  • Excuse me, what town is this? Asking for a friend.
  • Seriously. Without teeth, it's a lot easier to drink health shakes, too.
  • Find out where you're going ahead of time and try to plan by looking up calorie counts online. Decide what you're going to order before you step foot in the restaurant and stick with it.
  • Live with 24828849292 species of animals that can kill you? Kidding :). I love Australia and have desperately been trying to convince my husband to emigrate there for a few years. He's not going for it. I think you're bored, to be honest. I know when I have too much time on my hands, I get bored and down (not quite…

  • Track your food and use a food scale. If you're not looking at what you're eating, you don't know if you're in a deficit. As someone who thought I'd messed up my metabolism by yo-yo dieting and swore it was harder to lose weight now that I'm older, once I started tracking calories in/calories out and weighing my portions,…
  • Aalf1163, that's gorgeous. Morning, everyone! Thank goodness this is a four-day work week because I don't think I could do another day of work. It hasn't been *bad*, it's just been one of those weeks where everything is bothersome. It probably doesn't help that I've got a cold/virus that just won't go away, so I've been…
  • In 6 weeks, I've lost 10.4 lbs, so I'm averaging about 1.7 lbs a week. Considering I have my deficit set to 1 lb a week, I'm pretty happy with that number. I could set it to 2 lbs a week, but honestly? This is going to take awhile. I don't want to be unhappily hungry the entire time.
  • I'm another one who doesn't eat breakfast because if I do, I'll eat all. Day. Long. I tend to wait to eat until noon or 1, sometimes later. I'm just not hungry in the mornings and if I do eat, I feel sick.
  • My co-workers are great - we work for a national non-profit that aims for good health, so we have a 'healthy meals' policy and the majority of stuff that's brought in or that's at our meetings is pretty healthy. I do get frustrated with a FB group of local friends for WL - not because we try to tempt each other, but the…
  • Thanks! I hooked it back up just to see if I could figure out what was going on and it gave me too many calories again (308 when I'd not even met my steps goal), but after a few minutes, it had adjusted down to just over 100. So I suspect it gets it right eventually, but there's an issue when they first communicate. Really…
  • I weigh out the serving size on the package in grams and then add to it if it's not enough. So it looks like I'm logging some things by measurement, but everything I eat that's not liquid gets weighed in grams.
  • I love this! I only have one kid, but I may have to use this when the cousins are over. I used mine to weigh my kitten. He's little enough to do it, the trick is just getting his furry butt to stay still long enough to read it. (My older cat? He'd break it.)
  • The Kroger buffalo wings that I like as a treat are supposed to be 'about' 5 wings for 150 calories. When I weighed it, I was pretty disappointed to see that the actual serving size in grams is half of that. (And annoyed for all of the other times I ate them when I was actually eating twice the calories.) OTOH, I was…
  • I will give up sugar when they pry the sugar bowl from my cold, dead hands.
  • My grandparents had a grapefruit tree in their backyard in Florida and I'm still traumatized from being forced to choke a few bites down as a kid. They worked great when my cousins and I needed something to lob at each other, though!
  • I think Weight Watchers is a great program (I lost 70 lbs years ago on the Flex Points - I think that's what it's called) but I've tried going back a few times since and it just doesn't click like CICO has. So much is free now (fruits and veggies) and I think that does hinder people at times. Your profile pic looks…
  • I have a Vivofit, too, but I'm on Garmin Connect - AmandaES75.
  • Where are you in your cycle? I've noticed that I have days with extreme hunger and fatigue a couple of times a month - right before I ovulate and right around the time AF is due. (I'm actually having one of those days today.) I've upped my calories the last couple of days just because my body seems to be trying to…
  • I get hungry, but for the most part, I can control it - in the mornings, I'm fine with being hungry because I don't get hangry-hungry. I don't eat breakfast and tend to hold off until after 1 to eat. I can't seem to go to bed hungry, though. If I'm hungry, I can't sleep. I may not have the blood sugar ups-and-downs that I…
  • Please add me as well :).
  • I just changed it to 1.5 lbs/week simply because I have a bunch to lose and I honestly felt like I could drop down, calorie-wise, without feeling hungry. I'll adjust it after I've lost a few pounds.
  • Seriously, 5 lbs in two weeks is fantastic :). I've been at this for a month and am on track for just about 8 lbs lost tomorrow. You'll probably see it slow down a little as you get closer to goal, but you're doing great!
  • Omigosh, I love these things. However, I can eat it off of my fingers in ten seconds flat if given half a chance, so it's usually better that I stay away from them. They are SO good, though. I would love to find single-serve packets of hummus.
  • I bet you don't sell those shakes or anything. Subtle advertising there.
  • Yep! For me, it's a lot of trial and error because I'm new to the fitness tracker thing (heck, I'm kind of new to movement...heh.) I figure I'm going to find what works and stick with it until it doesn't work anymore, and then figure out what needs to be done to make it work more, but I'm going to do it all while eating…
  • I have a Garmin Vivofit and I start earning extra calories after I hit at least 3000 steps - some days I eat them, some days I don't (mostly the days when I get lots of extra steps in). I think it's up to you - I don't tend to eat all of them, and am still losing. Just keep an eye on your progress if you eat them - if it…
  • These are really inspirational! I'm smiling just reading this thread :). I haven't lost enough to buy new clothes, but I've logged into and IN MFP for over a month now and haven't strayed from my calorie goal (even the days I've gone over, I've taken from a previous day's unused calories). That's huge for me, as I've been…
  • Not the OP, but I have mine set to 1 lb a week (I'm averaging about 2 lb/week though), which is just about a year and a half to reach my goal. I find it easier to deal with a less strenuous long-term goal than a strenuous shorter-term goal. There are going to be sacrifices whether I'm eating to lose or eating at…
  • I'm glad because I am so sick of being told that I'm going to screw up my health if I don't eat breakfast. Seriously, it's all over the damn place (and I hear it at work when we have breakfast meetings or are at staff meetings out of town). Sometime i do feel like a fluffy rare unicorn. Luckily, I can come here and realize…
