Yep. I cant eat raw nuts on their own as a snack, I feel sick if I eat more than 3 or 4. Unless they are salted pistachios. I will eat all the pistachios!! I usually eat nuts sprinkled on salad or I will eat them with fruit as a snack.

I think it's about the same or a bit cheaper cooking from scratch, but it does depends on the protein source of the meal. The cost of meat can rack up if you aren't organised or don't have the space to buy and freeze in bulk. There is also a significant time cost to cooking from scratch, including all the prep and cleanup.…

I'm not really eating at normal keto levels, but am eating low enough carbs to be in ketosis often. I know this feeling, and really, I think it's some days you are just tired. Sometimes I have energy to do really intense workouts and sometimes just walking feels like a slog. I just take recovery when I need it and do my…

It's also important because for the people that do choose to low carb, it is frustrating when people come in and tell them it's dangerous and they are killing themselves because carbs are a required nutrient. It's a perfectly safe personal dietary choice and I don't know why some people get so nuts about it.

This should be a sticky topic. The amount of threads about sugar right now is ridiculous

You shouldn't let the small details stop you from creating the bigger picture. If you've just started, don't sweat the small stuff like the macros. Your main priority is to log your food intake and eat at a reasonable calorie deficit. You have a lot of gaps in your diary - focus on doing this first. Once you've got a hold…

I use fage. If you are getting proper plain greek yoghurt you're probably going to have to sweeten with something because it's no fun to eat it on it's own. I add dark chocolate and almond butter.

Greek yoghurt. My fridge is full of the stuff and it feels like I'm buying it ALL the time.

I was going to reply to this about how context is important and how he obviously knew what he was saying when he said it. then I thought to myself: 'Pluckabee... you are about to engage in an argument with a person who calls himself 'Sir Boner Fart'. Look at your life and your choices' Then I did, and no more foruming was…

It wasn't really difficult but it had quite a lot of steps to it so it felt like a bit of a faff. I give an 7 for difficulty but a 3 for efforts.

Cant you just give him a bigger portion?

In my opinion, the mfp method is flawed. Net calories is an absolutely meaningless concept and obsessing about it is going to do you no good, and isn't going to help you maintain weight loss OP, I suggest that you stop logging your exercise calories entirely. Split apart diet and exercise, they are separate things that…

Poor lamb has never had real gravy before. Pity.

Are you eating a particularly low fat diet? It could be that your body needs fats which is where the cravings are coming from. Adding a bit more fat into your daily diet might help

My SO is a picky eater so it can be a little difficult. The only meat he really likes is chicken or ground beef and I like a lot of variety. So If I'm making a chicken or ground beef dish, we'll have the same thing. If not I'll either make him something else or if I'm too tired will ask if he minds cooking for himself. The…

Really? Really dude? Follow a regimen forever? How is that good advice? People that hear this and think this is true are going to not bother and just stay fat.
-
I was implying that it was an extra expense to consider, not a waste. Like money, time is a limited resource. Sorry if you didn't understand that.
-
At my highest weight I was prediabetic and even I ignore mfp's meagre sugar allowance on days that I have fruit. To be fair though, I ignore every macro set for me by mfp.

Both the food snobs and the people that tell others they are stupid for cutting out certain foods drive me mad. People find results on every part of the spectrum. Don't just strut into a thread and tell someone to do what you do (or to not do what you don't do) just because it works for you so it must work for everyone…

When did I say anything about a farmers market? Certainly you can eat cheap meals that are healthy. My point is is that it takes much more organisation and time to do so than getting fast food. Time that some people don't realistically have. There are people in here that have made some very good points and given some very…

Living in Norway you probably experience a very different life compared to poor people in america. You cant just extrapolate your own experiences and apply them to everyone in the world, this is really short sighted. It is a life skill, but like all life skills they take learning and cultivating, something that requires…

Started on a schedule, fixed hunger patterns, now eat when I'm hungry.
-
I don't log my activity because net calories is completely meaningless, so I would be eating around 1800 gross.
-
Prep time? Grocery shopping time? Washing up time? Standing around and waiting for it to cook time? Plus the fact you have to be much more organised to make sure you are using up food before it goes bad which also takes time and effort if you aren't a naturally organised person. Just saying, if you are working long hours,…

You have to remember that when considering cost, time cost is also a thing.

Like a previous poster said, you need more satiating meals. Try having a high protein breakfast to get you through until lunch so you don't have to pick at it before noon, and add some protein to your lunches too. For me, greek yoghurt (with no added sugar, you have to check the labels that it is actually high protein…

It depends on you really. When I first started I logged absolutely everything and it was a really helpful tool for me to realise how many extra calories I was eating without even knowing it. They can really add up and I think if you have recently started its worth logging just for the knowledge. I know it's helped me…

I think what I'm trying to do is cultivate a new normal for me so that I can maintain a healthy weight by eating normally and doing normal activity, and I want to be able to do this without actively keeping a log of everything I eat or do. That said, if I had to I think I could log my intake indefinitely. It hasn't been…

This is a really encouraging thread! I've been eating between 1600 and 2000 calories And losing on average 2lbs a week. All the people eating around 1200 (there are so many!!) make me feel like maybe I'm eating too much when I end up at around 1800 calories for the day so it's good to know I'm not the only freak of nature…
