  • Okay - I'm gonna try these (except the medly - I can only do one length of fly at a time and my breaststroke is awful). Maybe do one of them per swim next week? :)
  • 30 minutes at 10/20 actually sounds pretty impressive for a fish out of water. :) I get tired after 30 minutes of cycling - it uses WAY different muscles than any type of swimming. I like your idea of increasing freestyle - you may also want to try doing two lengths consecutively (then lost of recovery breast/back before…
  • 60min of masters. We did 100m IMs - and I did the whole length of butterfly!! Four times! Yes!!!! (The rest of each IM was torture - I was done after that length of fly).
  • Went to the pool very early so I could actually go swimming today - 1000m. (at about 700m my stomach woke up and I couldn't swim much more).
  • 1.9km in 56 min. It was one of those days when it felt like I was swimming through marshmallow fluff instead of water. Then my shoulder started to hurt. Another regular (who likes to call me speed ball) said I was noticeably faster, though, so that made me smile.
  • Ooo, almost forgot- I've signed up for another open water race for the send off June - a 1.5km. Figure it'll be a good test run for my 3.8km in August.
  • Missed yesterday due to work, and boy was I cranky. Masters today - again a different coach (!) He had a stop watch out, and I've apparently dropped another couple seconds of my 50m sprint! (Probably because I had someone to 'race' against).
  • 1.5 hours fun swim with kiddo.
  • Great work! Nearly a month sober - congratulations!
  • 2km in 1 hour. Was tired when I got in, was so tired when I got out that I put my body wash in my hair when I showered... But mentally I feel much better.
  • I have a vitamin c infused body wash for after. I've noticed improvement in the smell, for certain. Itching still required me to use body moisturize after every swim (some days I don't to try and get out of there sooner, it never goes well).
  • 2.25k today. Sprints and descending time sets (well, in theory at least), as well as practicing some stroke work on breast. My arms are a bit sore from that. Have to be careful I don't over do it.
  • I was a little nervous that you hadn't updated, but it's great your spending time for yourself. Congrats on 24 days sober. You're one tough cookie. :) It might have been a bad thing that you fueled the fire in texting, but it's great you could see his manipulative behaviors for what they were: utter bull. I would suggest…
  • Masters today - maybe 1500m. Different coach again. This one offered a written down set (from our regular coach) or we could learn some technique if we wanted for breast stroke. Since I've recently started trying to add breast back in, I went for that. Easier workout, harder on the brain.
  • 2nd swim - 50 minutes fun with kiddo, but definitely not relaxing. He did manage 38 seconds of treading, which is a new best. I am going to regret this extra exercise tomorrow.
  • 2.25km this morning in... 65min? I dunno. Ladder workout today. I'm actually going swimming again in about half an hour because I couldn't take my little buddy yesterday.
  • Sorry about getting dumped. It sucks. Emotional eating is a hard habit to break, but it won't make you feel better. (Believe me, I've tried). Exercise is a good emotional and confidence boost when your life sucks. You probably don't feel like it, but forcing yourself out for some sweating can get some positive endorphins…
  • I did the same thing over the weekend, including the weight - it really is just water. Your body replenished its stores of glycogen, and for each gram of that, the body takes up 4 grams of water. Get back on the wagon, and the weight will disappear again in a week. Remember why you started. What were you try to achieve,…
  • Fantastic! Hope your taking some rest after that. :)
  • Robertus, I bet you could totally manage a 10k sooner than that! Meanwhile, I will continue to work towards a 10k week
  • Nothing wrong with starting with weights. He does need to do a warm-up, though, to prevent injury. 10 mins of cardio (treadmill, bike) is a good rule of thumb, and maybe if it's for the weights he'll be more open to it.
  • You can try to use your shoulders more on the pull - I found that made a difference for me in getting rid of the s curve in my right (non dominant) arm.
  • Choose exercise that you actually enjoy.
  • Total nerd here. :) Fantasy, Anime, Sci-Fi, some gaming (though I don't have much time, lately). Add me if you like. (anyone one here, too. I need more friends). Zombies run has a c25k program, too, btw. I wish I had known about it when I was doing c2k5 - I've never loved running more than with that story getting me going.
  • I also didn't recieve a request. Guessing MFP is having some kinks with groups again.
  • 45mins - 200m warm up, 1800m continuous (except to swear loudly when a guy I didn't even know was in my lane hit me on the head). I was originally going to just swim 1500m, then I felt so good I kept going. Then my body said STOP! :) The 1800 took me 37m15s lol Gently - I'm sure with practice your cafe time will improve. ;)
  • My masters accepts beginners, so no trial. But I can say it was totally worth it - I only go once a week, and have only been five times, and I've already improved so much and gotten a new drive to work myself harder. Honestly, I would expect that the 'trial' is to make sure you can swim from one end of the pool and back…
  • I don't know what province you're in (I do know you said you were Canadian), or even if you got out government loans for school, but for Ontario Student Loans there's a repayment assistance program where you can apply to have your repayments reduced or even deferred (with them paying the interest) for six months at a time.…
  • I don't really feel I can ask for an invite to the group as I just read this thread today, and am completely inexperienced in abusive situations (fortunately), but I do want to say: OP, you are a wonderful human being and have been amazingly strong through this time. Congrats on your sobriety and on keeping away from your…
  • I love swimming and love what it does for my fitness. It burns a lot and provides a full body workout in a way that running or walking doesn't. But as others have said, liking something goes farther than which one is 'best'.
