I knew it! That's what you don't tell us newbies when we join - there's gonna be a quiz!

@lps1dragonfly Yay - another newbie! Welcome! I joined this group at the beginning of June and have found it to be hugely motivating & lots of fun. And I'm learning so much. Thanks for sharing the video @stoshew71. @ceciliaslater welcome back! Hope you had a good workout.

I take it this is a thing with him? Dropping out & coming back?

I was wondering where he went! :(

@ROBOTFOOD Oh man! I'm so glad you went to the hospital & survived that scariness! I also had to google rhabdomyolysis as I've never heard of it. Please rest & take care of yourself so you can recover without any lasting damage. @Elise4270 Thanks for your suggestions re: the knee pain. I think I will go back to PT if it…

@louubelle16 & @Orphia thanks so much for you thoughts! I am a newbie runner since I was off running completely for several years & just started up again. Prior to that I had only run a few years, and then way back in high school I did sprints in track rather than longer distances. So I am definitely new to distance…

@greenolivetree & @WhatMeRunning thanks for your thoughts & suggestions. I think I probably just have to be more patient with the sloooow progress my body requires now. I have all the muscle memory of running high school track & maybe subconsciously I think I should be able to run like I'm 16. Yeah. I am so not 16 anymore…
-
@RespectTheKitty Yay for you! You definitely deserve some good feelings  Yay for all the newbies! And thanks to all the seasoned runners for all your good advice. @Stoshew71 & @Elise4270 thanks for sharing about your running beginnings. It helps to know that even the really good endurance runners struggled at the…

Well, you could try telling your husband that you will need new shoes at some point as you get your miles in & wear out the current ones...and since shoes are on sale now, and they don't expire or anything like fresh food would, if you do purchase them now and save them for later you're really saving money by not having to…

@zoe2434 & @instantmartian So sorry to hear about your losses.
-
Deal! Revised goal: 37 miles (35 + 2 donation miles  )
-
Got past my very conservative goal for June, even with iffy knees & joining in a few days late. Gonna challenge myself this month with 35 miles.

Sorry to hear you are struggling so much with depression right now. I've also struggled with it off and on throughout life - - and yes, it really sucks. So from one fellow depression sufferer to another: here are virtual *hugs.* Hang in there. So glad you're sticking with your walk/ runs despite the depression & despite…

@ceciliaslater Yay for you to get back to a fitness class! Modified or not, that's excellent progress! @juliet3455 Yes, if I ever try a triathlon I will DEFINITELY start with the sprint distance! Every time I watch my bf in action I think maybe I should give it a try...but that's as far as I get LOL
-
@greenolivetree ugh! sorry about the awful car repair day @skippygirlsmom Yay! Congrats on making your goal! @louubelle16 I'm glad you had a better run (still glad you're getting those blood tests though  ) @MNLittleFinn I'm with the consensus here: "Ohhhhhhhhmmmmm" @Elise4270 You'll get there...you're going…

@Elise4270 fun idea: largest & smallest races. I've only run a handful of 5ks & they were all one hundred to several hundred participants. A couple were maybe under 100? I've cheered on my BF at the Chicago triathlon, however, which is huge & a complete zoo. I don't know if I'd ever want to participate in an event that…

So many posts to catch up on! I'd like to say Yay! and Congratulations! individually to everyone who has accomplished goals, done well, recovering well, etc but I think that might be impossible - so, YAY to everyone! You're all awesome! So glad I joined this group -- it's so inspiring. @ereck44 I started MFP in January…

Excellent advice...@louubelle16 I hope you do go for blood tests right away...

I also had a lot of pain in my knees & lots of popping/ cracking when straightening them. My doctor diagnosed me with patellar (sp?) instability - something women are particularly prone to, apparently. He sent me to a physical therapist which helped a lot. They had me do a lot of very specific exercises to strengthen the…

@RespectTheKitty Yay for knees feeling better! And yay for getting out there & getting your miles in  @greenolivetree I hope your dad recovers well from his surgery. And re: the dog - - it probably was friendly if it didn't exhibit threatening body language. Are you afraid of/ unfamiliar with dogs? If you stop…

I agree! Great idea! I think it's important to allow yourself a break now & then from strict counting & logging so you can enjoy special events & tasty food. It's an important & enjoyable part of life and if you don't indulge sometimes you just feel deprived. I really like your strategy for accounting for those indulgences…

I have heard both "long johns" and "eclairs." But you know, "a rose by any other name...": no matter what they're called they are delicious. And I have to stop thinking about them or I'll have to go get one, and I don't have calories allotted for one today! @Elise4270 Thanks for the encouragement! I think I'm gonna do it.…
