  • I don't understand Internet marketing. I Google something, buy it and then see ads for it. If I already bought it, what is the point of showing me ads for it? I have never clicked an ad and purchased something. Not because I am against them but because I have either already purchased or have no interest.
  • I will not be surprised as the calorie count will stay the same. And the grams of sugar will be the same.
  • I just say no thank you or take the food and don't eat it. Cookies are easy to wrap in a napkin. Toss later or give to someone else. I wouldn't like how I would white knuckle through it though. Buffets are tough for me. However I believe it's possible to eat and stay with your goal. I try to pick the tastiest option…
  • The Philosopher's Diet How to Lose Weight & Change the World by Richard Watson?
  • Goes both ways. "Well I can moderate any foods just fine. You just need willpower. Where is your self control? I know you are talking about your own experience but I take each post here personally and think you are saying all overweight people are addicts." Oh and of course the "oh you are offending drug addicts" always…
  • How does this relate to sugar conspiracy and addiction?
  • I would enjoy putting together people's orders. It would be satisfying finding the best tomatoes or whatever with someone else's money. I am going to look into this. Could be a fun part-time job. Our grocery store is finally getting ready to start delivering. When I worked full-time and didn't live in the middle of…
  • Ugh, the lack of I don't know what you would call it is disgusting. If an addict is insulted by food addiction, that's on them. This is a calorie counting site. Plenty of forums exist for drug and alcohol addiction. There are no rules on MFP that say food addiction can't be discussed.
  • @ladybear1970 Lots of people here have troubles with overeating sugary foods. Some say it is an addiction, some say it isn't. Both groups have lost or maintained weight. It doesn't matter what you call it. While I haven't conquered it, I have found strategies that help me. I have committed myself to accurately logging…

  • I think 100 calories of broccoli is the same amount of calories as 100 calories of sugar. My body will react differently to those 100 calories but still the same amount.
  • I don't think sugar should be banned. I think more education is needed so people understand exactly how many calories they are eating, the calorie breakdown of nutrients they are consuming and how many calories they are or are not burning.
  • As I have said before, it doesn't matter what you call your issues around food. You can lose weight and/or maintain whether you call it an addiction or not. There are many strategies to help. None of the strategies rely on what you call the problem. For the benefit of the lurkers... there are very few experts around food…
  • I don't lIke it either. I bought it to eat on graham crackers. I wanted to taste more chocolate. Disappointing! The description makes it seem like I would love it. Now the Hershey spread is a different story. Won't be reasonable so rarely have it but it's delicious on graham crackers. Especially if I make homemade…
  • There is something wrong with eating peanut butter out of the jar with a spoon if it causes me to go over my calorie goal.
  • Maybe they are doing the same thing. Hard to tell though because of the refusal to understand the problems around sugar.
  • I like buffets. My strategy now is to pick what appeals to me the most. I become very picky. Why waste calories on something that isn't fabulous? This strategy allows me to enjoy buffets without gaining. Have fun!
  • Thank you for saying what I have been thinking for months. Could not have said it better. Admitting the problem is taking responsibility.
  • You are having a rough week. I would find that situation challenging too. I don't understand why discussing having trouble with moderating sugary foods translates into "no one else has trouble moderating other foods". Why can't some people have trouble with sugary foods and others have troubles with other foods? You said…
  • I agree that the show exploits the people's emotions for amusement. It doesn't amuse me though.

  • Why I make bad decisions regarding food has to be solved or all of this is for nothing as I will go right back to where I started. Shouldn't be afraid of touchy feely. It can be helpful in many situations.

  • I rewarded myself with new dishes when I reached a mini goal. I wanted smaller plates for the visual game. I weigh everything anyway though. It was tough finding what I wanted. Ended up ordering from France. Not really helpful with weight loss but look gorgeous when I set the table. Sometimes I will break up a piece of…
  • This is why I watch. I am envious of how these out of shape people go from not exercising to 4-6 hours of hard exercise a day. I don't think I could do it, cash prize or not. I am surprised that no one has died. I am also envious that these people have the self esteem to appear on a TV show focused on their weight. I could…

  • Interesting! Thank you for sharing. While it's all about CICO, there's nothing wrong with using tools to help you keep your calories to a deficit.
  • Coffee up there? Why would you do that??? We talked about absorbing through the skin. Do you get caffeine that way? What is the optimal temperature for the coffee? Do keto people put a stick of butter in it? And why do I wonder these things? Thanks Obama.

  • I skeptical because of potency. There's a reason drugs are monitored by the FDA. The essential oils are only allowed or can only be so potent. Not nearly the potency of drugs. Am I thinking correctly about it?

  • I think the tree tea oil stuff can help a blemish from turning into a full blown name spelling zit if you catch it in time. I have sinus issues due to spring and fall allergies. I don't like how Sudafed or Clairiton type drugs make me feel. The side effects do not agree with me. I have tried a few essential oils without…

  • I think you are describing an addictive pattern. It is exhausting fighting it. I can be busy but my mind is doing double time because the food thoughts are always there. It is not fun having white knuckles all the time because you are trying not to eat. Feels even worse when you give in. You are right that many people do…
  • Look I agree to disagree with you about food addiction. There's nothing you are going to say to change my mind. There is nothing I am going to say to change your mind. Luckily it doesn't matter what either of us think about it. Either perspective can work when losing weight.
  • I save calories to eat at night. I skip breakfast and don't eat lunch until around 2 or 3pm. Even with doing that I have to just decide not to eat anything once I have eaten my calories for the day. White knuckle it. Don't always succeed. Some people have suggested changing macros around and eating more during the day so…
