Oregon here, as well. I think the last time someone washed my windshield was over a year ago. I did just buy windshield wipers from O'Reilly's Auto Parts and was surprised when they came out and put them on for me! Bravo!

Hey kids! Since I see a lot of newbies on this thread (which is AWESOME), thought I'd share a couple tips for posting in a group or forum. Just in case you didn't know these things, because I didn't when I first started . . . . If you click on the little star at the top of the thread, then you will get a notification every…

Just because Walmart is a discount retailer does not give the employees license to treat customers rudely or even indifferently. Regardless of wage, hours or any other factors they do have a job in customer service. If they are allowed to treat customers poorly then that is bad management. There are lots of people who want…

I watched basketball last night, too! NCAA Women's games. My Oregon girls are moving on to the third round! What were you watching?

@onwardsdownwards - I have always wanted to visit Wales! My husband's family originally came from there. He was born in Oxford, EN, so we have plans to travel to the UK within the next couple years. As you all get your gardens planted, please post pictures! Love them!

The allotment is a grand idea! Around here we also have what they call "community gardens" where you can get a small plot like that. Since I've had a lot of my own space to garden I've never looked into it, so not sure of the cost. It might not cost anything! (Now of course I have to check.) One of the reasons I'm taking…

Sounds like you are making great progress! Congratulations! MFP is awesome and so are you! I think the idea of keeping your favorite of the truffles is good. Can you take the rest to work or give them away to a friend or neighbor? Whenever I have extra goodies in my house (like at Christmastime) I send them with the…

Although I love chocolate and cookies, I really can stop at just one or two. My problem is the chips. Kettle chips and cheetos being the main temptations. I make lunch for my husband almost daily (I'm retired, he's not). He likes chips with his sandwiches, so they are around. Strangely, I'm fine if the bag isn't opened. It…

Hello fellow gardeners! I'm Rae from the beautiful state of Oregon, USA. I've been an avid gardener for the past 25+ years and I've had my share of successes and failures. I tell people I have a "light-green thumb" because not everything always turns out, but I enjoy it so I have kept on trying. I'm also a very frugal…

Hi all! I just joined. Here's the link to the group! http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/group/126130-green-thumbs

I've had both good and bad service just in the last few days. Good service makes me smile, bad service makes me laugh. No reason for me to get cranky over it. I just think "gee - too bad your life sucks and mine doesn't". I just returned a microwave that was too large for the space to Lowe's. The salesperson was very nice.…

^^^This exactly! I hate to toss out anything that could be used for another meal. I'd definitely use the corned beef liquid but really scale back on any additional salt since the corned beef juices will be plenty salty on their own. Whenever I cook any meats (roast or crockpot) I save all the juices. Put in the fridge in a…

I let fear of the unknown (being seen, being judged, nekkid in the locker room) rob me of at least a year of joy at the pool. After I retired I really wanted to try aquasize classes but I kept talking myself out of it. Finally, my 78 year old mother got sick of hearing me talk about it and paid my membership fee for 6…

I second the VS VSX. I always bought cheapie sports bras but had to wear at least 2 for high impact activities. Finally broke down and paid the money for the VS version. Mine does not have an underwire (which I can't wear) but it still has maximum support. I like that it hooks in the back and you don't have to be a…

<<<<< Guilty pleasure watcher here. I do enjoy the weight loss programs. I want to see the people be successful and I cheer them on (in most cases). Are they realistic for the common man/woman? No, of course not. It's a TV show and it's always going to be the extreme or it doesn't make for good TV. Because I feel a certain…

My favorite healthy snacks: Air-popped popcorn with a tiny bit of butter and a sprinkle of salt Celery with PB2 (powdered low-fat peanut butter) Apples with PB2 Baked apple with cinnamon Baby carrots with hummus Yogurt cheese (see below) Olives Dill pickles I make yogurt cheese by taking fat-free yogurt, mixing in dried or…

Not sure why I got the dreaded "woo" for my post. The origins of BMI and the insurance company weight charts are pretty well documented. The interesting thing is that so many people have used them as the standard for so many years. There's always room for improvement in any statistics. Data in, analyze, data out,…

Although I've been striving to hit that magic number of "normal" weight BMI, I'm pretty darn happy where I'm at (which is about 5 pounds above the high end). Healthy, happy, active and strong. Could I lose that 5 or even 10? Of course! If I decide I want to push myself a little harder, then I will and I'll still be healthy…

If you take it with a lot of water it might make you feel full for a little while. It's a natural (plant based) soluble fiber so it won't hurt you in small amounts and it aids in elimination. I sometimes add it to my morning smoothie for the extra fiber benefits but it doesn't do that much to curb appetite anymore than a…

That's so great that you were able to get help from a food bank AND that you got a job! Food banks are available here in the US and good to know in the UK and other countries, as well. I remember well the days of food insecurity before there were food banks. My husband and I (and the dog) ate tomato soup, saltine crackers…

This reminded me of some pretty amusing videos I stumbled upon while looking for a recipe. Epicurious posts videos on YouTube of 50 "inexperienced chefs" trying to do a bunch of different culinary tasks like: Making garlic paste Sharpening knives Coring and slicing an apple for pie Separating egg yolk from egg white…

Those negative emotions like guilt and shame serve NO ONE! Least of all you. Let them go and replace with positive affirmations and look forward. No more negative self-talk or beating yourself up. I reached my first goal weight and have been bouncing up and down 3-5 pounds for the past year or more. I'd still like to drop…

I've thought about this, too. I wonder if it might somehow violate the usage terms and conditions?
-
I would mention it to the manager. If it WAS the manager giving the tour, I'd think about switching to a different gym. Littering in any form is disgusting, but ignoring it in a place of business where it's your job to ensure/promote a clean environment is somehow worse.

That's interesting! Will they still sprout if they are split like the yellow ones or split peas?

I was inspired by this thread to make something with my chana dal. Last night I made stuffed peppers with yellow lentils, ground turkey, spinach and feta cheese. They turned out great! You could leave out the ground meat and cheese if you wanted to make them vegan.

My absolute favorite pants are the Bettona Classic style by Athleta. I'm a pear shape and they fit me nicely. They also have pockets, which is nice for a yoga type pant. They look dressy enough to wear to work or a nice event but are made of stretchy yoga pant material. I wear them for everything including workouts. Since…

This isn't the first article I've read about how the Biggest Loser contestants were not able to maintain their weight loss. I've seen a television program about it, as well. While I have no idea whether they truly "ruined their metabolisms" as some have said, many of them openly admitted to falling back into old patterns.…
