My doc also prescribed two weeks diet: 2-3 protein shakes a day, 2 oz. lean meat and a cup of green veggies for dinner. As much liquids as you wanted - sugar free popsicles, jello, broth, etc. Like Rob, the sugar free Popsicles really got me through! I agree - it's pretty challenging, but it really is worth it. My doc made…

Hi Frances! I just had RNY surgery in February. One of my biggest challenges is getting more active, too. Sending a friend request so we can support each other!

Thank you all for these great tips about the Food Diary. It was really bugging me that I couldn't post it!

I agree with everyone CEK, the liquid day isn't as bad as you might think. I liked the sugar free Popsicles and jello because I felt like I was actually eating something. I'm sending good thoughts your way!

LoriBuckner, I too was told no beef or pork for about four months. I was wondering if that was just my doctor.

Hi Jessica - you've been so brave and have persevered through so many challenges! You can do this! I just started my journey with RNY and I have a hard time with protein, too. I'm sending a friend request so we can support each other! Jen

Hi - I had my RNY on Feb. 19. I've lost 34 pounds overall, but a large portion of that was before the surgery from the liver reduction diet. From my surgery weight, I'm down 15, so not that much more than you. I think it has a lot to do with a lot of different factors, so don't be discouraged. My husband keeps reminding me…

Wow! You look great. I just had my RNY on February 19.

Hello and welcome! Just had my RNY on 2/19. Did the same kind of pre op diet you are doing. It was tough, but I'm glad I stuck to it. I had a very easy surgery with no complications. You can do it! Congratulations on taking this very brave and exciting step!

Thank you.

I'm from the winter purgatory of Eden, NY, just south of Buffalo. This February has been very looooong. And very COLD.

Congratulations on taking that first step! I had my surgery on 2/19 and it went really well. Feel free to add me as a friend! Jen

Congratulations! Mine was 2/19 and I've also had a pretty easy recovery so far. I echo Rob with moving around after surgery as soon as possible. It really helps get out the gas they put in during surgery and makes you feel so much better!

Hi Barb! It's hard at first but it's already getting better for me. I went through some wicked caffeine withdrawal and sugar withdrawal. I did it cold turkey, but you have the time to do things gradually, which is great! (I ate like a field hand right up to starting my liver reduction diet last Thursday - LOL! Not a good…

Thank you so much for the encouragement! Today is the best I've felt. I was shocked to weigh myself and see I dropped 13 pounds from Thursday. That's a real motivator!

Hi Everyone! I'm Jen and I'm having the RNY surgery on 2/19/15. I am going through the liver reduction diet right now and having a bit of a hard time. It's not being hungry, it's more the emotional side - missing certain foods, etc. Any advice from the veterans would be much appreciated! :)
