THIS! ^^^^^ I had this exact same thought! I would love to know what she would say if you sent one of these: http://shop.naturespath.com/Cherry-Pomegran-Frosted-Toaster-Pastry/p/NPA-410157&c=NaturesPath@ToasterPastries with a copy of the nutrition label from it and whatever brand you sent that she said was unhealthy. I…

I completely agree on pop tarts being junk food but I get sick and tired of people feeling like they have to step in and teach someone's kids "because their parents aren't." It's not their kid! I get that not everyone has great parents, but the bottom line is those parents are responsible for those kids and no one else. If…

Fat doesn't "turn into muscle." They are composed of entirely different things. You definitely want to lift! I look like I've lost a lot more then I have because I'm losing fat with lifting weights. Muscle takes up less space then fat does so one looks leaner. I have quite a bit to lose still but I wouldn't want to do it…

Technically, dandelion tea is safe during pregnancy. My doctor had no issues with me using it (especially because I get so water logged when preggo). Your doctor may not approve of it, or want you to use it, but those are separate from "not safe during pregnancy." It is commonly recommend by midwives.

My daughter takes B12 in liquid form. It doesn't taste great, but it's not so horrible she can't take it either.

I'll be the odd woman out here. ;-) It does always depend on what your doctor says they want you to do - that is definitely not in dispute. That said, doctors don't tell me what to do, I tell them what to do. That's why I pay them. When they start paying me, then they get to tell me what to do. ;) :D I haven't been brave…

When you have excess fluid in your lower legs one of the best thing you can do is to get the lymph system moving. Walking (even slowly) for short periods of time to try and get things pumping can help some. Drink. Drink. Drink. Caffeine is a mild diuretic. If you can handle a bit of that, it might help some. You can ask…

Thank you for a voice of reason. I've given up on MFP, for the most part, when it comes to any dietary sanity. It's just not even worth the time anymore. I feel for people that post for the first time and don't realize they are about to be hit with a grenade. Instead of it being that both sides could have valid points, and…

Good info! <adding to my reading list>

Yeah. I wouldn't expect weight loss from it. I've only ever seen it used for fibroids and cysts. It definitely takes several months to work. Have you had an US to measure the size of your fibroids? Or are they located in such a place where an US would work for that? It was kind of cool that one of my best friends had hers…

Can you post the link where the group is?

Thank you! I thought I was going a bit nutty. I wouldn't mind being pregnant but at my age this was all weird stuff for me. I will patiently wait (well, maybe not so patiently given the PMSy symptoms). :s

Goals for 2017: Lose another 40#'s Keep up my current lifting/exercise routine (it's reaping good benefits) Continue working towards lower carb (per my practitioner's request and my need) Work through Cognitive Behavioral Therapy book again Successes/Failures of 2016: Managed to get 20#'s lost even facing some major…

@JessicaMcB you look amazing! One year?! Really, so impressed with everyone here.

I have many years experience dealing with severe food allergies. One of the things we learned over those years is that when a person absolutely loves a food (or craves it), *or* hates a food so much that they won't touch it, it makes them gag, etc., it very often means they have an allergy to it. The body is innately wise.…

The gym I go to offers 1hr free PT when you join. You might check to see if yours does.

This. ^^^^ I love shirataki noodles because I like pasta. They allow me to basically eat what my family is eating pasta wise but without the extra calories and carbs (which I have to really watch). They have them now as "spaghetti," rice, elbow noodles, etc. so I can make them work with whatever meal I'm having. Definitely…

Lots of people on MFP have specific lifting programs they like. Strong lifts, 5x5, etc. Personally, I've always used Bill Phillips Body for Life lifting method. It has worked well for me in the past and I'm doing it again at 46. I don't do his eating program (I can't stand it), but the lifting is easy to remember (for me),…

I love bread. I particularly love daves killer bread (might be a nw novelty). Unfortunately, with a number of health things in my way, carbs do not let me lose weight well. So I minimize my carbs by eliminating bread. If I'm going to splurge it will be at a restaurant that serves a good sourdough with butter. And if I'm at…

I have an elliptical. I got it when my treadmill died about a year ago. I honestly don't like it. But I've always been a treadmill person and ended up going to the gym to lift weights and use their treadmills. My two teenagers LOVE the elliptical. I'm not allowed to get rid of it and put a new treadmill in its place…

I will be 47 next month. It took me all of 2016 to lose almost 20#'s. I'm finding myself in an emotional place right now and where I was doing well with not eating emotionally, I am struggling again. I'm going to pick Beck's book back up (The Beck Diet Solution) and go through it again, but it's frustrating to find myself…

Sure. I'll keep you posted. If it gets to march and if I forget, remind me.

I just had to move my carbs from 50% down to 35% for this very reason. Even with losing 20#'s my A1c continued to rise. So we cut my carbs back to see if that would help. I've only been at it a short time but my weight is dropping fairly rapidly. My practitioner asked me to do non-starchy veggies with every meal and no…

I love my Misfit Shine. It's perfect for my needs. But you do have to wear it all day if you want it to track your steps. It will track for just one activity but I think it would be a bit more of pain doing that b/c you have to set it each time and stop and start it. When I wear it all day it just automatically kicks into…

Oh my gosh. This makes me want to scream. Acute pancreatitis is often caused by a gallstone that blocks the common bile duct but that doesn't mean it will happen again. If you did not sign a consent for this I would be all over that idiot. I have rarely heard of them taking a gallbladder "just in case." Grrrrr.…

So much this. Communicate. Communicate. Communicate. When you're calm, go to him and tell him you're working very hard to improve your health and to ultimately look good for him and that was really hurtful to you. Tell him he doesn't have to encourage you but it's hurtful and difficult when he says discouraging things. You…

I started weaning from the phen yesterday. I'm on a 3 week wean down process. Supposedly, in going off of it that way, the raging appetite issues that some people experience is not suppose to happen. I guess time will tell. The one thing we are watching is my appetite since actual weight loss does not appear to have been…

This sounds funny, but where you are wearing the device matters. If you have it on your wrist for a spin class and then you're holding the handles, it won't register hardly at all. I discovered this the hard way. On my grocery shopping days I walk about 4 miles but I wasn't registering hardly anything. I move my tracker to…

I choose not to use AS for health reasons. I can do stevia and xylitol. I far prefer xylitol. I like oocdc2's suggestion though for testing out which ones you have a problem with physically. You might find yourself okay with things like stevia and/or xylitol.
