  • Did W2D2 yesterday. I was giving an Anytime Fitness here a trial go (I hated it, btw.) and did my workout on the treadmill. I was DRENCHED at the end. I even upped the last 90 seconds of running to a faster pace and pushed myself pretty dang hard. Despite the fact that my gym experience was less than desirable, I didn't…
  • Awesome! It makes such a difference, doesn't it? I used to wear Nike Frees and when I went to my fitting and we talked, it turns out that they were giving me shin splints! I ended up with a half size bigger than I thought I needed and also bought the Brooks Ghost 7s. I am in love with them! Haven't had an ounce of shin…
  • I did w2d1 today! I finally invested in a heart rate monitor this morning, and it was fun to try and stay in the upper range of my target zone, and get a more accurate count of my calories burned. Way to go everybody! Those of you who have made it through or are far into the program -- y'all inspire me!
  • Thank you for clarifying :) And thanks to everyone with a reply. I guess I was partly looking to her for validation - but y'all are right. I'm my own person and I can do this whether or not she's on board. Right? Right!
  • I'm sorry. I didn't see another thread after reading through a few pages. I was coming to MFP with something I thought was a legitimate problem, and I'm sorry for sounding whiny or anything along those lines. My family is very close and food has always been a big coming together point for us, and I just wanted to ask for…
  • I was drinking a Diet Coke while on recess duty at work today. A student came up to my post and said, "Why are you drinking DIET? You're a skinny lady!" Small, but we all know kids can be brutally honest. From the mouths of babes, am I right?! Especially nice since I took my before/SW pictures this morning and did NOT feel…
  • I know this thread is a few months old, but I have UC, too. I was diagnosed 10 years ago at 15. I've had four flare-ups, all of them lasting quite a long time and very, very bad. I got down to 110 pounds two of the times that I was sick, and I am -not- built to weigh 110 pounds. I have an atypical case because I never feel…
  • Gosh, thank you all! Some great ideas and some really good suggestions for playing around with oatmeal. I love the breakfast burrito idea. I have some deer sausage in the freezer now - sounds like it would be perfect to throw in there. Wish I could add the beans, too, but I have had Ulcerative Colitis for 10 years and they…
  • Splurged on a leftover half of a stuffed potato from Easter. Why? Because I was EXHAUSTED after teaching and had to leave 30 minutes later for a rehearsal. First day of the work-week typically kills me.
  • Also, I've been trying to make my oatmeal with Target's Market Pantry old fashioned oats this past week. I've been making 1 cup with about 3/4 cup water and experimenting with different things in it. I like the taste, but the texture is what's getting me. I guess i need to play around more with the amount of water. I wish…
  • First thing I do is get my coffee going, too! Hit start on the Keurig before washing my face :) I wake up at 5 and have to be out the door at 6. Ideally, I'd get up at 4:40, but I can never bring myself to do so.
  • These are all great! Once I delve into the world of protein powders a little more I will look into protein smoothies. Can someone explain refrigerator oatmeal to me?
  • Yesterday was supposed to be W1D1 for me. Started off great, but began storming 17 minutes into my workout. Had to stop and put it on hold. But some is better than nothing, right?!
  • For right now, I just want to build myself up to local 5ks. My dad has started running halfs , and eventually I would love to run one with him. Ultimately it is just a form of cardio that I love and enjoy.
  • Looking for running buddies and people I can talk nutrition with! I am 5'6 158 pounds, looking to lose 18 - 20.
  • I am actually just about to do Day 1! I was a runner in high school - I ran cross-country and the 1600 and 3200 on my track team. I have fallen off the band-wagon since college and graduation, though and can't even run for five minutes anymore! I really want to "be a runner" again. Good to meet y'all! I'd love to find some…
  • You can do it! I'm looking to lose 20. You got this!
  • Thank you! I was working with the Nike Beginner 5K running program, and it was just too hard. It had me "running" 1.5 miles when I couldn't even do half a mile yet. I will definitely check out the C25K app.
