  • Hmmm...protein with glucose. Interesting combination but it sounds an awful lot like the combination found in a piece of whole grain bread with peanut butter. And me thinks the bread/peanut butter combo blast is better tasting and contains more nutrients

  • Unless you have a deficiency, don't take any. people have a tendency to think if some is good then more is better but that's not true. In most cases, the supplement form of a vitamin isn't as effective as receiving the vitamin from a food source so don't just take a supplement willy nilly. Beta Caratene is a great…
  • There is an upper limit set at 2000mg per day. While it is a water soluble vitamin and MOST excess will be excreted it can cause problems if taken above the UL in the long term. Too much can cause digestive problems and nose bleeds. Those with kidney disease have a greater risk of developing kidney stones and it's been…
  • An important point to keep in mind is that the potential for harm exists if protein is consumed in excess. Such harm is most likely to occur in the individual who consumes protein or amino acid supplements. For example, excess protein may lead to dehydration, because protein metabolism requires extra water for utilization…
  • Therein lies the myth...the body does have a die hard limit on protein. The body simply can only use so much protein and once it is done building all the enzymes, hormones and cell structures it needs, then it's done. Once the body builds all the proteins it needs to transport molecules around your body then it's done.…

  • Not exactly what I meant Packerjohn. But let me ask you then...let's say your body needs 50 grams of protein to meet its needs for the day. You end up taking in 70 grams of protein. What do you think happens to the extra 20 grams? What do you think the body does with it?

  • You would think so right Capaul....but your body can only use so much protein. The body will use exactly the amount it needs...no more and no less. Eating extra protein doesn't suddenly unleash a hidden mechanism in which protein gets used. The body will figure out if you are in a caloric deficit and can use protein as an…

  • Both are complete proteins meaning they provide all the essential amino acids...so that's good. When comparing the value of proteins as far as how well they are used by the body, the egg is used as a protein by which all others are scored. In that respect the egg is given a score of 100 and whey is scored at 104 (so a…

  • There are all kinds of schools of thought on how to eat and move and for the most part it creates healthy debate. As long as it supports metabolic fitness then I support each person's way of life. But please I beg anyone reading this thread to NOT do the 10%-20%-70% ratio. There is just no science to support this kind of…
  • Hey OODone...at 113g of protein it looks like you are around 30% of your daily intake as protein. For protein you want to be between 10-35% of your daily intake, which you are. At 1500 calories a day you could be between 38 and 130 grams So, here's the scoop. You want your macros to look like this: Carbs-45-65% of your…
