I attempted to add dressing by weight and found that I was adding a lot more than the 1 tablespoon measured, thought it would be safer to go by volume. I do not weigh my clementines, would I do this with skin peeled or not peeled. Even though egg is not weighed, and I see no nutritional facts that mention weight of…

Math is king, totally agree. I just averaged last 10 days (did not do full 21 days because there are some inaccuracies on some of those days prior), the average is 1301 kcal/day.

Please see prior posts where I state that I weigh everything with my food scale except for 1 tablespoon of dressing on chicken, and 1 tablespoon of coffee creamer in my morning coffee

Oh no I don't mind the lecturing at all. I'm trying to figure out how to tackle this from any possible angle. I invested in a heart rate monitor that I wear around my chest. Even if I walk about at only a 3.5 mph (this is a fast walk for me) at a 1.0 to 2.0 incline on treadmill for 2 miles I burn 400-425 calories because…

For clarification of what my weekend actually looked like, and not the "wiping out of deficit" that everyone is claiming. This would be a weekend I consider that I excessively over ate.

I will try the thing with the rice, but just from the # of times i meal prep. About 2.5 cups of uncooked rice can fill 10 meal prep boxes with 125 grams by weight cooked rice. If 1 cup of uncooked rice is 700 calories, than each box would have 175 calories of rice, and I would be off by 40 calories a day (or…

Oh sorry I didn't complete my thought in the last post, I meant to say even with the margin of error I am at a 3500+ deficit over the entire week, so why am i not seeing any changes. When I stray over the weekend I mean that I am eating more than 1200 calories. When I estimate ( and I try to be on conservative by…

I'm no longer shooting for a 2lb week loss goal (that would be ideal, but has never happened for me). I just want to be loosing 1 lb consistently. I agree on the consistency part, although this makes living a normal enjoyable life super difficult as I dread having to be out of the house during a time when I know I have to…

I don't have strict numbers, but I can tell you nothing fits differently or looser

As I stated before, no oil, sauces or dressings are used to cook the food. Only the light dressing added to chicken which I measure before adding. Some of the prepackaged food is more convenience, but none that I would not consider "real" food. Yogurt? Cheese? What's wrong with that? I agree the weekends are the trouble…

I'm pretty sure medical school taught me very well how insulin works. Insulin is a necessary and vital part of how we digest food and take up glucose that is necessary for the function of all our organ systems but most importantly the brain which can only run on glucose. Given that I am young and do not suffer from…

I wish I could believe this.... I really do. But I have tried so hard to be regimented with my food that things just don't add up and I don't know why. I've read the articles about why I could not be losing weight. I don't wake up at night to eat, never have, and never will. Everything is pre-measured and boxed up so I…

I don't weigh my rice dry, because how am I supposed to cook one serving of rice at a time? And I assumed that if the rice is wet it will weigh more and thus I will add less of it to my plate. All my food is weighed out on a scale during meal prep (the protein in ounces, and the rice and vegetables in grams). The dressing…

Also I do not expect a 2 lb/week. In my original post, I said I was never able to hit that. But my expectation is 1lb/week, which even that doesn't happen.

Let me clarify, I don't binge. Nor do I "crave" these foods, and go out of my way to eat too much of these. If I could eat a prepared meal instead of the food offered me I would. So I went back to my diary for last Sunday (Super Bowel) where I had went out with my family and had a 6 oz steak with asparagus, and 1/4 portion…

I love this advice, this is very helpful thank you. And just so everyone knows, I've already gone out and purchased a scale from Walmart. The general consensus says log everything, measure accurately, estimate restaurant food to your best ability (but keep these to a minimum). The whole don't worry about exercise thing for…

1) Yes I do go to restaurants 1-2 times per week. And this is SO FREAKIN' TRUE! It's like you screw up a little once, and your paying for it the rest of the week. 2) Macros averaged over the last week are: Carbs 39%, Fat 38%, Protein 22%

I think I being a little misinterpreted about the whole weekend thing. I never have consciously told myself " I can cheat on the weekend" or for any meal for that mater. Anytime I ever eat out at a restaurant with nutritional information available I always look up before choosing my meal. Example: I frequent Panera Bread…

So I do log the rest of the food for a day when I eat at a party. But i have no way of determining if I've gone over 500-1000 calories from just one meal.

That's what I thought. I might be one of those people that don't see a change and then "boom" lose a bunch. That's what I was told before... be patient. It may take a couple weeks. I stuck it out, week after week after week.... I do not drink any of my calories. Only diet cokes, nothing with actual sugar, no juices, no…

I have actually been underestimating my calorie burn for most of my workouts up until the last week because the gym machines didn't base it off my heart rate. I know all forms of measuring calorie expenditure except through direct measurement of oxygen consumption will be a bit off, but with my heart rate monitor i lose…

If only I had the luxury of time. In about 9 months from now I'll become a resident with a 80+ hour work week. Attempting to find time to meal prep and work out will be extremely difficult. Hence my want to whip up into shape before that.

Yeah I completely agree. And if I'm tired of water, I'll have zero cal iced tea, or hot tea, etc...

No I do not own a food scale but most of what I eat is prepackaged. The only thing that would probably do some good weighing is the chicken or shrimp. The way I have gotten around this is when I purchase the frozen pre-cooked chicken I utilize the weight of the entire bag, count the number of pieces of chicken inside and…
