Absolutely, especially if it comes from a place of concern. Not all comments or opinions on weight are superficial and shallow. Of course it should ideally be voiced with respect.

Update: I kept trying to disconnect fitbit and MFP and reconnect but that wasn't working. Eventually I went to fitbit and disconnected everything. I then had to reconnect MFP and a couple other connections I wanted (I had others for a work program that I haven't bothered with) and it immediately started working again.

There's nothing on that page that suggests you can lose weight without a deficit. You seem to be confusing burning fat with losing weight. Of course if all you do is eat fat, your body will be burning fat you eat for energy. Your body has two sources of energy 1. calories you eat 2. calories you have stored as glycogen and…

It's one of those things where the function of BCAAs is confused with the need to supplement. Branch chains are essential building blocks to convert protein into muscle. Your body can make most of them but there's a couple that you must get from diet. So they're not only effective, they're essential to building and…

I've experimented with pre-workouts, but am passionately against them now. They can mess up your liver function and I've had a couple tests come back with elevated enzymes. I've never been too big into those but now have to completely stay away. Not to mention, I have to watch alcohol and Tylenol as I'm working with the…

People run into D deficiencies when the live too far north (or south if you live upside down). It can lead to depression and can be diagnosed in a blood test. Most people aren't deficient and you can make your own from the sun. Plus multi's usually have that more than covered.

I have whey too and I take BCAAs, but you asked what I consider most beneficial for health. And isn't weight loss the biggest 'health' topic on this site? I like that casein stick with me more and has more volume/flavor, whey is really thin. I understand they each have a place though and had whey immediately following my…

I'm on my 3rd Garmin in over 10 years, currently using the 610. I use it with an HRM to track everything, running, biking, and lifting. Recently, I've been comparing the HRM reading to the metal handles on the treadmills and bikes at the gym. I've been amazed to find them only 1-2 BPM off. It seems the Garmin HRM will…

Just eat whatever you like but weigh and track the calories. Don't think of it as depriving yourself. If you decide you have room for 150 calories, weight out different things. Maybe 6 almonds is less appealing than a bag of chips, then eat the chips. Maybe your prefer a few M&Ms over the carrots. OR maybe you try the M&Ms…

I love running in the rain! It can be tough if it's cold out but the actual running part is fun. You want to keep your core temp up without taking too many clothes with you in the race. The walk and standing around before the start probably won't be fun but maybe there'll be less people. I sweat a lot so my clothes don't…

Guys have types, that's what makes the world go round. There's someone for everyone. you can take some of the most beautiful women in the world and guys will debate it. Want proof? Ask the guys who's the hottest celebrity. If you get one name then style doesn't matter.
-
Of course, it factors into attraction, right? What's the disagreement?

That's my point, it's about what happens when (if) it escalates. Don't panic but don't dismiss it either, these things become serious sometimes. It's not a big deal to go to a police station and explain the situation. They'll tell you what options you have, what to look for and maybe give you some suggestions on how to…
-
It may come to a restraining order to feel safe, maybe go down to your local police station just to discuss options and get their opinion. Every experience in life is an opportunity to learn for the future. I'm sure you'll be fine, but you do want to take steps to know your options and get some record of what's going on.…

Not catching up on the whole conversation here, just offering my $.02. First off, if the police use improper technique to collect evidence, the evidence is not admissible in court. Even if you 'cheated' his snooping almost becomes a bigger offence. That said, you both broke the trust too and it sounds like you're not…

It's pretty simple... If you have a goal of gaining, losing or maintaining weight, you need to eat more, less, or the same as you burn. That's how it works, but you can achieve the goal however you want. People have varying skill levels when it comes to estimating calories, but at the end of the day your success is…

I would imagine it would be difficult to get a very accurate picture of which is more 'risky.' Not all smokers smoke the same amount, inhale, etc., the same way. Similarly, there's a bunch of ways to become overweight too much fried food, cake, lack of exercise, etc. At best you could compare death rates to prevalence…
-
Got it. First, I'd say it's the same as any other health issue that requires some change from the patient. Quitting smoking, overweight, alcohol abuse, high BP, cholesterol, etc. You should bring it up, even if you do every time and nothing changes. Tell them the condition and the implications and be prepared to offer…

What does "in the medical field mean"? Are you a doctor? I don't understand why a doctor would need to ask people on a forum how to tell people to lose weight, that's your job.

It just corrected itself. Fitbit is now +4 and I'm getting the run calories. Must have been a delay.

My activity level is set to sedintary so I get 1500 cal before any activity. It did track my steps, over 10,000. I was wearing Fitbit one and garmin at the same time. I sync Fitbit throughout the day, I never check the Fitbit, always see where I'm at by opening and syncing the app. I got back from the run and immediately…

They're own product claims should be enough to turn you off. They attribute increased energy and metabolism to caffeine and green tea... "Green Tea, one of the favourite fat burners on the market, has been shown to increase overall calorie burn by up to 8% per day." They claim this will give you an 8% increase in calorie…

If it's a vacation, enjoy yourself. Look at it as a challenge to maintain your weight under difficult circumstances. Eat reasonably, don't give in to every treat and greasy meal. But it is vacation, live a little. It's a good opportunity to try to make reasonable choices without tracking. So what if you have a gap week,…
