I'm not sure if this would work with boxed cake mix.... But I know that my grandpa would substitute the oil for applesauce. He was diabetic and this lowered the calories a bit.

Also! My blood pressure was 100/50 (but I think something was wrong with his machine, my normal blood pressure is about 116/68) and my pulse and EKG were normal.

I'm below my daily sugar goal by a pretty wide margin everyday. I much prefer salty to sweet. I actually don't drink very often. Less than once a month. And I'm exercising 2-4 days a week averaging about 45 minutes per workout with a mixture of cardio and weights.
