I very much doubt he was discharged for a single infraction. If according to the story he was 800 lbs and had lost 20 lbs in three months, that's 1.6 lbs a week. That's a respectable loss... for someone 600 lbs lighter. I suspect he was habitually cheating via order-in or the family sneaking in food and the hospital…

I play LotRO and STO. I alternate between being a Hobbit and a Cardassian. >.> [edit. That's Lord of the Rings Online and Star Trek Online in non-geek. I got my start in City of Heroes (RIP :'( )]

I'm in customer service so my loss has been a public event. I got that first hesitant comment at around 20 pound point. At 40 pounds I cut and coloured my hair and shifted into the second new pair of pants. Then I was swamped with comments from customers. Sometimes it takes some other change, like the hair, for the…

You said "vintage" workout videos and I assumed you meant Jack Lalanne. Guess I'm showing my age.

My sister was always the thin one. She used to come around to my place two or three times a week for coffee. Now that we're the same size, I haven't seen her in three weeks.

I'd feel happier about the decline in pop sales if I didn't think that juice sales were rising on the same curve. Juice is more pernicious because no one really thinks that soda is a health food, while juice has been relentlessly greenwashed. Most dairy-case juice is just artificially sweetened, flavoured and coloured…

First rule of happy sane wellness is stop listening to "them" and start listening to you. Every "they" out there has an opinion, and you know the old saying about opinions and rectal openings...? If you're subbing Mio for coffee because of the sugar and cream in the latter, experiment with non-sugar sweeteners or try…

This is a good guideline. I have a machine and can sew. I've altered a couple of dresses successfully from 16 down to 12 where the dress was really unique but it's a lot of work to get right. The greater the size change, the more exponentially the job increases. It's not just nipping in the side seams: past a point, you'll…

This is my philosophy as well. I've kept one or two huge old pieces to compare and remind myself. For a while when I started losing, I mourned that years ago I gave away a party dress that I dearly loved. I was de-cluttering at the time and decided to face that I would never get into that size 18 again. Now it wouldn't…

I have 12s to 18s. I've donated most larger ones. I have a few high-end or exotic pieces that I've stored to make alterations later.

I have serious doubts about the usefulness of this site. Good concept, terrible implementation, lousy search algorithm and no user input oversight. Maybe most of the contributors aren't lying, but maybe a lot of them are just wrong. Self-reporting is notoriously inaccurate. I've played around with the search feature and…

The trace lead and plutonium will give you wings, and possibly a third eye.

Fight the Power, sister. That being said, that's vandalism so don't expect mercy if your friendly retailer or his loss-prevention staff catch you at it. @senecarr Here's the spectral analysis on your salt. Mmm... natural uranium. Incidentally, if you really need this stuff, you can buy "kala namak" at any South Asian…

I count myself fortunate now to have big wide duck feet. :open_mouth: Still, I went from an 8.5 wide shoe to a 7.5 regular. I have to wonder if the trend toward larger and wider shoes is related to rising obesity numbers, because I had no idea that losing weight would make my feet smaller. Clothes are indeed a PITA, one…

At my age, maintenance TDEE at goal weight is only 1600 or so. I can boost that a bit with an active job, but I too am looking at restriction for life.

Give H&M a try. My kid's 14x hoodie fits my 36DD pear-shaped body. Maybe that's the trick. Try the "chubby kids" sizes. And yes, the off-sizes are certainly harder to find in Canada.

I'm 5'0" and sometimes shop in the kids and teens department. Some types of garments will be cut shorter in the sleeves and narrower in the shoulder. The pricepoint is much better too. The hoodie or jacket in the kid's dept. may be half the price of the same garment in lady's petite.

Well quoted. Thanks. Let's keep the good content visible. ;)

This should be stickied. Do we still do that?

You laugh. I want to track down a mad scientist to graft a second head onto her shoulder so I can whack them together. My fear of losing it with all of the people out there just like her is why I don't post more often. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0x-fkSYDtUY

Lots of meals here at a dollar a plate or less.

Yes. I have problems with this current tendency in pop culture to broaden the definition of addiction. It smacks of evasion. "Poor me. It's not my fault I ate the whole bag of cookies. It's the cookie's fault." No, you picked the cookies up off the shelf, you put them in the buggy, on the belt, in the bag, into the car,…

A nutritionist who tries to demonize individual foods is a nutritionist you need to dump. That's not science -- it's voodoo. Anyone who ascribes quasi-magical labels to "good" foods and "bad" foods is a crank and not worth whatever you're paying them.

You look fantastic! Such a dramatic change. Well done and keep it up!

/Thread. Logging helps me not overeat. Some days I'm tempted to munch but resist because I don't want to log it but don't want to lie in my logging. Or... I munch, then add extra exercise to earn the calories. It's given me more self-discipline.
