  • THIS. I had a plateau after only 4 weeks on MFP, then I bought a food scale. I've been losing regularly ever since. The one I bought was only $13 on amazon. I religiously wear a HRM when I exercise (even before I was serious about tracking/losing weight). If you want to eat back your exercise cals, forget using machine…
  • Oh man, I've been there!!!! Peanut butter M&Ms are my kryptonite. I know that if I buy them, I will be defenseless against their siren call. I wish I had a better solution for you, but the only thing that works for me is not to buy them at all. It's easier to walk past them at the store than to resist binging on the whole…
  • I started eating dinner later (around 7:30), which has helped a lot. Beyond that, I typically budget 200 cals for an after dinner treat (usually something with a good amount of protein). Some of the things I eat are: - chobani greek yogurt flips - halo top ice cream - Quest bar - chocolate vita top with buff bake peanut…
  • THIS. I've learned that when it comes to weight loss, it's best to keep your mouth shut about methods. As with politics and religion, everyone's convinced that their way is the right way. I get into with my mom ALL the time about weight loss. She's constantly starting/stopping that stupid Fast Metabolism diet, but remains…
  • Allyson from Chicago Age - 26 Height -5'6" SW - 215 CW - 204 Goal = 150 I'd love some new friends with similar goals!
  • 5'6" and currently at 204. Aiming to get down to 150. Feel free to add me!
  • I'm having a similar problem... I'm 6 weeks into my lifestyle change, but I've plateaued for two weeks now. Being patient isn't something I'm very good with, so I bought a food scale at the beginning of the week ($12 on Amazon) and I discovered that I was seriously underestimating some of my cals. For example, I logged a…
  • I'm also an avocado addict! My favorite way to eat it is plain with a tiny bit of salt. Last week, I made chickpea pasta and topped it with some chicken and avocado pesto and it was awesome. Here's the recipe for the pesto: http://www.delish.com/cooking/recipe-ideas/recipes/a45534/avocado-pesto-linguine-recipe/
  • I was a vegetarian for 8 years, but I gained a lot of weight because I mostly ate carbs. I was definitely an example of an unhealthy vegetarian diet. I eat meat now, but it's mostly poultry and fish. I'll occasionally eat red meat, but not very often.
  • Request sent!
  • 5'6" and 26 YO I started at 215 and I'm down to 207 so far. I'd like to be at 150, which would give me a healthy BMI for my height. I have a large frame and I'm pear shaped (endomorph): most of my weight is in love handles, my butt, and my lower back.
  • SW - 215 lbs CW - 207 lbs GW - 150 lbs I'm 5'6" and 26.
  • Feel free to add me! I currently don't have any friends on here. :)
  • @lohlgren wow, you look fantastic! Way to go! I'm 5'6", currently 207 lbs (started at 215, although my highest was 235). My goal is to get down to 150; it will be my first time (since I can remember) with a healthy BMI! Thanks to everyone who posted their progress pics in this thread for giving me a little preview of what…
  • 1460 is not that bad! MFP gives me 1370 for my cals, and I usually eat around 1400-1500 when I add exercise cals. I find that eating a lot of protein really helps to keep me full throughout the day. I don't eat a lot of meat (I usually just have a little bit with dinner), so I've found quite a few vegetarian friendly…
  • I didn't lose any weight this week. In fact, I gained two pounds despite logging perfectly/consistently, never going over my calorie goal, and exercising daily. Here's the NSV part: I didn't let it upset me. I still went to the gym right after weighing and I ate what I had planned. The old me would have gotten upset and…
  • I can't remember the last time I ate real pasta. Spaghetti squash is awesome - it's usually my go to pasta substitute. I like to have it with turkey meatballs, some marinara sauce, and a little bit of parmesan. Zoodles are okay... they tend to water down whatever sauce I put them with. I definitely prefer spaghetti squash.…
  • My mom does this, and she keeps trying to get me to do it with her. Nope. It's SO freaking complicated. What you can eat changes on a daily basis. It's totally unrealistic to expect anyone who has a normal job to keep up with that. Plus, you can't have caffeine, which just isn't going to work when you're in grad school…
  • I used to be addicted to diet coke. At one point, I would have up to 4 or 5 a day. I started off by switching to 1 Diet Coke a day, and drinking crystal light whenever I felt a craving come on. Gradually, I've been able to wean myself off of all soda and sweet beverages. It took me almost a year, but now the only things I…
  • I've always been a binge eater. It started well before puberty - probably when I was around 10 or so. It's definitely been a struggle to overcome, but I finally feel like I have it under control. The first thing you should try to do is figure out what causes your binges. For me, it was emotional. Whenever I felt sad or…
  • Yesterday, I was really craving something salty and sweet. Instead of going on a binge as per usual, I ate a Dark Chocolate and Sea Salt Kind bar. The craving was totally gone! I couldn't believe it. Even better: today at the gym, all of the weights I used last week were too light! I was even able to do 100lbs on the leg…
