Hi! My name's Allison, too - but with 2 L's. Only started MFP in January.

Hello. I take synthroid and get my levels checked once a year. I have found that having an underactive thyroid in no way impedes my weight loss. Years and years ago, I used to think it did. But, then I started taking a good look at how many calories I was eating. And, turns out, I was using hypothyroidism as an excuse for…

Do you like gardening? I do - hydrangeas are my fave.

No - it was humorous - clever, even. You didn't fail. I just didn't know the backstory. Thanks for explaining. How is it that you determined the bear is your power animal?

Clever post. I just don't understand the references to bears, grizzlies, bear power, juice, etc. I feel like I'm missing something ...

When I lost 65 pounds last year, I did it by eating between 1200-1400 calories per day. Also, eating 6 smaller meals throughout the day. Having my macros at about 50-25-25. Making sure I had fresh veggies each day. Adding in exercise - walking, elliptical, exercise videos, free weights. And, getting a fitbit - because it's…

To the OP - what does your Endo have to say about sugar and artificial sweeteners and thyroid disease?
-
This is just my suggestion - I know other ways work for other people - this has worked for me. I would suggest finding a calorie level that you can lose with - maybe 1200, 1500, 1800. (but, how do you determine this? I think there's some calculators around.) Break your day up into 6 meals - breakfast, snack, lunch, snack,…

Hello - I'm from Northern NJ.

I get Jif brand also. When I'm not lazy, I'll make it fresh in my Vitamix.

Cookies are bad for me too - they're just not filling enough - and way too much sugar - especially when you have over the serving size. I recently swapped out fiber for sugar in my food diary. And, I've started looking at the sugar content in things - figuring out the teaspoon equivalent and then asking myself if I really…

I'm fine with being just a Vegetarian. Good for you for trying out being a Vegan. You can do it!

It's definitely helpful to keep track of what you're eating. Then you can analyze things and make changes as necessary. I also sometimes use the food diary as a meal planning guide for the day. Fill in everything, and then just work off of it for my meals. Snacking is so difficult some times. I've been cheating the last…

I would recommend going without diet soda for a week or 2. And, see for yourself, if there's any difference in how you feel, or in your weight loss.

Here is what I use for protein: dannon light fit greek style yogurt, egg beaters, veggie burgers (such as boca, morningstar farms,) gardein products, quorn products, nasoya tofu baked, protein shakes, quest bars.

Is it really dark all the time where you are? Where I am, it is cold, and we will get snow - but, many days the sun is shining. So, I just like to be by a window to experience the sunlight. Also, since it's too cold to do things outside, this time of year makes me get on my elliptical again, and do indoor workout videos -…

Hi - How mean those people are to refer to you in derogatory terms. I was 49 a few months ago. I have an elliptical at my house, and a very supportive husband - who is also getting fit along with me. I have about 50 pounds I want to lose. I'm a Leslie Sansone fan, too! Just did her mile off her youtube channel.

I use 3 TBSP of half and half in my 10 ounce coffee. Wouldn't dream of using butter, tho. If I wanted higher fat, I think I'd add more nuts to my diet (not coffee.)

I used to be in my forties - over 3 months ago. The good ole days.

Nutrisystem is calorie based - usually 1200, 1500, or 1800 calories per day. Remember that you can change your MFP food diary to 6 meals per day - breakfast, mid morning snack, lunch, afternoon snack, dinner, dessert - to go along with the NS program. (yeah, I did NS before.)

I'd be interested in having more chatty friends. I like to post and comment. Sometimes it seems so quiet in my friends list. I want to lose 50 pounds.

Hi there. I'm a Vegetarian - let me know if you need any advice about food!

I'm doing 1300. And, I don't adjust for calories burned.

Getting a good night's sleep is definitely beneficial to your health. That being said, sometimes life happens and things just work out so you can't get as much sleep as you need. What to do about that? I don't know. But I will say that not getting enough good sleep for me has NOT hindered my weight loss.

I recommend Nasoya brand TofuBaked marinated baked tofu. I've found 3 flavors - teriyaki, chipotle, and sesame ginger. You get 4 pieces in a package - and you can eat them from the package cold. The teriyaki is my fave. The chipotle is spicy.

I'm trying to make using my elliptical a daily thing. I stopped using it last year when the weather warmed up. I also want to get back into using free weights, doing aerobic videos, and yoga. I'm looking to lose about 50 pounds.

My food diary is open, too. But, I only have a few days worth so far. Feel free to look and friend me anyone.
