I've struggled with the regular brown lentils in the past because I think I've overcooked them. They were really mushy and bland so I've shied away. However, I want to like lentils, as well. I think they're really good for you and high in fiber. So, in that vein I just bought a bunch of different types of lentils because…

Wow! Being down 18 pounds since February 18 is quite a lot! You do realize that's not even 2 weeks, right? You can't speed it up anymore without starving yourself (and that you don't want to do). If you continue at this rate you will see a significant loss in 30 days. Do what you can to be as active as you can tolerate. If…

If you can handle nut milks, there are all kinds of yogurt alternatives that are dairy free. I have tried coconut, almond and cashew milk yogurt. The still have the same billions of live cultures, so that might be helpful for you. My opinion on the taste - the coconut yogurt is great, almond is pretty good, the cashew is…

I love looking at this thread! You are all such an inspiration. I especially love seeing all the AFTER pictures and all the cute new outfits. It's way more fun to dress a smaller body. @jfoster052185 and anyone else just starting out (or re-starting). You have to take one day at a time and do your very best. There are some…

Under the COMMUNITY tab there are several sub-tabs below: Message Boards; Groups; Blogs; Find Members; Invite Friends Groups is the second one. Just click on it and you'll see a list of the groups. You can also search for groups if you have an idea of a group name.

Are you using the app or the web version? I primarily log in to the full website on my laptop because I hate "typing" on my phone. Maybe the app shows less info? I never thought to look for that before.

Yes, country, state, even city in some instances. If they choose to list that. It's entirely optional. Most of my friends at least list the state that their from.

Ok, so you're not going to die eating this way but it's really not sustainable long term. When I was 20 I did exactly what you're doing and I lost weight fast. Then I gained it back. Not immediately, but eventually. Thus began a lifetime of yo-yo dieting where I'd lose quickly, then gain it all back over and over.…

Oh my gosh! I forgot about these. My mom used to make them with ground beef and sauerkraut. They were amazing and didn't taste at all "sauer" - just yummy. If you can make 5 kids like cabbage for dinner then that's a win! I actually mentioned this to her a few weeks ago and her response was "way too much work for an old…

I've bought plenty of good workout clothes at Walmart and Goodwill, a few decent things at Costco. Online at Jockey (great leggings and t-shirts), and Ebay for the higher end favorites like Athleta and Zella. For shoes, I always buy new at the outlet stores. You can't trust a good fit buying online or used.

What @h1udd said about the weight. A pound is a pound is a pound, but lean muscle takes up less space than fluffy fat. Re: being "big boned". Yes, people can be big boned. People can have small, medium or large frames. There's a test that measures your wrist size in conjunction with your height to determine which body…

Gluten-free and soy-free for the past 4 years. I don't avoid dairy, but I don't really eat that much of it anyway. My son, daughter-in-law, and grandson are all lactose intolerant so I've just switched to coconut milk, almond milk creamer and other alternatives. They really like Daiya cheese shreds for cooking and things…

I love cabbage and I love trying new recipes. I just made a stir-fry this evening for dinner with napa cabbage, peppers, mushrooms and some very lean pork loin. I grew up on cabbage rolls, but I'm lazy so I just throw all the ingredients together in a big sautee pan for a deconstructed version. I've made my own sauerkraut,…

^^^^This exactly. I'm 5'5" currently hovering around 150-153 and have clothes of many sizes in my closet. I worry more about the fit and if I don't like the size in the waistband of the pants, I cut out the label. :p

Absolutely fabulous! :flowerforyou:

Awesome accomplishment! Keep moving as much as you can. It stimulates the T-cells to boost your immune system and keeps the cancer from coming back. Four years post-cancer thriver here and I'm better than ever!

I was very faithful with logging for about a year and I lost steadily. That's when I met my first goal weight and took a break. Since then I've been bouncing back and forth between logging and not logging. Guess what? The scale is doing the same. :D Faithful logging works, so keep up the good work!

This is me, although at a slightly higher weight. I know I'm basically in maintenance, so something needs to change in order to reach that final goal. For me, probably the restaurant meals a couple times a week and not being exact on estimating the calories. I think I'd get funny looks if I brought my food scale to the…

Try not to get discouraged. A new scale will take some getting used to and it will not be the same as a public scale. You also said you wore clothes, shoes AND that you had eaten. Personally, I don't ever weigh with clothes on because clothes and shoes can weigh a lot and vary in weight depending on what it is. For…

Nay for me. I tried it for about 10 days and never got over that gross, heavy feeling. Plus, it seriously slowed down my digestive process (sorry if tmi) but that was not a pleasant experience. All the meat and extra fat just made me sluggish. I've never been a huge carb eater (donuts, cookies, etc) but boy did I miss my…

I've had issues with my gall bladder for the past 20 years, several times with excruciating pain. I've had a couple HIDA scans and have basically been told I have a "sick" gall bladder. The doctor told me removing it was a 50/50 chance of feeling better. What?? (Never could figure that one out.) Being fairly afraid of…

A chick flick with some super buff and fit women. Robin Wright is a shining example that you can change your body at ANY age. This is what 51 can look like:

It is never too late to improve your life! You never know what's around the bend and it could be something pretty incredible! I'm almost 60 and my mom will be 80 this year. We chat on the phone every morning for a few minutes. Our favorite topic of conversation is our exercise plan and what healthy meals we're preparing…

Strawberries & blueberries. Bananas & grapes. Pineapple & raspberries. Tomatoes & cucumbers with lots of black pepper. I love cottage cheese! If I have leftover chili or spaghetti I will add a scoop on top. Yum!

I had a desk job for many years and I was actually pretty fit. You don't have to be completely sedentary unless you are required to stay seated at your desk for the full 8-10 hours. Some ways to stay moving with a desk job: Take frequent bathroom breaks. Take the long way around. Squats in the bathroom stall. (Sounds…

Anyone seen The Shape of Water? I'm kind of intrigued, but getting the husband to a movie takes some pre-work.
-
Just the word "detox" would have me running the opposite direction! Nope.
-
Same thing happened to me when I first quit. Even though I substituted exercise whenever I had a craving I was at a standstill for awhile. Every time I felt a craving I'd go walk around the block, do squats at my desk, take the stairs, etc until the craving past. Counted calories, drank lots of water. Even so, I didn't…

Good food, bad food, "nasty" food is all in the taste buds of the consumer. A lot of people consider a greasy burger and fries to be nasty while a big robust salad to be delicious. If you consider "healthy" foods as nasty it might be hard for you to make the changes you may need to reach your goals. Some mindset changes…
