I see, totally makes sense! Yeah, see what he says. The lifting is more key than anything else from what I understand. I started a heavy lifting program (Stronglifts) to finish off the last half of my weight loss. Not only do I love it, but it's working. I can only imagine how good my lifts would be if I were already at…

I agree with the above! ^ It's interesting to me, because I study a theory in school called the stages of change or transtheoretical model. Behavior change is not as instant as we'd like to think. First you have to contemplate it, do some planning (which you are). Then action, and maintenance. So next try doing some…

I can answer my own thread question now! I didn't end up liking oatmeal that much because of the flakes. Mint is good but I like it better with some extra chocolate added. Red velvet is a new favorite, along with my first love salted caramel!

@rhtexasgal I will follow responses with interest, because I am afraid it will take me a long time to fight off my belly, too. I really admire your patience! I suspect what more knowledgeable people might tell you would be to trade some of your non hiit cardio for more hiit, and lift more often and lift heavier if…

Yup! And lots of people even look more at their weekly calorie goal to fit in some treats now and then. For example, my calorie goal is 1655, and two days ago I didn't have a big appetite so I only ended up eating about 1200 calories. Then last night when my boyfriend asked where I wanted to go for date night dinner, I…

You're doing great!! We are the same height, and the last time I did MFP I was actually your age and weight. I started at 160 and got down to 145. I logged very strictly, weighed my food, ate back half my exercise calories (because MFP seems to calculate them too high). Given I was in college I still ate lots of junk…

It does seem like a lot - but we'd need to know your age, height, etc. Go to a TDEE calculator or two and explore the numbers you get. For me, I would probably maintain eating about 1900 calories. I am 24, female, lightly active, and 5'7. I've been losing by eating 1600 calories and for a while I was losing eating 1400.…

Good luck to you too!

So incredibly inspiring!! How long did you work at the overall loss, and the recomp?

I struggle with protein, too. I don't really cook. I worked my way up to nearly 100g these last three weeks.. and that's still not really enough. Here are some of my staples - they consist mostly of carb-like foods lol: I rely on supplements like quest bars & chips, protein cookies & muffins, protein powder, but for the…

Yikes! I agree. I wish I didn't add 5 pounds every time. I will likely deload to the bar after this hip stuff. And maybe I'll use my new fractional plates in the future for squats, not just presses.

@canadianlbs @thielke2015 Thank you both for your helpful responses! My appointment is tomorrow... (pending the incoming snow doesn't cancel it)

Right?! Agh

One of my housemates regularly goes through a gallon of ACV every two weeks or so. She drinks it straight. It freaks me out

I'm reviving my little thread just to see if anyone can provide any personal insight about my diagnosis now that I have one: bursitis. Doctor referred me to a chiropractor for it and she said a steroid injection will be another option. From what I can tell from doing a search and reading threads, it seems like things could…

Haven't used them yet but they are a good deal and reviews are positive! https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00XNCRLA4/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_sUbWybQXCCWB4

I asked for a spot for a 55lb bench so don't feel embarrassed! I had to, because I got really tired on my fourth set, only got 4/5 reps in, and I didn't want to drop the weight on my face during my final set. When I asked the guy he was super nice about it... and the weight felt way lighter. If you're socially anxious like…

@DawnEmbers thanks for the reply! Update for me, I did bicep curls, 3x10 @ 10lb, at home yesterday while I rested my lower half. Gonna be doing just arms for a while, I think... Saw the uni doctor and she said what I've got going on with my hip is called trochanteric bursitis, and she referred me to the chiropractor so I'm…

Like others said, the safety pins work. I always check their height just as I check the height I prefer the bar. I failed squats for the first time on Friday and it went seamlessly.

Inspiring! Can I add you as a friend? I'm also 5'7, and I'm trying to do exactly what you've accomplished! I've been doing SL 5x5 for about 6 weeks, should reach goal weight of 145 around June (CW 158). Once I reach GW I plan to recomp by sticking with my lifting. :)
-
@DawnEmbers I hope that feels better soon! Do you always do elliptical for a warmup? I'm starting to think walking in from the cold and going right into warmup sets with the bar is not the best plan for me.
-
@canadianlbs it's a little bit better, thank you for asking! I've been cheering you guys on, sitting here with my frozen kernel corn ice pack! (Though I needed some of the corn for a recipe so I'll have to find a new ice pack...) My doctor might have availability Wednesday. I have tasked myself with trying to understand…

@CeeBeeSlim :) yes exactly, getting better, slowly

PS: I'm having a hard time understanding what my injury is because I can bend at the waist all the way down, I can bend at the knees, but not both together (squat). This led me to think maybe IT band. I know it's up to a doctor and not me to figure it out but I'm really bored sitting here resting lol.
-
Me too! I got a running fanny pack once I realized I needed tissues on top of an inhaler. My nose runs when I eat spicy food or drink soda, too, lol.
-
Yeah, good idea, thanks. It's hard to say what the issue even is. It might be more like upper leg because I can sit in a pretzel without pain (I'd assume that uses the hips quite a bit). As far as how this happened, I wish I knew. I did warm up but I think proceeding to my work weight while still feeling tight was a bad…

Great insights, canadian, thank you for taking the time to help! My hips are always loudly cracking so maybe it will be good to finally pay them some proper attention lol :)
-
Yeah, no, thank you so much, you're right... my plan is to call my doc if it doesn't feel better by Monday. I'm not able to walk properly without sharp pain so I'm really worried. I've been icing it. Anyone know how to elevate a hip easily? Lol I regret trying to push through my workout. Either this feels better Monday and…

Update on my hip feeling popped out... I woke up this morning unable to put weight on it. What the *kitten* did I do :s

My first bad workout was today. My first time failing squats. I always try to analyze everything and understand reasons why... it could have been that I didn't eat a lot during the work day before the workout, also could have been that I totally neglected stretching this week, or maybe I just need to start increasing…
