Are you going to be on lakes, rivers or salt water? And what's the average water temperature in your area? I'm in a cold water area so I've got a sea kayak and can speak most about those (and why you might really want to consider a wetsuit or dry suit in areas like this).

I just did the very same thing: my weight held steady or slightly increased for 8 weeks and then I dropped 5 lbs below my starting point in week 9. (I was aiming for .5lbs per week so it's exactly on target.) It's got to be water to change so quickly.

I wear 1 size larger than whatever size is sold in stores. At present that means women's 14 (used to be 13 pre-kids) and they are super narrow so mens tend to not work so well either. I'm 6'1"

If you go to a doctor I'd be interested to hear what he/she has to say. I get something like this. Those are gorgeous photos, Don. We hiked Mount Pilchuck yesterday - about 4.5 hours round trip but it was fogged in so I didn't take pictures.

I've only been kayaking but I see paddle boarders more frequently now. How much wind or waves can there be before it becomes a bad idea?
