Right you are, my friend. I agree 100%. My diet is very good, usually organic, minimally processed, lots of whole grains, veg and lean chicken or fish. Just when you eat 4x your bodyweight and are not a hummingbird...well....

got2Bdetermined has her old Barbie collection in her closet. Oops! She told me not to tell you!

I'm an entrepreneur, so at certain times of year (now) I do 12-15 hour days, weeks straight at a time. A yoga teacher taught me this trick: Sit upright; breathe in through your mouth until you can't hold more air. Hold it for a count of 8. Let it out through your nose. Repeat 6-10 times. It brings oxygen to your brain and…

I'm sure you know that there is protein in many non-animal products. I was a vegetarian for 14 years, vegan for six of those. Now I do some chicken and fish. But I will say that what I found most helpful was FIRST trying to eat more of the non-animal products that are high in protein and then SECOND realizing the protein…

Stress followed by Depression followed by Stress followed by Depression followed by...hmmm....anyone else seeing a pattern here?

Oh, wow! It's oatmeal in the morning that seems to make me hungry all day; and you're right - salads at lunch make me want to weep for chocolate or carbs at 4 PM. THANK YOU! Great idea!

ROFL! I take tempting foods and put them down the trash chute, asking myself why in the world I brought that item home in the first place because I know I have no willpower over certain things! Thanks for the giggle!

Wow! Thanks so much. I see that it really is a problem of being unprepared. I'm getting the hang of it. I hope to have success like yours in a few months! Thanks again

Admirable! How tall are you?

Hi there! Sorry for your pain. I'm a rower (on the water) but I believe there are good rowing machines in some gyms. It is a very low impact wait to get a lot of calories burned, and get a great workout. Perhaps you should ask your doctor if you can use a rowing machine?

Oh! That's very interesting. Thanks

So excIting to see your glorious results! Keep up the good work!!!

Anniepi66 I'm 5'9" too, and turned 50 last October. I'm going for 150-155. I figure I sure as heck know how to put it back on if I look too skinny when I get there! We may not have the skin elasticity anymore to look like these beautiful younger women, but let's make a run for it?

Spectacular! So inspiring!

Just for the record, I'm an iced tea nut. I find that 3 bags from the plain (yellow box) Lipton tea + 3 Bigelow French Vanilla (Ralph's in CA, or on Amazon); steeped in a full pot of boiling water for precisely 6 minutes - tastes great. Every one of my guests asks me if I put sugar in it, because the vanilla tricks the…

I drink as much iced tea as I'd like before 4 PM. I probably have 6 oz total 3-4 days a week. If I drink it after 4 PM, it affects my sleep...and I go to bed at 11 PM! Weird, but invariable. I think as long as you ALSO drink plenty of water, you'll be fine.

LOVE this! "Million bucks" and dollar menu. I've rarely eaten fast food per se in my life - my preferred fast food used to be anything that comes in a bakery box. Those days ended...quite recently...

Hi Michele! Thanks for the welcome. I live in LA. I love it here. This post is truly amazing - what nice women! Thanks for including me! Liz

I am laughing hard at your post! That's EXACTLY what brought me onto MFP a few days ago!!! I saw a photo and thought, "That's gross!" and a few hours later, I noticed jowls!!! Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeek! Let's do this reformation! Good luck to all of us!

You look SO pretty! Congratulations!!!

Great job, HefferSprint! You look awesome!

Hi everyone! I've shrunken a little and am now a bit below 5'9". I am back up to 180, which was my peak pregnancy weight...22 years ago! I look gaunt and sickly below 150, so 150-155 is my goal. 25 lbs! Yikes! Frankly, my diet is 99% of my problem. I'm physically quite active. I just starve myself (busy at work, not…

Turtle0022 ***BIG HUGS*** and to you too, jvt63. I really appreciate your input, all three of you!

Hi there Roda - thanks for the tips. I don't know what 16:8 means, though? Can you explain, please?

Wow, I totally get your pain! And I remember ((shudder)) the cafeteria food I ate on campus. (OK, that was back in the Stone Age, but still...) I sense an ambivalence in weight loss. Some others here have also pointed that out. But more than the ambivalence (and whatever fears and worries looking hot might bring up for…

Oh, HELLO everyone! I'm new here. I'm SO pleased to find other women in the 50+ range on this site. I turned 50 last fall and since then, my weight has just pretty much been going up about a pound a month! Gracious! I saw some video where the morbidly obese person claimed this website saved him, so I came to check it out.…

The Mirena caused me to get melasma (dark brown patches) on my skin within 6 weeks of insertion. My GYN claimed that wasn't the cause, but I did the research. I had three mostly-grown kids by then, so it sure wasn't pregnancy or hormones! I have NEVER been able to lose weight as easily since, and now - it's 6 years later -…
