It sounds like everyone is crazy busy and we're all in the same boat. I've been here lurking for the past week because I've been super busy also. I had to perform a Christmas concert last weekend. My Little went home during intermission because she became sick and then she was off school for two days. Then my Hubby and I…

I make my own Kefir at home and use that with my protein powder to make a smoothie in the blender.

Here's what I did so as not to be too overwhelmed. Start by logging everything you eat or drink and be honest. Measure what you can. Get into this habit and after a week or two buy a scale and start measuring your food by the gram. This is the only accurate way to know how many calories you are eating. Learn to use the…

Yep, this! ^^^ Since I started weighing my food I have been losing my target weight per week. It's maybe not as crucial for an orange but when you're adding rice or cheese to your plate you would be shocked at how quickly it adds up in grams. I got myself a $10 scale and I keep a notebook and pen with it. I weigh and tare…

Same. Got one today.

I second (third and fourth) a good quality dark chocolate. Depending on the bar I buy it's 50 cals a square - I usually eat two and my sweet tooth is satisfied. For those salty chip cravings I like to make popcorn with a teeny bit of coconut oil and some salt and nutritional yeast on top after it's popped. I also recently…

My fave was P90X and it was the one that I stuck to the longest. I liked the instructor and the exercises. It's something I would do again now that I'm trying to get fit again but the videos are really long so you need to commit a big chunk of time to them. I didn't like Insanity at all. I just didn't like the instructor…

I love my coffee but one is enough for me. So, I just have it the way I like it. I compared switching to Coffee Mate or International Delight for creamer but there's actually MORE calories in that than in my half and half! The only thing I may change is stevia for a sweetener but really, I just log the cals and enjoy this…

I'm a musician (I play the trumpet) and the only time I log my playing is if I had a very long and intense rehearsal or gig. I logged the other night because I played for a solid hour and a half without a break (no bars of rest). But, I log this rarely, I don't trust the calorie count, and I don't eat back all of the…

I'm new to this too and just bought my scale yesterday. I can tell you that I certainly cannot portion properly with my eyes. I had some bread tonight and the portion according to the pkg is 50g. I sliced some and my piece was 45g. In the past I would've eaten three of these pieces thinking I was ok - not tonight!

Thanks Rabbitjb - that was what worked for me. :D I didn't make the stew so I had to create the recipe with the ingredients I knew my husband put in which wasn't 100% accurate since he had already added the carrots and onion (but I knew the rest). So, I needed to weigh it after it cooked anyway. I had to change the recipe…

Ahhhh, ok, I think I get it now. (and am particularly dense today) I measure the finished soup, take the weight in grams and edit the recipe with that as my number of portions. The recipe builder will then calculate what I am eating based on how many grams I weigh out for my dinner. That's great! Thank-you, I will try that…

You ladies are so positive and motivating, I love it! I haven't been feeling great so I didn't do a workout yesterday but I'm going to do one today even if it's just a shorter less intense one. Something is better than nothing, right? Keep up the great work everyone!

Yep, I'm 1200 cals a day too. Almost everything we eat is homemade so feel free to add me, maybe there will be some inspiration in my diary (open to friends). I just discovered the recipe builder and it makes my dinner entries soooo much easier!! :) Looking forward to seeing what everyone else enjoys to eat too.

Hi I'm Jen and need some more positive friends too. I'm 40 and am trying to get fit and healthy also, feel free to add me.

I'm thankful Canadian Thanksgiving is sooner than yours, gives us Canucks a bit of a buffer before the holiday season!

I love the idea of this group! My name is Jen, I'm 40 and want to look and feel like myself again! The weight crept on slowly over the last 8 years and I want it gone!

When I saw my last vacation pics of myself in a bikini and I was too embarrassed to add them to my slideshow to show my friends. I've always been thin until fairly recently so it was a big wake up call. Plus, 40,'nuff said.
