Nothing new here. I went to the city yesterday, one of our state's hot spots. I got my hair cut, ate in my favorite restaurant, and picked up my Walmart grocery order. I go back on Wednesday for an orthopedic appointment. The virus is definitely making itself known in our state after months of low rates so I am awaiting…

I loved Biden's speech last night. I also loved how the gatherings across the nation were peaceful. Truly a historic moment with Kamala Harris being apparent vice president-elect. Her speech was inspirational to young women.

Miracles do happen! When President-elect speaks to Congress as President, he will have two women backing him or sitting behind him: Nancy Pelosi and Kamala Harris. I am with Maryanne, there is joy in knowing that we apparently will have a woman vice president.

Time for a change! As individuals, we must take the responsibility of ensuring that we make the most of each day and control those things we can control....today is National Donut Day!

I can remember when there were several candidates for the office of President and the nominating conventions produced the one for each party that survived the process. Now, the conventions just rubber stamp the person who apparently is the only one the party wants. It was an exciting time. I go back to the time of Huntley…

I'm not worrying about Thanksgiving or Christmas. I treat them like another day. As long as I have pumpkin pie in November, I am satisfied.

Did you know you were supporting Trump? (Bloomberg) -- President Donald Trump made fun of Senator Kamala Harris’s laughter, called House Speaker Nancy Pelosi “crazy” and said one of his female interviewers was “crazed,” yet insisted at a Pennsylvania rally on Monday that suburban women will support his re-election.

The no mask/no stay at home crowd believes it is something that can go away easily like a cold or a flu and know someone who had Covid-19 and easily recovered. They don't consider the reality that they can transmit it to a person who does not recover. It is "all about me" and the belief that others are like them. I had…

This is odd or funny, or whatever. Earlier today, I posted a reply based upon Pam's great post. I read it, submitted it, checked another site, came back and it was still there as posted. I was getting ready to post another when the phone rang. I came back and the earlier post was gone. There are people who live in a…

Personally, I wouldn't mind getting another stimulus check. My state retirement is fixed and has been for 20 years. I took one of those methods to determine the impact of inflation over that period of time. Basically, it said my state retirement needed to be $1000 more a month to have the same purchasing power it did 20…

I had a great night of sleep, getting in over 8 hours. The reason? I guess I was tired from driving 447 miles yesterday. I knew the weather was going to be good yesterday and today, so I had a back up plan in effect if I was not called to work. I went on a driving tour of the mountains by using a combo of interstates and…

It is a real shame that Melania had to call off an appearance because of a cough. Shame that the President couldn't share his magic cocktail with her. I loved reading the comments on the NBC News FB post about it.

I am at the point I am considering ordering the week ends off plan from Nutrisystem again. I didn't mind the food and it was convenient. I am off to the city at the Walmart there to pick up my monthly grocery order. That is 65 miles one way, but they carry foods I like. I am debating what the Winter might be like and if I…

Many of the foreign countries are shocked at the number of deaths, etc. in the United States. Many of the countries idea of quarantine was more stringent than ours. Australia, early on, closed its borders and would admit only its citizens returning home. Those had to spend 14 days in a hotel room with no possibility of…

My first job was working in a Sheriff's Office while going to college. Trust me, that was an interesting experience. After college, I worked one year as a teacher in a city school. I wasn't crazy about teaching but I did see what the counselor did, so I went back and got my counseling degree to work in schools and was also…

Helene--I have had 4 hotel stays and have found each one of them was on top of it with the precautions, etc. I have never had an issue with food purchased via a drive thru or the way it was handed to me at the drive thru. We can't hide out forever but we can use common sense to avoid situations that might create problems.…

Our state's positivity rate is 2.8% as of yesterday. The national rate is 6.65% and Maryland is 7.54% according to the state posted info today. It is starting to increase here and it is reflected on the map of colors that indicates severity and status of instruction for the coming week.

Pam--I do hope you find a solution for your headache. I had one hour of sleep last night from pain. As a result, at 3am, I went online and cancelled the job I had today. I didn't think lack of sleep would work with first grade students. Our system is moving from a choice of virtual full time or 5 day in-person instruction…

Maryanne--Our state posts figures everyday, including comparisons to surrounding states. This graph shows percentage of people being tested. The U.S. average is 34.79%, West Virginia is 36.22% and Maryland is 28.64%.

When they say "this is the new normal," I am taking it quite literally. With mutations possible, I expect at least another year of this. March, Friday the 13th was just the beginning for me. I did hear on the news this morning that our state had the 2nd lowest positivity rate.

I just want my $1200 but with his Highness frequently changing his mind, the airlines and I are in limbo. You don't make decisions without thoroughly considering the impact.

Plexiglass dividers are in common use here, even in schools.

I didn't read the article but figured the link itself summed it up without clicking on it. Our state's positivity rate for yesterday was 1.52%. I am used to wearing a mask all day.
-
"Whatever will be will be! The future is not ours to tell." Don't ask me what motivated that unless it was Maryanne's quote from the February People magazine.

I forgot about the debates and was watching Netflix. When I switched it off and returned to my channel of choice, I couldn't believe what I was seeing and hearing. Disgraceful. I saw enough to turn it off. I worked today and will also tomorrow.

Back from Tennessee. It was a wonderful getaway. Five days of no TV. Have no idea what happened in the world but it was wonderful to escape politics, etc. I did sneeze hard on the way back, and now have a very red eye from a blood vessel that burst and spread blood over the eye. I see fine, but it looks interesting. I did…

Pam--I am so sorry about the COVID-19 issues in your family. One never knows when it will hit close. I have subbed two days this week. I was very impressed with how things were handled. Each student has a laptop on which the State has loaded the essential power points for the class to which the teacher will elaborate and…

Sad times as the democracy fades into non-existence. Will more of "Do as I say, not as the Constitution says" continue? I got in 5 days of 60 min each of exercise this week. I had a Wendy's half-size apple pecan salad for lunch.
