No outdoor exercise yesterday, but the house looks decent. Just need to freshen up the guest rooms. I haven't done much in the garden this week, but the weather hasn't been great. I might be able to get a bit done after my meeting this morning, but we'll see. My grandson has to give a "how-to" presentation on Friday. He's…

Busy Sunday, but the weather was wonderful for being outdoors. We did some serious work in the garden and then biked along the bay to a super casual, outdoor seafood place for lunch. On the way back, I got a text from my son asking if I'd look over his resume and cover letter for a job he wants to apply for. After four…

@azulvioleta6 - Happy Birthday!!!

After a week of healthy eating, Friday's food choices were questionable at best: donut for breakfast (National Donut Day), fish tacos and corn chips for lunch, hot dog and fries for dinner, followed by a chocolate ganache cupcake to celebrate my son-in-law's birthday. Too much sodium, sugar, and saturated fat, no fruit and…

I'd intended to exercise after class yesterday, but I was thrown off by a situation at the high school where I teach the early college class. Apparently two teens threatened students at another school with gun violence and there were lockdowns in both districts. By the time I arrived to start class, nearly half of my…

June already, with lots of summer temptations ahead. I like the idea of a June snack challenge to remind me to make responsible choices. After maintaining in May, I'm up almost two pounds after the long weekend. Some of it is salty BBQ food, but the chips and ice cream didn't help. I'm pretty happy with how the May…

Happy Tuesday! My husband finally got home on Sunday evening - yay!!! Fortunately, we had a Monday holiday so he had some time to relax. I got off track with food this weekend, but this month I've maintained at just a pound or so above my mid-year goal. So it's back to good habits today. Recap - Sunday, 5/29 Log - No…

I had a really nice Saturday with my grandsons. After a brief downpour at lunchtime, the weather cleared and we went to the park for a walk and some time on the playgound. I got a second walk in at the beach before the concert. It was a gorgeous evening - warm with light breeze - and the light on the ocean was just magic.…

I've got my daughter's boys today, so I'm not sure what I'll get done. If the weather cooperates, we'll all be going down to the beach for a concert this evening. Then hopefully I get my husband back tomorrow! Hope you all have a great weekend! Recap - Friday, 5/26 Log - :) Balanced meals - No. under calorie limit but high…

@Anniesquats100 - You've been doing great! The scale can seem like a fickle friend, but there are so many things that can affect weight on any given day - high sodium, poor sleep, anything that causes inflammation, etc. I'm really sensitive to sodium, and my weight can shoot up a couple of pounds or more after a takeout…

Lots to do today before the predicted afternoon rain, but I'm waiting on an electrician who should have been here an hour ago. Ugh! My husband, who set up the appointment, is stuck in San Diego. He went out for a conference and should have been home a week ago, but the morning of his flight he woke up with a scratchy…

@TerriRichardson112 - I agree that the way we phrase goals for ourselves or for others can affect the outcome. In general, I try to avoid using "no" and "should," which can contribute to feelings of guilt or shame when the goal is not achieved, in favor of wording that emphasizes choice and agency. This strategy works well…

@Snowflake1968 - My heart goes out to your daughter and to you.

Another busy week. I didn't get around to posting goals, but I made good choices and got a lot done yesterday. I also fit in a long walk on the boardwalk after class. Well, I hit my exercise goal this week by working in the garden most of Friday and cleaning and setting up the deck furniture today. My daughter brought the boys over to swim and picked up Mexican takeout on the way. It was a relief not to cook. I got a relatively healthy fajita bowl, ate half for lunch, and saved the rest…

@azulvioleta6 - So glad to hear you finally got your meds. Hope you feel much better soon. @pridesabtch - The college years can be really rough. So sorry your daughter had a mental health crisis, but I'm glad to hear she reached out for help. It's great that she feels comfortable talking to you. We can't help what we pass…

Taking it relatively easy today, so no exercise and flexible goals. I felt pretty good this morning (except for a sore arm). I met my daughter and her younger son at a local breakfast place. My grandson had the morning off, so it was a nice opportunity to do something special with just one of the kids. He ordered chocolate…

I'm somewhat back on track today, logging my food and trying to cut back on the snacks. It's amazing how quickly good habits can unravel. I got my 4th jab (second Covid booster), this afternoon, so we'll see how energetic I'm feeling tomorrow. I usually get a day or so of side effects, so tomorrow might be a good day to…

Dragging a bit today after staying up late to observe the lunar eclipse. We lucked out with the weather, so I sat outdoors enjoying the mild weather. It was quite a show! Thunderstorms rolled in this afternoon, so I settled for nearly an hour on the indoor bike. Summer classes have started this week, so I'm quite busy…

Almost done with Spring grades - yay! I haven't been eating particularly well - just grabbing what's easy and having too many snacks during those late night grading sessions. I've also fallen behind on the May exercise challenge, so I'll have to double down next week. Recap - Wednesday, 5/11 Nap - :) Exercise - No. Spent…

Stayed up until 3 a.m. grading papers last night. I'm feeling wiped out today, so I'm not really up for goals. Kicked off my summer classes today (a week ahead of schedule) so my early college high school kids can finish the 6-week research course by the time their regular high school classes end. The class went well, but…
