So use joe average gym goer just to get a figure, every number related to kcals burned etc is using a basic formula for someone of your height an weight etc. It would be interesting to have a ballpark figure for men/women etc. - Counterproductive to performing the exercise ie high intensity is good but do we keep upping…

Thats the flaw with these short sharp HIIT ideas it will over time improve your anaerobic threshold but wont burn much in terms of calories as its just not possible to burn that many calories in 10-15mins. You'll feel fitter, faster though so they can be a good extra alongside longer aerobic sessions

Im 190lbs and am for 200g approx of protein per day but it depends if weight training or not. Protein is used for muscle repair an growth and is also a hunger suppressant. I think if the OP has a clear goal in mind the macros are easy to calculate. :)

Protein shakes are an excellent, cheap efficient way of getting good quality protein(aslong as you buy a decent shake) especially if you are a fussy eater or vegetarian(like me) then it can be hard to hit the protein numbers. 1g of protein per lbs of bodyweight is good if you are weight training as well as dropping fat, if…

- don't log your exercise as mfp overestimates - increase your protein as its a hunger suppressant and aids weight lose, stops you losing muscle which in turn makes you more efficient at burning calories. - maybe up the calories a touch but stay below your maintenance numbers Terry

No a lady but have been known to dress like one  Try mix it in with cereals or porridge along with frozen fruit that works for me. as for low calorie versions any of the "Isolates" will be the lowest I like "Myprotein" as they are cheap and offer many flavours, also mixes pretty well too, although avoid the choc…

Should be attending my first class this week :)

That is a problem I have faced before as a Vegetarian sometimes it can be difficult hitting the calories and protein numbers required especially if you tend to struggle to put on weight generally, but I gained 10lbs last "Bulk" obviously not all muscle but I learnt alot from it. After I've cut down to 185lbs i'll start a…

That is a plan ;)

So that's two in the camp of hit the correct numbers no matter of where the calories come from? I found psychologically "eating clean" bored me to tears over a relatively short period. I'm not 196lbs and weight training 5 times a week, cycling 20 Miles a day as part of my commute, and focusing ALOT more on my macro…

:D but 35! :o haha

34, taken, model

Sounds good, Im going to give it a go for a couple of months and see for myself if its something worth continuing with.

I've tried a few times to bulk effectively without gaining to much fat, but in my opinion enjoy the freedom of the increase in daily calories, gain the weight you want an cut after. my plan was a lean 210lbs ill get there just taking longer than expected. Sitting at 196lbs now not quite lean enough or big enough haha

Ah yeah very true.

Thanks, its definitely an often overlooked part of dieting and exercising to lose weight.
-
definately, its always something you regret after a while that you dont have that data as a reference point to show how far you've come

I'm being called a "troll" by people trying to keep it off topic, and insult people who disagree with them? isn't that a "troll"? at very least its a bit sad an immature.

different goals for different people, and always a work in progress.

Its got to beat spending years on a treadmill/cross trainer, cardio has its benefits no doubt I'm just saying more folks should incorporate weight training too

I never did myself, but read a lot of the info on his site, etc. You are aware his site does/has more to offer than a sales pitch for the book you are referring to, right?[/quote] I'm referring to the book because its one I have read myself and learnt a lot from, I personally like how in-depth he goes into the subject but…

You read the manual an T&C's of everything you do/use? Don't be silly

Noted

What reason would I be shut down for? never used forums before so I don't know the rules etc

way to contribute...

I agree to a certain extent but very few people will read a 350page tome on barbell training, It would be nice considering how dangerous it can be but very few if any at most gyms will be that well informed

Startingstrength is a great website an book, Mark Rippetoe really goes into great depth about form and technique, you really have to love the subject, not everyone will go that in-depth I think.
