I have an Octane elliptical type machine, treadmill, concept2 rower and stationary bike. I go through phases with which one I like the best, at the moment it's doing GCN spin workouts on the bike. I have tried to get into the rower but I barely it use these days because I just find it hard to get an effective workout. The…

Ideally, I like to workout 2 hours after a nice hearty breakfast, then eat lunch within an hour of finishing the workout. I used to only workout in a fasted state but can no longer tolerate that, i find my performance greatly suffers.

Hi, very sorry for your loss. I realize this post is a little old, but hopefully you are still reading responses. I found out Dec. 23 I had a missed miscarriage. Really sucked because it was incredibly hard for me to get pregnant and I had such bad pregnancy symptoms I was taken by complete surprise. I still had severe…

So nauseous, so tired, but I'm only 7 weeks. I have my first ultrasound in 2 hours. Glad to hear you are feeling better.

That's really exciting @verykatie :) congrats! I definitely haven't popped yet only 6 weeks 4 days. I didn't pop until week 18 with my first and it wasn't really noticeable to others until about week 25. Things will probably be different with #2 hopefully. My big thing this week is that the pregnancy symptoms have got me…

I know a lot of people are going to respond you "you loose fat by maintaining a calorie deficit" but exercise can be a great way to help with that calorie deficit and to help maintain lean body tissue while loosing fat. Kettlebell routines in particular are excellent for this purpose involving high intensity cardiovascular…

Hi, I'm due July 30th. I have an 11 month old (born Dec. 30th). I had horrible symptoms first trimester last time, this time I haven't had too many, but it's still early. My symptoms really kicked in at 7 weeks last time. I have my first ultrasound next Friday, can't wait.

Thanks for the suggestions. I never thought of baby purees! A little bit of maple syrup is working out well in the oatmeal. I honestly can't get over how bitter the stevia tastes, it's horrible. I'm also finding it hard to stomach artificial sweeteners that are in my protein bars and protein powder, and gum, so I'm not…

I completely agree with this. If I keep my cardio short I do both on the same day, but anything over an hour and weights are not do-able. Also if I have a long or intense weight session cardio is not do-able, works both ways.

You are only eating 800-1100 calories per day and feel too full? i honestly don't see how thats possible. I also eat a 40-40-20 Macro breakdown, but 2500-2800 calories per day. I'm 5'6, 115 lbs. If you feel good eating the way you are eating than I don't see the problem, except that if you are not eating any carbs you are…

Popeye's is a supplement store in my area (Canada) like GNC, but better. They have 50% off everything in store and I got a free container (280 gm) of Revolution Pure BCAA with my purchase. It was Blue Raspberry, not a flavour I would normally get, but hey it was free.

Kettlebell workouts, 100%, my favourite workouts.

Definitely some of those early pounds that just appear are due to the hormones and fluids in your body. When I conceived I gained 5 lbs overnight, no joke, that's why I tested for pregnancy, because my fluctuations are usually only 0.2-0.4 lbs day to day, no matter what. I'm back to my normal weight now but in a few weeks…

I'm a runner and I used to run outdoors in -20 to -30 weather (I actually had people tell me I was going to freeze my lungs, LOL). I usually would wear a base layer, then a thin fleece, nothing bulky that would ride up or move around when i ran, then an outer layer. I also wore a base layer pair of long shorts and then…

The staple of my diet is plain greek yogurt, last pregnancy just thinking about it made me vomit. I'm really hoping that doesn't happen this time. We shall see in a few weeks.

I definitely agree with figuring out TDEE you have to do this by trial and error. I'm 5'6 and 115 lbs and my maintenance TDEE is about 2800, every calculator i used way undershot this, likely because I underestimate my activity level. In order to gain i have to eat >3000 calories, currently I'm having trouble with this,…

LOL, well almost every place listed here... In n' out, white castle, Arby's, Denny's etc. I've never even seen let alone been too. Funny. I'm in Canada and there are Popeye's and chipotles every where around me, haven't tried them though either.

I found exercise to be the most helpful thing during my last pregnancy and i plan to stay as active as possible this pregnancy. Try going for a walk instead of mindlessly eating. @VeryKatie, during weeks 7-13 last pregnancy I couldn't eat anything, especially not veggies and dairy. I lived off of cornflakes and chicken…

I'm not a vegetarian but i became anemic last year and therefore monitor my iron intake now. I was surprised to see that the cocoa powder i add to my shake gives me 30% of my recommended daily iron intake, go figure (2 TBSP, 40 calories). It also is a good source of antioxidants. Just add to oatmeal or yogurt or shakes or…

Hi everyone. I just found out I'm pregnant with my second. I have a 10.5 month old. I'm due in July. I was very active with a group of ladies in this group with my first, they are still my friends on MFP, sadly none of them are willing to get pregnant again right now just to go through it again with me ;) @enterdanger I…

Hi I just found out I'm pregnant with my second. My first is 10.5 months old. Are you having any issues with fertility? because if so a special diet/calorie requirement may be outlined to you from your doctor. Personally I have infertility issues and I had to follow a higher calorie diet including more fats and other…

My Orange Theory Fitness Membership. The workouts I do at home in own gym are so much better, every time I went I was so disappointed and ended up doing a second workout at home. But i wanted to like it because so many others did, eventually though I just stopped going because i was sick of being disappointed. Took me…

So this week i put on my one pair of jeans without stretch and although i squeezed myself into them I couldn't move or bend over, needless to say they stayed on about 5 minutes until i decided i should either put on a pair with stretch or risk vomitting/passing out. The scale hasn't moved tons for me, but this has got to…

Hi I'm entering week 11 of my bulk. I started super lean so have nowhere to go but up. Starting weight 115, Ht 5'6. I do 4 sessions a week, 2 lower, 2 upper, but sometimes they are a little more full body, I do a lot of kettlebell moves. I am eating on average about 2700-2800 calories per day. The first 7 weeks I steadily…

Currently 5 days per week, 3-4 strength/kettlebell workouts with 5 cardio (running, cycling, rowing). 2 days of rest with walking/hiking. I used to work out every day with random infrequent days off, and was just spinning my wheels, my fitness suffered and I didn't make any gains. When I started my new routine i read a…

Are you focussing on exercise in addition to diet? Exercise can provide a nice boost in self esteem and accomplishment irrespective of weight. Such as being able to run a mile, doing yoga everyday for 30 straight, being able to do 10 push ups. You could set diet goals, like if you eat fast food, prepare all meals at home…

Hi everyone, I just saw this thread. I just recently cut out all alcohol form my diet as I try to get pregnant again. I never really drank in excess but always had a glass of red wine with dinner. I find that now that I don't have any wine with dinner I justify eating more treats during the day, which i never did before.…

I don't consider them cardio, only toning. I did them during my pregnancy and still did a HITT cycling workout on the days I did the 60 min barre.

Ideally for a post-workout snack you want an approximately 3:1 ratio of carbohydrate to protein. Muscle glycogen is depleted while working out and this needs to be replenished after your workout. After exercise is when your body is primed to uptake carbohydrates to top off the tanks of your muscle glycogen. Simple carbs…

I've made black bean brownies and chickpea blondies, both awesome, chewy and delicious. I've seen many different recipes though, so textures and taste might vary based on the recipe.
