  • 61 minutes today welcome alicia
  • Ahhh ....DOh! ....That makes muchly more sense then. Altho having now said it I am oddly intruiged by the concept of a diabetic vampire ....
  • That is freaking amazing! Especially since A1C is supposed to be a 3 month average ....to drop from 11 to 4.9 in one month (or less) ...Wow ...I mean like how sure are they that the 11 wasn't a lab mistake kinda wow .... Back of a napkin calculations ... Given A1c is a 3 month average (which is a generalized statement, not…
  • So I tried some 'drylander' exercises today ....boy do I like swimming! I thought I'd try out one of Gold's Gym classes today. Something called CXWorx. Supposed to be a 'core' workout ...that lasted about 5 minutes. I still have way too much belly in the way to be doing crunches of any sort. But I didn't want to give up…
  • 30 minutes ....how to describe my pace? glacial? tectonic?
  • Three cheers for slow miles! I'm right there with you
  • 61 minutes ....and that concludes the initial proscribed exercise by my diabetes doc ..started at 30 mins/day ...add 5 mins every two weeks until you get to an hour. I've been swimming an hour a day for two weeks.
  • 61 minutes, 1925m, 50 minute mile, Personal Best (unexpectedly reached the end of part of my audiobook, had to count laps) I really don't get that way much. I feel a general sense of fatigue and soreness. But I rarely get a 'couldn't swim another lap' exhaustion. I seem to just swim at my 'exercise forever stride'. But I…

  • 62 minutes ... I swim at a Gold's Gym ...its just a 2 lane lap pool, but open 24/7 ...I've been in the water as early as 5:30am and as late as midnight. And at least at mine the lanes are fairly open. I only rarely need to share a lane or wait for one to open. Much more economical than the YMCA or Aquatic Center…

  • 61 minutes. 2.5 chapters of my audiobook, !YEA! (Clash of Kings, sequel to Game of Thrones). I wouldn't say Audible 'let' me convert to non-DRM mp3s for my new Aerb player. But my Tech-Fu is Strong! But alas, this means I once again haven't a clue how many meters I swam.
  • Meant to post in another discussion. While you can edit your posts, doesn't seem you can deleted them entirely
  • 56 minutes, 1600m ...got interrupted tonight by an water aerobics class. With only 4 minutes left on my workout I didn't feel like jumping into another hour AQ - My audio player has been out of commission, so I've been counting. I really want to get back to my audiobook, I enjoy the swims more when I'm distracted. Got a…
  • I'm tempted to go the other direction with this as the title actually says ... a 'sugar free' detox ...ie remove everything sugar free from my diet ...add refined sugars to like my steaks, etc .. (Not really, just an amusing idea)
  • I generally don't mind artificial sweetners, but to me they all seem to leave a horrid bitter aftertaste in soda ...perhaps it interacts with the carbonation somehow? I've just about given up on finding a 'good' diet soda, and have switched to trying to find the least awful. Which so far, for me, has been Diet Mtn Dew. I'm…
  • yeah this seemed to be an isolated incident for me. My fasting numbers are usually around 96 these days, Doc cut my Metformin back to 500mg

  • kudos on managing your blood sugar levels. But like your doc and other here, continue the vigilance. The damage done to your pancreas and your insulin resistance only get worse and not better.
  • 61 minutes today ...last increment in the Doc's original exercise prescription ...
  • I would definitely jump on the 'don't eat back' bandwagon. Keeping a calorie deficit is key, and it is so difficult to be really accurate about calories burned. A greater deficit isn't going to hurt, and eating back risks reducing or eliminating your deficit. Other will probably strongly disagree, but I also think being…
  • My motivations haven't changed much as I am less than 90 days into my habit. When I got the Type II diabetes diagnosis I was determined to at least partially manage it with lifestyle changes. Initially my thought was this would be all about changing my food habits, but my doc made an excellent argument why exercise is a…
  • 57 minutes, 1675m, continuous with a mix of strokes
  • 57 ish minutes ...forgot to check the clock when i started, but I figured back based on my lap times ....1650m same mix of strokes
  • An initial diagnosis of diabetes is made if an A1C is 6.5% or higher. Prediabetes, a risk factor for diabetes, is signaled by levels between 5.7-6.4%. A result below 5.7% indicates a healthy blood sugar level. The typical target for people with diabetes is to get their A1C below 7%, but there are different targets for…
  • 1600m in 30 min or less ...then I can start looking at and thinking about triathelons
