I'm also 5'6, and in the first month I dropped more than I eventually did on a sustained basis. It's likely that you dropped water weight, and that you literally have less weight into you from eating less food. There are other factors that affect water weight loss too, such as hormonal cycles, illness, environment,…

The last 10 (I am on my last 10 as well, going to 20 BMI) are hard because the progress is so slow it seems like it isn't happening, and it's demotivating because, well, you're already at a healthy weight and there's all the yummy things to eat. One thing I've learned is that I don't need motivation (that's what powers up…

It sounds like you have a lot of stress right now - losing your job, moving house, raising a kid, finals, trying to manage weight, working out, family not being so supportive. You only have so much willpower, which is like a muscle and can easily get fatigued, so of course it's hard to keep away from the high-cal treats.…

I do not want to derail OP's thread. To answer the questions, my daily goal is low because I am sedentary and because I am trying to get from 21.6 BMI to 20 BMI (I have a slim frame). My days are variable because some days I get 9000 steps and some I get 2350, so I can't count on having extra calories to eat back. And my…

Yes, I've got 9-10 pounds to goal weight. It takes a lot of dedication and determination, as I could give up this second and be in a healthy BMI. But I want what I want, so I will keep going.

Seriously, read this. You don't need motivation. You need discipline.

Your stats are just like mine (i'm .5 inches taller, and started 2 lbs less than you, but same sizes on both ends) and you are an inspiration. I am at 134 lbs and am working toward 125-130. And that waist! I'm jealous! Great job!

I started earlier this year for the exact reason you mention. I discovered that it made me extraordinarily hungry, and that it was ultimately very difficult to maintain a calorie deficit while that hungry. So I put it on hold until I'm at goal.

Potato foods (potatoes, fries, chips, etc.). Avocado, banana, nuts, coconut water. Non-fat greek yogurt like Chobani is chock full of it. Potassium is good for you, and most people eating a standard American diet do not get enough of it. Same with magnesium.

You have an anteriorly tilted pelvis. I do too. There are exercises you can do (you can google them) to re-align your posture to have a straighter back. You may also need to lift weights to reduce the body fat. Your body looks like mine - anteriorly tilted pelvis, slim thighs, some fat front and low center. I know that I…

Hahahahahahahahahahaha - this happens to me every morning. It motivates me to stay under my calories!

You'll have to do a few things. The exact way - When your mom makes something in the slow cooker, weigh the slow cooker (maybe at a time other than when she is about to use it) and keep track of the weight. Then see if you can weigh all the ingredients separately. Try to weigh the meat, veggies, etc. raw. Then plug all…

There is not a way to do that in the free app. I do not know about the paid version of the app, as I have never paid for the app. If not, can you set a reminder on your phone calendar?

Has your doctor provided a referral to a registered dietician? This will help you get started with foods and meals that are recommended. If not, the best way to get started is to take things one step at a time, one day, one week, one month at a time. Start by looking for quick fixes. For example, if you drink soda every…

Coconut oil. Slather it on the areas most likely to rub. My daughter's in track and field and she wears bike shorts. No problems yet.

The best way to take in magnesium is to drink it (our groundwater used to be full of magnesium but since the advent of municipal filtration, it is mostly devoid of it) and to absorb it through your skin via an Epsom salt bath or in the ocean. There's no great way to track that, unfortunately. Can you take a supplement that…

-I want to be the hot stepmom and swim team mom -I want the body I never had when I was younger -I want to rock a bikini at our vacation in Key West in 1.5 months -I want people to look at my husband and think, "man, he got a hot wife" -I want to wear the same size as my teenage daughter -I want to fit all the pretty…

It gets slower and harder as you get closer to goal, particularly if you're in the normal BMI and still trying to lose. You might have an off week. Maybe TOM is coming. Maybe you had some sodium-heavy meals recently. Maybe you're getting sick and your body is holding onto everything. You also need to be sure you are…

A couple of things. My health markers aren't great. My father died of hardening of the arteries, so I am genetically predisposed toward having heart disease and if I'm 36 and my numbers aren't great, it's going to be unpleasant in 10 years. I want to be 46 and still young, not 46 and on pills and dr. appointments. I want a…

Fork put-downs and table push-aways. Seriously. You can't outrun a bad diet. Weight loss is 80% food and 20% exercise. And you reduce calories to lose weight. You exercise to look good naked. But exercise won't fix your stomach if you're packing on the calories.

You look amazing, OP! I love the black lipstick and fashion sense. Congratulations!

Not to derail this thread, but if you hover over Woo, it says "wtf" in the URL. There's been some debates recently in MFP about what woo means. I guess that's the answer!

I've gotten, "I can tell you've really slimmed down; you look great" spoken in all sincerity to "Wow, you've lost a lot of weight. Wow, you look really good. Keep it up!" said in a shocked, approving voice. To the latter, I wanted to say "Well I've lost about 15 pounds. I've gone from 157 to 142. Did I look really bad…

Ha, I'm a stepmom to teenagers and I'm a size 4-6 in pants. Moms get to be whatever size they want to be!

That I had a scarcity mentality (programming from childhood) and that it would take time to undo that. And to be gracious to myself while I worked to undo and temper it. That I don't have to clean my plate. If I'm full, I can stop. Anyway it's not like I can actually send the food to dying children in Africa. My dog will…

When I started birth control, I went up a bit in weight, felt hungrier, and (oddly) my taste buds changed slightly. I chalk this up to the artificial hormones. However I've lost 30 pounds since I started. It's been over 5 years so if there was truly an uptick in appetite, it's been long enough that it's normal now and I…

Have you recently started lifting weights or doing bodyweight exercises? You might have a muscle out of place in your shoulders or neck that is causing tension. Try to get your blood pressure checked. They have machines at places like CVS and Walgreens. Try to eat some foods with potassium and magnesium. You can google a…

The table at the entrance to my office where there is often platters of chocolates and cookies and pastries. I have to take the long way around so I don't see them. If I see them, I end up taking one...or five. That I don't have to be perfect ALL THE TIME. I only have to do pretty good most of the time and it will fall…

The best appetite suppressant is getting enough vitamins, minerals, protein, fiber, and liquid. You'll have to experiement and pay attention to patterns that work for you. I noticed that when I eat cucumbers, strawberries, grapes, string cheese, a hard boiled egg, or a bit of greek yogurt with honey that it takes the edge…
