All that is saying is, if your calories and activity are exactly the same for five weeks running (which no one ever does), you will be at that weight. Yes, it's motivational. I don't see why anyone would be bothered by that. It's just MFP doing some simple math for you.

Always after. And it is important that you use a calorie listing for cooked, not raw. For example, if you grill chicken, there are drippings, right? Those were in the raw weight, but they're not in the cooked weight. They're down there messing up the drip pan of your grill!

I use one of those long necked oil drizzlers, so I glugged the the oil into a tablespoon first, counting to 1, 2, 3, 4. Then I emptied it into my skillet to get a visual of of what a tablespoon looked like. Did that at few times and measuring became second nature. I use a Misto oil sprayer to lightly coat vegetables for…

I made this today, and my husband and I LOVED it. Thanks!

This is just as effective. Put the bulb into a ziplock bag and seal it. Bang it a few times with a rubber mallet (indispensable in the kitchen, by the way). Remove the cloves that have been freed from their dry hulls. Toss the hulls in the compost or trash, save the bag for the next step. To pulverize garlic, put a peeled…

Be on guard, as it will try to rear its head. That has happened to me before and I got cocky. I began to believe I could eat certain foods in moderation when in fact, I was just on a slippery slope. Even now, after 10 weeks and 21 pounds lost, no real cravings or tendency towards emotional eating, I am on guard all the…

What is this weight program you're going to start? Have you done a MFP profile and do you have a good idea of how many calories per day you should be eating to lose more than a pound a week? Do you know what your macro (protein, fats, carbs, etc) distribution should be? That is really the place to start.

I just saved this recipe from the clean eating group: black bean soup. It's loaded with fiber and after cutting the oil from 3 to 2 tablespoons, it works out to 359 calories per serving, with 57g carbs, most of that fiber. It's a lot like a chicken chile soup I make, but this one doesn't have the chicken meat. I already…

That looks fabulous!! I make a soup much like that, but with chicken and chicken broth as well. I"m going to make this one too! Thanks for posting this. We love soups; my husband could eat soup every night and be perfectly happy. This also looks very inexpensive to make, which is a plus.

Someone's hangry.

I've budgeted for it, and my husband is fully supportive. I am over 60, and that saggy neck skin isn't going to firm up on its own or with any amount of neck-cersizes. I don't ever plan on being in the SI swimsuit issue, so I'll probably leave anything below the waist alone.

Unfortunately, 100% whole wheat bread recipes turn out very dense and heavy. I'm a really good bread maker and the only halfway decent whole wheat loaves I've ever made have had more white flour than whole wheat. I've tried the King Arthur recipe and it was okay toasted, but I wouldn't make it again.

I love the low carb wraps. I buy Flatout, and they're huge, 90 calolries. This is a good recipe, and I'll add that I like cucumber in almost every wrap I make.

You can enter them, but your nutrition report won't reflect what's in them.

We live in Kansas, but my husband is from Glasgow. I guess that doesn't count.

Well, I tripped up a bit and put a piece of carrot cake into me yesterday, the first sugary dessert I've had in over two months. It was my own made-from-scratch cake with cream cheese frosting and as usual, it was heavenly. My husband's birthday cake. The good news is, I stopped at one piece. By the way, in this morning's…

Yes!! Real food is absolutely delicious! This is why I cringe when I look at the Recipes forum. The way people dress up their vegetables is insulting to good food! Why must you always cover your veggies in a little oil and spice blends and roast them? Brussels sprouts are fabulous just steamed, as are green beans, carrots,…

Forgot this link: Why You Shouldn't Buy Organic Based on "The Dirty Dozen" vitals.lifehacker.com/why-you-shouldnt-buy-organic-based-on-the-dirty-dozen-1689190822http:// Very flawed studies. Bad science.

Not a fan of Environmental Working group at allL. I think it's a real fearmongering site (with a legit sounding name) that promotes a lot of misinformation. There are thousands of such sites on the internet. Take all that with a huge grain of salt.

I weigh and record the ingredients as I make a recipe. Then I mess up another large pot or bowl by scooping it out of the original pot, and I count the number of cups. The size of the serving depends on what I am making. a serving of soup might be 2 cups, a serving of spaghetti sauce might be 1/2 cup. Divide the total # of…

It's amazing how far two eggs can go when you do this. A few times a week, I make this with leftover steamed asparagus, green onions, bell peppers, tomatoes and a sprinkling of 2% cheddar. It's the most filling breakfast I've found and it is a LOT of food if you add enough vegetables. For me, the eggs are basically there…

Being the designated driver is a great strategy, and having a filling snack (nuts -- good plan, veggies, not filling at all!) is also very smart. Then you can have a moderate amount of the things that tempt you the most and pat yourself on the back that you did the best you could under the circumstances.

Organic meats -- that's a conundrum. The public is wary of the hormones and antibiotics, yet the FDA (which is way more stringent than the public wants to believe) is monitoring and testing all the time, and as yet has not found cause to ban them. This is an interesting article on growth hormones in cattle.…

Mix the cocoa in with a tiny bit of milk and get a paste before adding in the rest of the milk (slowly) and sweetener. Powdered cocoa "flocculates" -- floats on top and clumps. You never want that.

The pesticides used today are infinitely safer than those used when we were kids. You can't drink them, sure, and you need to wear eye and skin protection when you apply them, but those same warnings are on organic pest control products, too. (Oh yes, organic farmers do use pesticides! Just not the biggest guns available.)…

Good point, Ang. 'Natural' and 'organic' are not interchangeable in the eyes of the US food labeling police. Any company can put the word 'natural' on a label. To say something 'organic' requires filling out paperwork and meeting some standards. And then there is 'certified organic' which is the real acid test.

It's calculated based on your current weight, age, how much you want to lose per week, and your activity level. You can change it manually or you can fiddle with those settings and have MFP recalculate it for you -- but bear in mind, 1200 might not be an optimal goal for you.

Welcome to MFP! YOu can also join the Type 2 Diabetes Group here: http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/group/1772-type-2-diabetes-support-group I'll be having a definitive diabetes test next week. I flunked a fasting glucose test by a few points two weeks ago. I had already been on MFP for two months, so making big changes…

Trust me, it can be way easier -- and after it's over, you are FREEEEEEE!!!!!!!! I was done at 42, and believe me, two or three years of hot flashes and night sweats is nothing compared to a lifetime of PMS, pain and everything else that goes with periods.

I've lost as much as five in a week, after two weeks of little to no progress. I then went back over my diary and noticed I was way under my sodium macro for several days. It's water, but still, I'll take it!
