I had a reduction when I was 22 (I'm 46 now). I was told if a person is overweight (I wasn't) they would be required to lose a certain amount to see if they got smaller chest wise before surgery. Otherwise, there were no restrictions with losing weight if a person needed to. I was like mom22dogs. Had the consult, surgery a…

Well, inspite of the naysayers, I actually do find that ACV helps me. However, I do not drink it raw (can't stand it!). I take ACV capsules (3 in the AM and 3 in the PM). What I notice the most is it does seem to help with cravings and it does help with digestion. Whether it's the better digestion that allows the body to…

When someone gets exhausted like this does taking the phen at night make a difference? I won't be starting until around 6/23 but wondering about it.

I am both starving the week of my cycle and exhausted. I require way more sleep then normal and I get sooooo hungry. At least I'm burning something extra.

Psyllium will likely bind you more. Milk of mag is still magnesium but I'm not familiar with how many mgs of mag are actually in it. If you're still only going that infrequently I would look at adding at least 500mg of mag oxide twice a day. AM/PM. From there you can adjust up or done until you're going at least once a…

Fiber can actually be very binding when you're backed up. And miralax is dangerous - it's plastic (look up the ingredients). I highly recommend using magnesium oxide as you can control how many mgs you take and it works great! And mag is something most people are sorely low in.

My DD had lyme and I have a number of friends that have chronic lyme. Thus far, we've all had good success with using lyme stop treatment from www.lymestop.com. This guy is amazing and is booked 6 months out because he treats so many people with lyme. My DD responded fairly quickly and my friends that have chronic lyme all…

Remember that you need to eliminate a food for a minimum of 3 days (and really 7). It takes 72hrs for a food protein to leave the body cells completely. So eliminating it for one day and doing something different the next day you may not notice a difference or you might confuse which foods are doing what. Grains that…

Yep! No kidding! I was never so happy as when my oldest started driving, bought a car, and now taxi's herself around (and sometimes the other two!). LOL

THIS ^^^^^^ 1000 times over. Your symptoms scream either food allergy (dairy, gluten and nightshades are big common ones) or IBS/Crohns type of situation. But trying these suggestions one at a time (especially the logging and comparing symptoms in a notebook) can be exceedingly helpful while you wait on the doctor. If you…

I would do your research before following this advice. Miralax is essentially plastic. It has some dangerous side effects to it. Magnesium is a way better approach to this issue. In particular mag oxide is what will help with regularity. Other forms of magnesium are used when you want to avoid bowel disturbance. In this…

Oh my goodness! CurlyCockney, that dog in your profile pic is the cutest!!

I can appreciate that allergies are serious. I have been there, done that, lived the epi pens. But let's not be rude. People who have not dealt with life threatening allergies honestly don't understand them and this person gave what she *thought* was a possible option. It was kind of her to share it. She wasn't being rude…

I think for me, maintaining nutrition is harder. I have a friend I walk with 4 days a week so I'm getting 12 miles a week in walking wise (at a pretty good pace). Nutrition wise, I'm fine most of the time, but there are some days where all heck breaks loose. I try to keep those to a minimum but for sure hormones reign at…

You've had some great advice here. I would absolutely echo the modeling idea. Our children eat healthy now because a health crisis forced us into a lifestyle change when they were tiny. Almost done raising 3 now and as I look back the one thing I would change - do not use baby food. I found that with the kids I gave real…

Yes. Bison is very lean. When you cook it, it takes less time and will dry out faster so cooking with liquid is a help. We LOVED bison. And it was a huge help with the allergies. Expensive, but we were thankful for the alternative. If you're willing to try lamb, cooking it with marinades works well. We used maple syrup and…

[quote Please don't suggest that allergies can be healed. For those who suffer anaphylaxis (like the OPs child) even attempting to try the things they are allergic to can KILL them. I constantly have to tell well meaning relatives that while allergy shots may have worked for them, they can KILL (allergy shots work by…

If a person can't respect your feelings/needs around this issue, you may want to seriously consider if this person will respect other important areas of your life. Something to think about long term.....especially if marriage is being considered.

I hear you on the beef/pork vs. chicken thing. I am a total beef person (and I don't really care for chicken) but I do find myself choosing chicken over beef b/c of the calories. You'll just have to make adjustments for that. And I LOVE steak. I just can't eat as much as I'd like to. ;-) If you're interested in ways of…

We have dealt with severe food allergies here so I totally get you on the cooking thing. You can use egg replacers in terms of baking things so look at things like bran muffins, pancakes, and bacon or sausage for breakfasts. If you make the muffins and pancakes homemade you can control the calorie content and use egg…

Well, not everyone. When I lose, I do not lose hardly anything in my chest. I did have a breast reduction at age 22 and do not regret it. I was thin when I had it done. I lost ten pounds coming off of the surgeons table and that left me still decent sized. Even gaining weight as I got older and had kids did not make me…

I wasn't saying the effexor doesn't work. I was saying that the "only way to balance hormones is the synthetic crap" is untrue. There are a lot of other, healthier ways to go about it. If someone wants to use drugs, fine. But it's not the only way.
-
Please, this is completely untrue. Good grief. OP, you can *try* EPO (evening primrose oil) taken several times a day. Depending on how strong the menopause symptoms are, it can help. I have found it takes about 30 days for most supplements to kick in enough to actually effect my menopause symptoms. Omega 3's are good for…

I have a shine and I love it but I never put it in water. I read too many cases (with all brands of trackers) of "waterproof" trackers not being so waterproof and getting ruined. I don't care enough when I'm in the shower to track that movement. So personally, I wouldn't wear it swimming. @pebble4321, the newer Shine has a…

Still dealing with this issue on a smaller scale then I use to. I struggle with every ten pound weight loss. Congrats on getting through the emotional aspect of it - that gives me hope it will eventually totally go away for me. As for what you do now, I think exactly what you just did. You acknowledge your feelings but you…

I have a friend with 12 kids and this is what she does. It works well for them and they eat a completely whole foods diet. I couldn't do it because it's not my style and we have the luxury of not having to do it; but it does work! We are a family of 5. Two adults, one teen boy, and two teen girls. We spend $1200 a month on…

I have a Misfit Shine and LOVE it. First and foremost, it runs on a battery so I never have to charge it. Charging was a huge turn off for me. It comes with both a wrist band and a belt, bra, or shoe clip (or wherever else you can manage to clip it). Love this thing and much cheaper then a fitbit. One thing I noticed with…

I'd say that's fantastic results. It took me 4 months to lose 10#'s. Celebrate and keep going forward!
-
When I tore my leg and ankle up I actually lost 20#'s just sitting on the couch with my leg up for months on end (after surgery). It was the strangest thing, but a great feeling. LOL Healing physically does actually burn a few more calories so depending on how much healing you have to do, you might actually lose a few even…

I think it might have been Brain Over Binge I was thinking of but I will look at these others also. Thanks! edited: nope. Wasn't brain over binge. But The Beck Solution looks pretty close.
