This is perfect!!

I'm so proud of you and so happy for you! And I have to say, seeing you in my feed every day is a huge positive light :) I think I'm about 12 lbs away from my goal. That would bring me to 124ish. I might end up wanting to go lower (121 or so) but I'm just going to keep cutting until I reach 124 or it's my birthday in…

I love this! So true. I try to remind myself every morning that today, I'm one day closer to my goal than I was yesterday. Sometimes it's easier to internalize that than others though, so thanks for the reminder :)

Also just wanted to say that soy IS a plant (or technically, a legume) and that none of those listed are sources of complete protein.

Oh, and another tip I would add is to double up your protein sources in meals. Tonight I had red beans and rice with a cut up veggie dog in there. Try to combine edamame, quinoa and beans - or something like that. Also, despite it being brought up all the time for vegetarians, nuts really aren't a great source of protein.…

I'm a vegan and I get between 100 and 110g of protein daily (I'm a 5'5 female at about 135lbs, currently). I find that I have to make a conscious effort to incorporate protein into my diet, but it's not that hard. I eat a fair amount of soy and start the day off with a protein shake which has helped tremendously. I also…

Mm these look so good! Especially those crepes :)

I drink almond milk because I'm lactose intolerant and don't eat (or drink) dairy. I also like that it's very low calorie (especially the unsweetened kind) because I really only use it in smoothies or something where the almond milk is just a filler. I don't think there are necessarily any health benefits, barring you…

A "best before" date is different than an "expiry date", although my understanding is that the U.S. and Canada require all food items to be stamped with one or the other. There is no harm in eating most food items past their best before date, it just means that the manufacturer can't guarantee optimal freshness past that…

I'll probably stick with my Frostees then, but continue to ogle your glorious fluff creations. You're a master ;)

Just out of curiousity, has anyone tried this with a vegan protein powder? (I use pea protein). There seem to be mixed reviews online. Right now I just mix my chocolate protein powder with a frozen banana and a splash of almond milk in the food processor for what I call my breakfast "Frostee" which I find filling enough…

If you're looking for vegetarian recipes, my favourite are from Oh She Glows.com. The Minimalist Baker also has some good stuff and I believe (?) they post nutritional information.

I'm a grad student too so I totally understand how hard it can be. Like others have mentioned, try to get in steps where you can. Get off the bus one or two stops earlier and walk a little further to class. When studying, I find it actually helps so much for me to get up and talk a short walk to fill up my water bottle…

I've never used it without a blender, but I've used both the chocolate and vanilla and really like both. I never drink them just as shakes - I always add a banana or some frozen fruit so I would say that the flavor you choose has to do more with how you're planning on using the powder. The vanilla is nice and mild to mix…

I love it and can't recommend it enough. It's very structured and easy to follow which I really enjoy. My upper body strength is definitely my weak spot, but I'm really really pleased with how I'm progressing. :) the app is handy too!

In my experience, you'll know when they shouldn't be used anymore. There is a particular smell and a bit of a film that develops on them. I think a few days and up to a week is fine though, depending on how you're storing them.

I haven't eaten meat in over 7 years, but the one thing I miss sometimes is sausage. Like god**amn those things are good. My partner is always brining home different sausage varieties too which sound so good. Turkey apple sausage? Yum. Also, depending on your childhood experience with it (wink) meat loaf can be super easy…

As well, as another poster suggested, if you eat dairy then you have a ton more options available to you. I see Greek yogurt in a lot of people's diaries as a great protein source.

I am a vegan and since I started logging it and tracking it on MFP, I feel like I've made leaps and bounds with my protein intake. I'm now getting ~100 grams a day as a 5'5 female at 135 lbs. I find that you really need to purposefully plan to have protein with every single meal. I used to snack on a lot of fruit, which I…

I actually need to buy new pants right now because my jeans are too big, but I'm putting off spending the money for as long as possible. I'm somewhat close to my goal weight - but also have quite a large range because I just don't know how the weight is going to come off and how I'll look once I get there. (I'm at 136…

Yes, please! I'd love to hear about your experience :)

I say this as a vegan - probably not. It works really well for me, but I also have some food allergies and intolerances. I also don't think there should be pressure to go "totally vegan". If you want to start incorporating more plant based foods into your diet, go for it. But it doesn't have to be an all or nothing thing.

Aren't they the same? Not sure if I'm understanding correctly ... A cup is a cup, whether measured in a single measuring cup or a "liquid" measuring cup.

Barring some small noob gains, gaining muscle requires eating at a caloric surplus, which it doesn't sound like the OP is doing. It's not something that usually happens by accident - it is a purposeful and challenging process. This is especially true for women. +1 for water weight. Also, are you weighing your food? You're…

It seems like if somebody did that, they wouldn't be vegan? And I mean there's nothing wrong with that, at all, but you're not a vegan ...

I'm a vegan and have been for several years, and I agree with all of this. It works great for me, but definitely not for everyone. My partner eats meat (and a lot of it) and always will, so I really think people need to do what works for them. That being said, I don't personally see veganism as restrictive, and I think…

When I read this, I assumed the concern was about leeching chemicals from canned food into the food? (My parents use to talk about this a lot, for some reason.) If so, this is not a prevalent concern and not something to worry about :)
-
Umm, no. Just no. It is a very slow process - and you're right, it has to do with diet. When you see people with visible abs, they all have a low BF%. That's why they are visible. So keep on doing what you're doing and be patient!
-
That's great! And thanks for the update. I always love it when people come back to let us know what worked (or didn't). Keep it up!

I have a stupid question. I've seen this stat quoted frequently on MFP - is it per of body weight or per pound of LBM? I always assumed it was LBM but would love to be corrected if I'm wrong.
