In regards to using ma’am and sir, what about children calling elders aunt and uncle? I grew up referring to my parents friends as aunt and uncle as a sign of respect. Is this abnormal?!

Tbh I would use both depending on my mood and the context of the conversation. I’m also considered an American to most Ontarians. I’ve heard sayings my whole life like, “anyone passed London is actually American.” It used to annoy me, now I embrace it.

Depending on where you’re going in Michigan, it can seem like it takes forever. My brother lived in Sault Ste. Marie for many years. We would drive up to visit him. That ride was horrendous!
