Would have thought that after 12 lbs you'd already see where the weight is going. If you didn't take some full body photos when you started gaining definitely take some now to compare after you gain your next 12lbs.

I used to get that a lot, on my traps and outer pecs. I saw a doctor about it years and years ago and from memory he suggested that I warm up a bit more. It doesn't happen anymore, not sure why.

You could incorporate pull ups and chin ups into your workouts multiple times per week, thats a sure fire way to improve. Australian pull ups is also a good variant.

I think its probably a combination of different body types (driven by genetics), and also different cultural beauty ideals. If you're healthy and happy then bmi is just another number to ignore imo :)

True, abs can't be seen if they're hiding behind a layer of belly fat. That being said, the more developed the ab muscles, the easier they are to see. That comes from training, genetics, or a combination of both.
