The pics on here of walks in woods are making me pretty darn jealous! I just walk suburban streets.

PPS. While I have preselected my binge alternatives, I don't keep most of them in the house. The rule is I walk a mile to the grocery store to get them. Burns a few calories, and limits me to what I can carry.

Recovering Binge eater here. Once woke up and thought I was seriously ill, my lips were bluish grey. Apparently I ate cake with black frosting in the middle of the night, didn't even remember it (and no such cake had been present when I went to sleep). Dream of food. Obsess over food. Have eaten whole bags of things by…

I just wanted to second what others said here: no panic button needed over 4lb water weight gain. As a percentage of your total body weight that's a relatively normal fluctuation. I fluctuated the same amount frequently when I was at your same weight, the fluctuation has naturally gone down some as my total weight…

I'm in a completely different place but I've noticed two things that may help you. 1. Sometimes the scale alone isn't the best way to see changes. Pictures of your body and face to compare can be really helpful in noting changes that the scale would never pick up on, hydration/nutrition/vitality or glow as well as…

Here's what I think helps.... Go to the success stories here on mfp and look at all the before and after photos. Soooo many people not only lost a lot of weight, but look younger and or regained energy they thought was only possible in youth. You can too.

I always love more friends! Anyone can add me. Open food journal. I've lost nearly 60 pounds so far, and have 60 to go so mfp is certainly a part of my new normal. Ps if dessert is your weakness... Have you looked at chocolate covered Katie's blog of healthy desserts? Sometimes you just got to find a way to eat your…

Down about 50 with about 70 more to go myself. Feel free to add me, all new friends welcome and open diary! :) we are not in this alone.

You won't believe how many people got your back here! :) at one stage I lost a lot of weight and was having postural pain trying to adjust, hopped onto the forums here and folks gave me great tips for stretching to relieve the pain that worked. My point is, keep coming back as you get to new challenges and successes, and…

1. Truly decide you want to change and you have the power to do so, no excuses. 2. Let MFP determine calorie deficit goal based on age, weight, planned loss. For me that is about 1400 currently 3. Log everything, try to meet or be under goal 9 times out of 10, without eating back exercise calories. Splurge days or special…

Bump your calories to maintenance for the week. Look up any farmer markets, or health food restaurants to add to your experience in advance, you may start to find you like them. Make a concerted effort to find active pursuits and activities to spend your free time. Consider strategically planning for some meals and snacks…

Instead of explaining why your well meaning intentions have frequently backfired, I'll simply model an alternative conversation that is more likely to leave those that want to help themselves feeling supported and enabled: Sister2: expresses desire to lose weight You: affirm you love her and she has great qualities…

I was a bmi of 40, morbidly obese, when starting. I couldn't tell a difference after my first 35 lbs. lost by just looking in mirror and there was no change in clothing size. However, I had been logging the scale weight, taking key tape measurements, and taking progress reference photos. There absolutely WAS a difference…

Thank you for sharing your story. I'm in the middle of my journey (about 50lbs down with 70 or so to go). LOVE trolling the success stories for extra motivation and reminding myself it CAN be done, with hard work and patience.

Feel free to add me! I have an open diary. I'm almost 50 pounds down of what needs to be a 100 to 120 pound total loss. I'm in this too for the long haul, it's got to be a life style change. I know it feels overwhelming at first but we can do this together!

it's ok at first to concentrate on portion control mostly. Burnout comes from trying to be perfect from the start or making too many changes at once. It's a marathon for most of us, not a sprint. Once you get within desired calorie range using either mostly portion control or common sense about junk food reductions, work…

Ok, some great ideas and encouragement here. I had thought all the low back pain was potentially from the new increase in walking or weak core generally, but it was a very interesting and valid point as well that I possibly lost enough to shift my posture. I'm encouraged by this that it is temporary and my body will adapt…

I'm a newbie with 100 pounds to lose as well. Love to have friends and support, regardless of where you are on your journey, that know how it feels to be overwhelmed with the task at hand. 100 pounds to lose, infinite confidence and pride to gain by doing something hard.

I too am new and looking for friends that have lost over a hundred pounds, are in the middle of their journey to lose over a hundred or just starting out with a lot to lose and trying not to feel overwhelmed. I have two children, one with special needs, and am in the middle of a transition of responsabilIties at work.…

I won't give any advice for your daughter, but I will for you and how to best support and understand her. She needs competent medical care. She very likely can't tell the difference between when her blood sugar is high or low, so extreme exercise, weight loss, and calorie restricted diets can all be dangerous (and…
