You can keep telling your story, but you lose weight by burning more calories than you are taking in. Doesn't matter if you put it on 10 years ago or 10 weeks ago. Cutting too aggressively is going to unnecessarily cost you more lean muscle mass period. What you do with that knowledge is up to you. Edited to add: Taking…

That's just not how it works. You don't shed "lazy weight" (whatever that is) any differently than you do "regular weight"- through a calorie deficit. My husband started off about the same size as you, underestimated his calorie needs (also a very active job and a weight lifter) and lost 30 lbs in under 3 months. Yes, he…

To expand on this thought,"healthy eating" requires both quality and quantity. Are you eating back your exercise calories? (you are supposed to)

If you are struggling with it, does that mean you and your doctor have not yet found the proper med level for you yet? Once it is being properly treated, it should have minimal impact on weight loss.

Really hoping this is a case where the person doesn't know what the "woo" button is for :/ Eat what you like. If you want to try to incorporate more veggies, you can say so and I'm sure folks will have some good strategies for you :)

I never thought about this... I often wondered why some links didn't work. Sadly, if the good folks at MFP have never seen fit to make our recipes searchable, I doubt there will be a fix for this anytime soon.

It's January 9, so we'll probably start seeing this question- bump :)
 -
Yep... my diary is heavy on Greek yogurt, eggs, soups, and has a scattering of fruits & veggies (I honestly would like to improve on that), but also a lot of pizza, pasta-based casseroles, mashed potatoes, snack size candy bars, and cool whip (for the yogurt ;) ). Oh, and tonight, 3 servings of Fruity DynoBites (I had the…

Some of that is water weight, but you must still be way under-eating during your calorie window. :(

The only thing you need to be concerned about as far as food choice and weight loss is satiety. Whatever you need to eat to keep you happy & satisfied long enough to stick with it and lose weight is fine. A secondary concern is to get enough protein, since weight loss can also take a toll on our lean muscle mass, but a…

I would venture to say that many here have achieved & maintained weight loss without protein shakes or stuffing themselves with veggies. Why do you think these things are necessary?

                Another bump :)

Welcome :) So I get the sense that you do care now, but you should know that I have found that even sometimes when I lack the motivation to make good choices, I can get by by just focusing on the math & what I need to accomplish that day, or even that meal. If you set up your profile and choose a modest weekly goal, it may…

Lol... I skipped over this thread several times (not noting the author) thinking it was just another person soliciting opinions... the opposite of click-bait ;) Your "warning to women who lift" got me though... thought it was going to be like the one where the guy ended up with sepsis from the gym :(

Just an FYI... "woo" here (for example, the woo button) is a bad thing ;)
 -
That's what we often see here though... people focused on their exercise routines and no mention of diet.

I actually started a thread on that article last week... here's the (brief) discussion: https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10716838/article-why-exercise-wont-make-you-lose-weight#latest For most people, exercise buys them a small amount of buffer calories. The bulk of the calorie deficit needs to come from…

All I know is that there are lots of long-time users on here successfully managing their weight, despite all the glitches :) As to whether PREMIUM is worth it, that's up to you ;)

People often tend to under-report their calories and over-report their activity (not saying you do- it's just extremely common). Many professionals have this in mind when issuing advice. It's not unusual for a doctor to tell extremely overweight individuals to go on a 1200 calorie diet when, according to their stats, they…

Just be careful, OP. Others can speak to this better than me, but I don't think it's advisable for a relative newcomer to train so aggressively with no rest days. If you give yourself an injury, it could set you back for a long while. Moderation in all things. Wish you the best :)

Yes, which is about what the TDEE calculator gave you.
 -
Have you been exercising like this for a while because you enjoy it, or did you just start it recently as part of your weight loss plan?
 -
Honestly, I think the estimate seems low, considering you are already considered "active" and are adding in 2 hours of daily cardio on top of it. No way to know for sure except to pick a method and stick with it for 4-6 weeks and see how your real-life results compare.

Sedentary is not the same as BMR. It includes up to 5000 steps a day.
 -
Wait... what? 2 hours of cardio daily? Are you training for an event?
 -
Your activity level is intended to be your average day-to-day stuff. Purposeful exercise is intended to be logged separately and the calories eaten back.

MFP, can't you just drop the known issue link in these threads so we can clear out the forums?

Servers crashed due to January volume. They're working on it. Can't wait for February.
