Just finished my first 5k in 22 years! I didn't run the entire thing- I am at a conference at a ski resort and their 5k was two loops of a downhill then very long uphill course. I ran all of the flat and downhill but had to walk about half of the up hill. Finished in 46 minutes and far behind everyone else, but hey I…

@krichard08, if you are anything like me, you will actually enjoy getting away from intervals for a while. Don't let the thought of 22 minutes scare you- you are ready! Have a great run!

I just finished the C25k this morning, and @Just_Ceci suggested this forum for the next step. I loaded the 10k Zen Labs app, and plan to just continue on this Sunday. While I ran cross country in high school, that was 22 years and 75 lbs ago, and I never really enjoyed it. After 8 weeks of c25k, I find myself looking…

@LLduds- just trust the program and take your time. I had the same doubts, but as @ftrobbie always tells folks on here while it may be challenging to overcome the doubts in your mind, your body is ready for the next step. I look forward to reading about your success in the next few days!

After starting and stopping c25k twice, the third time was a charm and I graduated today!! I can't believe tat eight weeks ago I could hardly keep running for a minute, and today, I ran the 30 minutes and then kept going through the cool down time for almost a 5k in 35 minutes. This program rocks! It's been over twenty…

I DID IT!! Just got back from my final run of C25K, and although it was one of my toughest because my knee gave me issues for the first time in eight weeks, I slowed down and kept going. Sad enough, this is probably one of the only things I have started in recent years and been able to stick with through to the finish, so…

Week 8 day 2 done! Got going a little earlier this morning and it was less humid, so I kept going after the 28 minutes and ran 5k in about 35 minutes- I'm thrilled. To think that eight weeks ago I could barely keep going for one minute is crazy! For those just getting started, trust the program, go as slow as you need to…

Great job @afrench050612! Congratulations! I have two more runs and then hope to post the same success!

Great job everyone! Keep up the good work and keep posting your updates- they are so motivating! I finished Week8 Day 1 this morning. I ran a different route and planned on ending with my favorite downhill stretch, but I got to the top right as my 28 min was up, so I kept going. I ended up running down the hill and halfway…

I have the fitbit charge and love it. Welcome to the group! You have already overcome huge challenges- C25K will definitely help you learn to be a runner. I haven't had to deal with anything compared to you, but have not run since high school, and gained over 50 lbs. a few years ago after a bad fall from a horse trashed my…

Week 7 done! the humidity definitely made me slow WAY down, and think that I may start getting out there earlier for the rest of the summer. Congratulations everyone on another great week!
-
@maggiekat7- I have been struggling with the same question, but decided to give Stronglifts 5x5 a shot, and started today. I know that there are a lot of success stories out there that included weight lifting, so I am going to give it a try!

Go @maggiekat7!

Week 7 Day 2 done! Only three more runs before my fist 5k in over 20 years!
-
@ftrobbie Congratulations on another great achievement! Thank you for all of the support and advice that you provide on a daily basis to all of us that hope to follow in your footsteps. You are an inspiration!

Week 7 Day 1 is in the record books! It wasn't easy- I am still a bit sore from walking an amusement park for ten hours with my step daughter on Saturday, and also dealing with that TOM, so my mind kept telling me to quit and try again tomorrow. I did it though, and hope that Wednesday my personal conditions will be better…

@worldsworstsuperhero, @fit4life_73, and @maggiekat7- CONGRATULATIONS!! I'm on to Week 7 on Sunday, and I can tell you, that once I completed that dreaded 20 minutes a few weeks ago, I couldn't wait to do it again! The first two runs of Week 6 had walking intervals again, and I found myself disliking it. Did Day 3 this…

Completed week 6 day 3 today, so finished with Week 6! This morning was challenging because I walked a lot yesterday, and was a bit sore. I also got my arm caught on my cheapie earbuds and broke them about five minutes in, so ran without music for the first time in a few weeks. Still, I made it! I can't believe how much…

Just finished week 6 day 2. Wouldn't say I killed it, but I completed it. Today was the first time so far in the program that I have had a side cramp, which stunk, but I was able to keep running very slowly to finish. I also took my dog for the first time since week 3- when the runs started getting tougher, I stopped…

Just finished Week 6 Day 1...in the rain! I guess I'm turning into a runner at last- I woke up before the alarm went off, and was excited to get running regardless of the weather. In the past I would have used the rain as an excuse to skip today, but with rain forecasted for the next few days, I was not about to let it get…

@samhennings, ftrobbie is absolutely right! I had the same thoughts two weeks ago when I was on week 4, and didn't think there was any way I was ready. I decide to follow his advice and push through it. Day 1 stunk but it was all in my head- looking back, I just had such doubts that I could run for 5 minutes straight. I…

Thanks for your responses everyone. I wanted to let you all know that I just got back from completing Week 5 Day 3, and am SO excited! It just all clicked this morning, and I had no problem completing the 20 minutes. I am from the Philadelphia area, so of course I had to do a little "Rocky" celebration when I finished :) I…

First time posting here. I just finished week 5 day 2 this morning and am looking for advice on day 3. Up until today, it hasn't been easy, but has been very doable. Today was the first day I let the "head trash" sneak in and almost quit in the first few minutes. I ate junk last night and just feel crappy this morning so…

HI everyone! I have been back to logging on MFP for 23 days now, and have seen about a 6 lb weightloss in that time. I have been doing low carb, but really only started LCHF about a week ago based on reading a lot of info on the MFP low carb group. I have a goal to lose 65 lbs to start, but more importantly want to feel…

Thank you for starting this thread! I am in the same boat as you OP. I am starting around 245, am 5'10, and carry most of it from my waist down, although I definitely need to lose inches in my arms too. I am currently in a size 18 pant, and cant wait to start buying smaller ones. I have been on here for a while, but…
