  • Is your fridge usable? Maybe stock some hard boiled eggs (you can buy them already hard boiled) Some yogurts, some slivered almonds. Pre cooked bacon too. Breakfast away from the house is tough for me. Most fast food uses some egg mix & I don't trust the carb content. Local diner fare is safer around here. Veggie scramble!
  • I don't think I had clinical acne, but I always broke out with pms. Usually many on forehead & chin. Since starting Keto about 6 weeks ago I've had 1 pimple total. I'm pretty impressed.
  • Thanks! Feeling improvements each day ☺️ I never considered the association of fasting & repair. I'll have to do some reading, since I have the time lol
  • Ok, the only thing I can suggest is to spread out the dense foods a bit. That's what kept me satisfied in the beginning. I ate every 2-3 hours, but never felt "full". I just felt "not hungry" after I ate. I had to remind myself that it was ok to not feel stuffed because I was going to eat again in 2 hours lol. As I…
  • I love almond butter, nuts, a couple slices of cold cuts. Those are my go to's.
  • Just sent you a friend invite so I can peek at your journal and offer help.
  • If you had to punch holes, then your waist IS smaller. Did you actually measure your waist with a tape measure before you started loosing? Or were you just wearing 52's? Either way, it sounds like you did loose in your waist. Since I've been loosing, I've lost a lot from thighs, hips, arms & legs. I've lost some in my…
  • If you click on the link above a couple squares - it's on the against all grain website.
  • Welcome back! You are so close to goal!! You can totally do this. Stick around & feel free to add me as a friend. I'll cheer for you!
  • I find that every 20 pounds or so I need new jeans, so that's my treat. I have another 100 to go and hope to reach it by next November when I turn 40. I think that deserves a cruise to somewhere tropical, if finances allow. :)
  • Our grocery didn't have jicama, so I skipped it all together.
  • It is! It was good, but next time I'll skip the tomato paste & add lemongrass. I think it's good to appeal to the masses & then we can customize later. And I didn't add the carrot & broccoli to the crock pot. I served them as a slaw on the side instead. So my crock was meat only.
  • And you didn't invite us :o Looks delicious!!!
  • My best advice is to do what you enjoy. You want it to be something you can continue for life! So if you love to dance, maybe Zumba. If you like to walk, go walking. There's yoga, weights, so many options. Try things out and see what you like!
  • That's great! Where do you live? I have a hard time finding a steamed option around me.
  • Back in my skinny days, exercising extra when I indulged, did seem to help me maintain & not gain. It also helped me feel less guilty about indulging. I guess the scale will tell, right?
  • Wow - thank you for sharing the article. Good to know in case anyone I know chooses the surgery. This will help me understand how to better support them.
  • It's a hard transition. I don't worry about the grand parents, or going out to eat, or a treat at school. The only thing I control is what comes into my house. When the preferred options aren't here, he's a lot more likely to eat the healthier options. In my sons case, I didn't have a choice due to health concerns for him.…
  • Chinese is tough! Everything has a mystery sauce. Some places have a "light" menu, where it will be shrimp & veggies, or chicken & veggies without heavy sauce. But even then, there's a slimy clear sauce & I have to believe they add flour thickener to broth. Wish there was a steamed option!
  • Thanks! Me too! I'm not going down without a fight lol. This year - 3 rounds of physical therapy, 3 surgeries & no answers (from the medical community) on how to stop this disease from attacking my body. I'm battling it with a ketosis diet! I'm doing hard core workouts in the gym now - just over the past month. My in laws…
  • Brilliant!!! Talk about commiting!
  • That sounds fabulous!
  • I thought I was the only one who chocolate talked to! Lol. I bought treats that I don't like, on purpose & gave them all out. I also bought myself Atkins treats, so I'd avoid my sons Halloween stash. I tend to avoid processed, but pms sometimes requires me to be creative.
  • Response to Foam, not dragon: And also, if someone is prone to clinical low blood sugar (mine will dip to (30-40) during hard exercise) the piece of fruit literally makes a difference as to whether or not I stay conscious. I've had to pull off the road when driving home from workouts where I didn't have a small amount of…
  • Yes, don't panic yet. It may all be very manageable once you have answers. The waiting is the hardest part! And on a side note - this diet is recommended for auto-immune issues. (Big reason why I'm on it!) I'm "white food" and dairy free due to disabling autoimmune disease. A year ago, I fell frequently, walked with a cane…
  • 1200-1400, 50-80 carbs.
  • Easy for me - I do the shopping & the cooking & the hosting. The menu will be low carb! Lol But for any other occasions outside my home, I'll gravitate to protein & veggies. I'll not arrive hungry. I'll keep Keto snacks in my purse. The holidays can kiss my butt, I got this!
  • It's never too late to start kids on a good diet. My son was raised on a traditional American healthy diet - occasional pasta, occasional sweets, mostly healthy foods. But he was put on (required) meds that greatly increase his chances of developing diabetes.....tenfold. Now, he has no juice, protein snacks, limited fruit,…
  • My mother was diagnosed with hypothyroid and high trigs at the same time. She was put on meds for both. After a few months, her trigs came down to normal levels & she was able to stop cholesterol meds. It seemed the low thyroid caused the trig issue. She didn't make any other dietary changes, or exercise changes. Trigs…
  • It's a process of trial and error. I'm one of the oddballs that has a hard time loosing if I don't eat enough calories. I've never understood it.... But I agree with the others - give it some more time. Your body is in adjustment mode & it may just need a little more time. If the stall continues for a couple more weeks,…
