  • Today was a drylander day ..61 minutes on a rowing machine. I hate that I couldn't find any calorie calculators that took meters into account instead of subjective light/moderate/vigorous. (10km) But I did sneak in a 100 meters mixed strokes to cool off/refresh at the end.

  • I exercise because I must ...I much prefer swimming over other forms of exercise, but I don't swim just because I love it so much. I swim because routine exercise is important for long term quality of life. As such, the doing of the exercise is not some transcendent or joyful experience. It makes me tired and sore. So I…

  • Bruce man ...so sorry to hear about your shoulder ...Where there is a will there is a way. Ok so here is my workout plan until I come up with another workout plan ... My audiobook chapters average about 20 minutes long. However its highly variable, sometimes 10 minutes, several this week that were 50 minutes. But in most…
  • yeah ...i'm loving the simplicity and superfast dehydrating time that using luncheon meat is giving me ....but the downside is the luncheon meats already have some carbs from whatever processing they do. I'm not concerned about fat for fat sake ....but stuff I've read about making jerky is that fat doesn't dehydrate and…
  • 60ish minutes ...forgot to look at the clock when I got into the pool ...twas 12:42 in the locker room, and 1:01 by the time I checked the clock ...and I finished up at 1:52 ...I did I think 4 sprint lengths in the last 10 minutes or so of my swim ...
  • about a month into swimming I was terribly itchy every day for about 5 weeks. But it was also the coldest part of the year here so I think the cool dry air combined with the chlorine was just drying me out ....

  • So I had my appointment with the diabetic educator/nutritionist today. He was thrilled with my progress. When I asked him about rest days he seemed to brush off that concern with regards to aerobic or endurance training. Said it was more important with strength/resistance training or if you were training to be competitive…
  • I got my 60 minutes in today but man did I feel fatigued and slow ...Didn't help that the chapter in my audiobook was one about a character trudging along on the edge of exhaustion wanting to lie down and die in the snow ....Not helpful today George R R!! I'm thinking of taking a rest day tomorrow ...it'll be warm under…

  • Welcome Lindsey ...we're glad to have you. I can tell you as a recent convert to the chlorine cult this group is a great place to get all the info you want/need
  • 61 minutes
  • I don't rest after laps. I've noticed by doing open turns I am catching a good breath or two while I get turned around, and I know that can be a bit of a bad habit. But I'm not actually stopping unless I need to dump water from my goggles or check the time. That only takes a few seconds. 'Kick from the hips' ...can you…
  • Finished my week of 8:1 on Saturday, did a drylander workout yesterday. So when I started this series the idea was a way for me to increase the aerobic difficulty of my swim workout without 1) Adding any more time 2) Needing to count laps 3) Watch a timer At first I saw some benefit because i was definitely more out of…
