Honestly, 180 calories is not a "meal replacement" for me. Whenever I did Slim Fast I'd drink a shake or eat one of the bars and would be in the loo the rest of the afternoon. So I'd basically be starving. Not everyone experiences such lovely side effects of the products (I have IBS and am extremely sensitive to some…

I keep it in the pantry, otherwise I can't spread it.

That's the juicer my sister owns. She loves it.
-
May I just recommend something? Not trying to talk you out of a juicer if you really want one, but I would encourage you to lean more toward a high-power blender (like a VitaMix) rather than a juicer. Juicers remove most of the fiber and leave you with a sugar laden, calorie dense juice that is not going to satisfy you…

OMG Yasssss! Some things I wish they would bring back? SnackWell's non-fat chocolate cherry yogurt, Cinn-a-Burst chewing gum, Jello 1-2-3, and those Disney fruit ice pops that were grape, cherry, or orange on the outside and had a vanilla ice cream center.

You have to decide for yourself you're no longer going to allow yourself to make excuses and feel defeated. Weight loss is part science (calories in/calories out) and part mental. If you believe you're just going to fail, chances are you will. A lot of us have busy lives. I'm a mom and I watch my toddler nephew during the…

Boneless skinless chicken breast, whole eggs (from my own hens), non-fat Greek yogurt, quinoa.

I don't know anything about amino acids, but yes, you can drink too much water and throw your electrolytes off kilter. My friend's husband just spent the night in the hospital because of this. He used to drink nothing but beer, sweet tea, and sodas. One day he decided to go off those cold turkey and down like two gallons…

I confess that I'm about to go to Starbucks. I have the extra calories, and I'm not sorry LOL

I think it's more that people who come from a program like WW that offers "free" fruits and veggies (with a caveat - that you stay within the 5 servings per day) don't understand just how calorie-dense some fruits and veggies can be. If your daily target is, say, 1300 calories and you eat that in conventional prepared…
-
Precisely. WW assumes instead of tracking those fruits and veggies that you're going to be staying within their Good Health Guidelines, which is something like 5 servings total of fruits and veggies per day (unless you weight 350+lbs). I mean, I know the general mantra is, "no one got fat from eating carrots and…

Yesterday morning my breakfast was over 500 calories, even though it was healthy. Guess what it was - a smoothie with blueberries, oranges, pineapple, a half of a frozen banana, a sliver of ginger root, a sprinkle of reduced fat organic coconut flakes and 2 tbsp of non-fat vanilla Greek yogurt. The majority of those…

My aunt took fen-phen. Prescribed to her by her primary care physician. She lost about 30lbs, but she needed to lose close to 180lbs. Then the FDA pulled it from the market and my aunt was left with IBS, a dead thyroid, and now she's heavier than she's ever been and needs the assistance of a cane to walk. Diet pills are…

This^ I did WW twice, and both times lost about 20lbs and then plateaued and could never understand why. The problem, for me, was the Simply Filling Technique which allows you to not track points on fruits (except avocados), vegetables (except corn), whole grain breads, fat-free dairy, and fat-free condiments. So, here I…

I've been eyeing the Charge HR, but I'm concerned it won't be compatible with my HP Chromebook. Anyone know if it is?

My vitamins usually turn my pee colors mid-day. But, usually my first and last pee of the day are clear. I drink water all day from a 27oz bottle and I will fill it, and finish it, about 4 times daily. So I'm drinking slightly over 3 liters of water daily.

Bananas and milk together are not bad, so long as you have the calories to spare. What can make it less than healthy is if you load it up with refined sugar, but that still wouldn't make you "fat" if you had the spare calories.

I plan on eating a small portion of potato salad and some baked beans, but will prepare ahead of time a chicken breast for myself while everyone else eats hot dogs.

Fresh pineapple, vanilla Greek yogurt with granola, Annie's Bunny Grahams.

I'd say Vitamix, but I'm extremely biased since that's all I've owned. I own two. One is the less costly one you can order through QVC on special, the other was a gift from my aunt and it's the professional model with the 64oz container. I also own the dry blade pitcher, which is not cheap, but worth every penny. You can…

The only one I've ever owned is the one I purchased through Weight Watchers. I use it several times throughout the day to accurately track portions. The one I'm linking below got a ton of good reviews, and it's reasonably priced: EatSmart Precision Digital Kitchen Scale

Not everyone has a thick skin. Being able to handle being attacked on a message forum needn't be some prerequisite to internet usage. While we can't 100% discern tone via the written word we can discern what is a personal attack and not everyone has the fortitude to withstand being attacked. Did the OP get snippy in…

Exercise strengthens the cardiovascular system and tones the body. It also keeps your metabolism in check. Yes, in keeping with CICO, you could eat and have a calorie deficit and never exercise and still lose weight. With all that said, I find that when I eat healthier I have more energy and I am motivated to be active. If…

That's my thing. The whole, "grow a spine" or "this is the internet" or "we're not going to sugarcoat it" arguments don't fly when they're used to defend being a bully to someone who makes an honest mistake. If someone says something nasty or they're trolling or they're outright hostile from the get-go, that's one thing;…

Yes, but not everyone on the internet is a perpetual jerk, completely incapable of discussing facts and reality within the context of civil discourse. It's like the simplest of threads here derail into crap, because people can't resist the urge to be rude. It's like, Jesus Christ, does dieting make everyone here crabby or…

Dinner is the one meal I tend to accidentally over-indulge with, so I will usually pre-log my food, and portions, in the morning and stick to it.

Are you looking for convenience, or low-sodium? Homemade black bean burgers are amazing. I would take dry black beans, soak them, cook them, mash them up. I'd add in oatmeal (since many breadcrumbs are not vegan), a low-sodium Tamari, corn kernels, cumin, black pepper, finely diced yellow onion, pressed garlic clove and…

Get yourself an adult fitness hula hoop. You would want a 160psi 42" hoop to start with. Check out Hoop Mamas Etsy Shop Hoop Mamas Custom Budget Hoop I have four of her hoops and love them. Hooping was really the only exercise I really enjoyed. I need to get back at it :)

I know I wasn't the OP, but these responses have been very reassuring for me as well. Now I know it's okay to have that breakfast smoothie with berries and greens.
-
I'm curious to know this as well, because I love to have a raw smoothie for breakfast with just water added to it and some greens. By the time I've added up all of my fruit and veggies into my tracker I've hit my sugar limit for the day >:(
