I agree with those that said one large kitchen. You can have a spare fridge/freezer in the garage or basement.

Another way to kill ants is to sprinkle Splenda (not sure about other artificial sweeteners) on their mounds. They eat it and can't digest it, so they die. Kinda like the cornmeal. Safe for people/pets, but deadly for the ants.
