Sunny.. I always refer people to just READ the 18 good tips for beginners on www.dietdoctor.com I go back to it myself on occasion, when I need to reconfirm the delight of high % of fats..it is comforting to see YES you can and should have 70-80% fats..every day..horray. and the MAIN reason is said by others: NEVER HUNGRY,…

Hi Sarah..the livestrong.com site, and others recommend 56 gr protein for men, and 46 a day for women. Because most Americans eat double that amount we are more used to higher meat consumption. The more you weigh however your body does have need to nourish itself, so, not sure but maybe the 75 gr is OK, but maybe 60 is…

Thanks.. I look to Mary Enig, a brilliant 70s-80s researcher who saw the bad science being pushed about hydrogenated/poly/trans/soyoils. The oil people were lying about saturated fats!!! She spoke up, was vilified and tossed out from her career, lost all funding, they ruined her!! (for a while only) she came back strong…

…..with brie and avocado for lunch tomorrow. OHHHH great idea…I needed an "ahem" vehicle for fats myself..so I keep making these.<happy>

why this is so touching and funny???…it is the voice the dog uses BEST EVER…...cracks me up even thinking of it….very good timing on the OP videographer…if you mute it, you can see how well he fitted the words to the head and mouth movements… I needed a big laugh.

Low Albumin is not as much kidney risk as cardio risk I think I increased my Amino Acids and energy increased, so my higher weight may mean i need more than the 3x a day for 150 lb person ( makes sense I have a lot more muscle mass and body mass to support, even as I lose) for those on Dialysis a 3.0-3.3 albumin is very…

you don't have chronic kidney disease..but Albumin is a biggie for anyone.....keeping at least 4.0 is ideal..(I was 3.8 mostly..which increases long term CVD, etc.) a good diet should improve that. What i DO know is I can eat all the veggies I want and stay under <high levels or P&P as long as I drop meat/eggs. ( and a…

Knit…I am avoiding phosphorous as much as possible this month pre-blood test to PROVE to my docs I can change my numbers with diet…so I am holding off on making it til Nov. with me specifically I MUST lower Potassium/Phosphorous to avoid possible heart arrythmia…when the kidneys don't filter enough out via urine it builds…

I did a quick look at 10 days of your diary..and your carbs are looking good…but your fats and protein area almost equal..it seems good the fats are at ~110 range..but 90+ protein a day may be much more than you need to be truly LCHF. ( Most Western people eat double the necessary protein anyway, a luxury others don't…

[clucking sadly]….Now, you KNOW you didnt gain real weight, right? ..so factually you had a reaction to the yam starch product used, or the processing of it, and held a ton of water…so yes, maybe a true food allergy for you…. I love these Dukan/Miracle noodles, some say they smell taste fishy..I barely notice it..but…

What I objected to was the promotion of JUST one woman ( the old blonde who cured cancer twice, and has lived 30+ years) who used the Hoxey clinic in Mexico..now run by the 90 yr old non-medically trained sister of a nurse of Hoxey..( basically inherited the whole thing) so she could have been a ballet dance and now is…

if you think about it..a husk is in the natural state, so will be whole/harder/big …...a flour is always the ground up version..some are finer than others. I have hemp seeds, hulled, no hard outer husk..and I still grind them finer.. for shakes and bread….otherwise you have tiny chewy niblets that taste like walnut…

Calling out your MD for old/dated info seems typical. Good for you! I'm a firm believer in liquid Mg over pills that may pass thru the system too quickly to be absorbed enough. Epson salt warm water foot baths at night may be an added, cheaper option, I use Mg gel liberally on my skin all over every morning, and have NO…

the most negative external thing about being fat is people do assume you are less-smart, or 'stupid'..ie if you were smart you would not 'let yourself go"…no one sees the 25 pounds you already lost unless they see you daily…or knows how much you struggle to stick to a healthy eating plan DAILY..hourly often. And there is a…

I've read studies where a certain amount of PUFAs ( Canola oils, etc) do help with HDL/LDL where saturated fats are eliminated. But it's not such a big deal unless someone has serious HDL/LDL problems to start. I get almost no PUFAs, only saturated fats, maybe a bit of olive oil ( MUFA) and my cholesterol and HDL, etc are…

I sure understand the frustration..putting in serious effort, and the 'body' is not cooperating. I am now in month 9, fast loss the first 4 months, now just maintaining - some my fault, some due to medical issues, and changes in meds, plus being this weight for a long time. ( I think, who knows?) It may be your body is…

Maybe many here do not know WHY the change to eating grains happened?? Good Calories/Bad Calories by Gary Taubes* explains it well…but the basic story is fighting Heart Disease (Eisenhower, the president, had several heart attacks) so from the 60s on Ancel Keyes- with his "7 countries*" research pushed grains, Dr. Adkin's…

I had another 'go round' with my Docs, and got them to agree I can do 60 days on my LC diet, then test for high potassium, etc. On one hand they push the carbs, and eating meat…but when I listen to them my kidney function drops. So doing it my way.. I can stick to a vegetarian LCHF diet, with supplemented essential Amino…

I have seen several studies, and there is a great movie about a mother fighting to give her child a Keto diet for his severe seizures. Here is a LINK: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2_8D1hH7mzo Once you go here see the SIDE window with many more links about this diet for the neuro uses. best of luck to you! also see the…

CINNAMON VERSION a success! OK I made this exactly the same, but eliminated the seeds-flax & sunflower..and increased Psyillium by 1/2 TBL.. Added 2 tbl Stevia in the raw (no other sweetener on hand- will try something else next time or skip it) Added 1 tbl cinnamon ( should have added vanilla too but forgot) the results…

Dragon--It could be easily argued that we are well, well beyond the planet's population limit, OK…go ahead and argue it, some facts would be nice.

OK the bad news is these are NOT 3.5 carbs..at least 8* carbs each. and protein is 11. By adding butter and blueberry syrup to ONE roll it was ~500 calories..boohoo..oh well..Sunday splurge! * 3/4 C Almond Flour - 480 Cal 9 Fiber 42 Fat 18 Pro 18 Carb 3 Sugar so the carbs in just the flour is 4.5--then add in the rest to…

MADE THESE!!! A Great "real bread " treat! I used all the ingredients exactly. I won't complain at all on taste as these are the ONLY bread type food I have ( the LaTortillaFactory low carb seed-based whole wheat tortilla is perfect, but at 8 gr protein for one 8" I was looking for something else, and they are 18 carbs, 12…

I add it to protein shakes, to steamed veggies, to a LC Swedish almond flour recipe (make great rolls), you can add it to just about anything, even mixed into a cream cheese dessert as a bulking agent..

there IS an Adkin's group in MFP..just look for it too.

Why not just skip the potatoes/noodles and eat more veggies? are they too costly where you live? cauliflower/broccoli/cukes are usually cheap..and filling. Food banks always want you to take more veggies anyway. I know potatoes are $5.-$8 for 20 lbs..and Cauli $2-$3. for a 3lb head, rice is $1.+ a pound, carrots are cheap.…

Berries ( strawberries work best) sliced up- use frozen of course, and mix in a food processor with Ricotta cheese- soft-bland..takes sweetener well, a tbl of HWC, and blend a minute..ICE CREAM..instantly! I LOVE this use of ricotta.. I know Italian recipes use it as a base for creamy desserts, (Cannoli?) and the LOW…

Blend for 8-10 minutes????? wow. I make a thick protein shake with almond milk- 1 cup, 1-2 cup spinach/romaine ( which thickens) scoop hempseed protein powder, flavors, and frozen raspberries…gets very thick without Xgum too. maybe it is the very small amount of fluid you use that cause the need for so long a blend? Also…
