That's a good way to approach it. Honestly, i think the worst i ever did on a 2 week trip was that i gained around 5-7 pounds (figure over by 1750-ish calories per day), and to be honest, Over the last 2 weeks i've lost close to 5 pounds so it might take about that much time to undo the damage. So, enjoy vacation while on…

The problem with what little 'fat shaming' i received when i was fatter (my niece still calls me fat or did last month, you always get honesty from those under 5 years old! She's slightly in my profile picture right now) was that when i was genuinely at my fattest, i didn't really grasp that i could do anything about my…

scolaris - at disney parks, my understanding is any place with a soda machine will give you a free cup of ice water if you ask for it.... That's what i usually drink there, it's economical not just financially but in terms of calorie budget

I think 2 years ago (not last year) they gave out craisins over there every day during food and wine (near a cranberry bog that the craisins makers sponsored, i believe). Back then i actually hated the craisins when i tried them, but i was very much not in diet mode at the time, where i am now maybe i can make myself like…

I'll be there too... For 2 weeks early november... If you do enough walking there (and it's possible, such as walking Around all of epcot/countries, then out the back gate of epcot (near england) along pathway past Boardwalk hotel (possibly doing a lap or two around the lake) to Hollywood studios (yes, you can walk there…

Using site consistently for about 100-200 days... Started with no MFP friends and intention to keep private, however I'm feeling more open lately and think is motivating to know someone else can see activity and comment and such... I'm not a strict dieter, i am not always under calories, my goal is long term weight loss…

My diagnosis is 'schizoaffective bipolar type' but it's very similar to bipolar.. Anyone feel free to add me... I have lost about 30 pounds (29.1 today?) since january and want to share i know how hard it 'feels' to lose weight on bipolar meds which advertise weight gain as a side effect, but it's definitely possible..…

Why is my "belief" the only one that requires a study? Another post on MFP is not a peer-reviewed study. My experience is since january: -Cut sugar out of coffee -Cut soda almost down to none -Changed almost nothing else (maybe more exercise, and supplements), i even still have late night snacks like ice…

i told you up front people argue about this, i don't care to convince people one way or the other, believe what you must. For me, i just think diet soda tastes awful. A quick search on http://scholar.google.com found an old study which seems to say amongst normal weight people, those who consume at least 21 artificially…

People will argue about this (last time, one of them was wearing a coke logo'd t-shirt, presumably an employee of company), but -I've read of studies saying that people who drink diet coke eat more calories (I don' remember what % more) and tend to gain more weight. There are a lot of opinions on why that happens, some…

I'm Schizoaffective, which means I have Psychosis (Paranoia and such), Depression, Mania, and yes even anxiety.. Take a bunch of meds and supplements to deal with all this... My therapist strongly recommends exercise (and has even encouraged me to exercise seeing me for free in exercise activities outside of therapy on a…

For me, I do daily - i do it in the morning, i tend to delay breakfast until i get around to it... I have a wi-fi (aria) scale and it logs in each time i step on it (and has since around 2012 i think), but sometimes i weigh in even several times in the a.m. then go back and pick the most reasonable number for the day and…

It is colder where I am starting last week. Just switched from shorts to jeans. Also I know blood pressure affects temperature perception, as does a fever, which are both good reasons to see a doc.

Emily - My advice, when you reach your target weight (and you can), don't stop tracking food (just change your goals to maintaining which means a slightly higher calorie target). In 2008 I weighed 262 lbs. After tracking calories and exercising, by mid 2010, I was down to 175! But then i took 3 or 4 (or 5?) years off and…

I actually had a doctor who last week told me it's reasonable to have two cups of coffee w/ Half-and-half (which has calories) for breakfast (figure 150-200 calories), and that would be a reasonable amount of calories and helpful to weight loss efforts. I like the idea (coffee is a good source of energy for day). Any "real…

So you were 600 calories over But you probably had a 500 calorie deficit factored in originally so really you have 100 calorie surplus. This should delay your weight loss efforts by about 1 day, because this particular day is essentially a wash (no progress towards loss, nor likely gain either). -Rob

1 calorie per serving, but 200 servings makes it around 200 calories, does that make sense?

I think MFP has a thing called recipes (not sure haven't used yet) and i think you add the ingredients you used to make your 'cauliflower potato salad', and it'll probably tell you the total calories, if you tell it the portion you made (did you make x # of cups?) you can do some math (or maybe it does it for you) to…

Not sure how accurate, but Microsoft band optical heart rate is on bottom of wrist strap so it's where the veins are exposed... As opposed to samsung gear fit where optical heart rate is usually on a bone and has to be moved....
-
For heart rate, yes.. you do with vivosmart (i never got heart rate to work, and exchanged it for one without it). And i didn't like that either -- those chest straps almost feel like they're zapping me or irritating my skin or something.
-
I've used fitbits (not bands, tho), VivoSmart (loved the idea, but display was too small for my eyes without glasses), Samsung Gear (it doesn't sync with MFP), and now I'm trying Microsoft Band (yes, it works with samsung s5 anyway, not sure about s3). One negative of microsoft band's default config is that it takes steps…

What i do is: 1. Step on the scale every day... My weight's high - that's motivation... I also watch my progress on scale over time and short term, and pay attention to BF% so i don't strictly watch weight. I also take BF% at my lower body (scale i step on does that) and I have a hand-held body fat % analyzer which my…

I take a medication, risperidone, which is known to cause weight gain. My doc tells me at a higher dose the effect is worse, but right now i'm about 1/3 from my highest regular dose. My experience with this drug is that it is, primarily, a major tranquilizer... This causes, as its main function, your energy levels to go…

If I click 'apps' up top, then 'bmi' on next row of choices, it tells me a BMI of 18.5-25.0 (for a man my age) is a 'healthy' range... Admittedly I'm over 30 and have a long way to go. But I think being in what it tells me is a healthy BMI range is probably a reasonable goal. i.e. I don't want to go too far towards the low…

When i used FitBit and BodyMediaFit they both give we way too many calories-- eating them 'back' is dangerous. I mean they gave me 1,000 calories exercise credit (BMR around 2,000 + 1,000 = 3,000 calories a day it said i was burning on a slow day). I now use a Microsoft Band, and if anything, many days even with 10,000+…

I signed up to premium a week or two ago. (1) I never liked the ads, and premium seems to even get rid of them on website (2) The nutrients chart i sort of thought was always there (but never looked for it) but i like having access to it. (3) It's relative inexpensive... (don't tell mfp i said that)--- i think it worked…

Google would probably be a good place to look... But what i usually do is mix (1) small yogurt container, usually greek, (2) handful of some frozen fruit mix (assorted) from freezer aisle, and (3) Whey powder from wal-mart (they have two at mine, i'm trying the more expensive stuff now)... I sometimes add filtered water to…

This is getting more and more off topic (this particular sub part of the thread) which i'm partially to blame for... Meteorology I "think" is a science, but I know they do not have enough data collection points to be 100% accurate, and probably never will (until they can completely simulate the earth in a computer system,…
