I have a background in herbs and nutrition and that's not a connection I've ever been aware of. That doesn't mean it couldn't be for your body, but in general, it's not a known side effect of SJW. Have you tried things like upping your vit. C and B's during the winter for your SAD? That may be enough to help and allow you…

Wow. Just wow. There are plenty of studies that indicate exactly what OP is saying. Besides the weight gain factor, the health implications of artificial sweeteners is huge. Nutrasweet nearly killed me when I was pregnant. Literally. 7 days in a hospital on a morphine drip because of the stuff. And no, I'm not allergic to…

Order a thin crust vegetarian pizza with light cheese. You can enjoy a couple of slices and add the calories into your day and not feel left out.

Give yourself a week or two of just logging everything single thing you put in your mouth to get a feel for what your eating habits are really like. If you stay within the calorie guidelines that is great, but if you don't, do not stress over it. I found it took me a few weeks to really see what my habits were like for me…

Welcome! Fellow homeschooling mom here and about in the same place as you are. My best advice, especially with being home for all the meals with kids, is to plan and pre-log your meals. I find I do much better if I log at breakfast what I'm going to eat for lunch. Then I'm not tempted and I don't pick at what I'm making…

This was very helpful. Thank you!

Your MIL is an exact case for using Stonebreaker. If it works like it has for all of my friends the have used it, two weeks will usually take care of the issue. Once in awhile a 3rd week might need to be added but two usually does it. HyperPTH can definitely be an issue but had they ripped your GB out and not found the…

I love my Misfit Shine. It was $50USD. Tracks movement and sleep well. I sync it to my phone. I don't have my synced to MFP but I believe you can. What I like about it over the Fitbits is it is battery operated on a common size battery (2032) that lasts a really long time (and it tracks the battery life for you). I did not…

When I was large (36F/G American) I use to run wearing a regular bra and then a sports bra over that. I was a distance runner and that was the only way I could do it. It's not the most comfortable but it will give you a broader range of exercise that you can do besides swimming. I had a reduction when I was 22 (I was…

This is a victory. Stress eating is hard to break but this is how it starts. You find something to do to relieve the stress. I usually tell myself to wait an hour doing something I enjoy and if I still feel like I want something, then try to find a healthy snack to satisfy the need. Great job!! Journaling about your…

Yep. I usually just account for needing to add quite a bit of dark chocolate (I'm a ghiradelli girl) the first few days. Doing so usually takes care of the cravings for me. I don't even try to fight it. I just fit it into to my calories for the day or I do maintenance cals for those first 2 days and move on afterwards.

I tend to drink a lot of calories so I will have a shake a couple of times a week to get my fill. I use Costco's Vega Pea Protein powder, a banana, strawberries, and 1 cup of coconut milk blended. It makes a great shake, good protein (you can use one or two scoops of powder) and it fills my need. Sometimes I'll take one…

If you mean an anti-candida diet - yes. HARD. Did a combo of anti-candida and good probiotics for several months. Works well but hard to do.

I get a venti strawberry acai refresher for 130 calories. Except I can't drink it past 2pm or the caffeine keeps me up all night. :disappointed:

I have wondered the same thing about going premium. Anyone have thoughts on this?????

We used emergency preparedness to deal with the anxiety of "running out of food" or "I got a great sale on it." We have 4 months of non-perishable foods stored in containers and put in cool storage. Should we lose power (which we have) or some other disaster hits, we have enough to get by for a bit. We rotate things out as…

True, true. Probably more common that it's stones then what you had, but yes, there are other reasons for GB surgery for sure.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ THIS^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ I finally had to decide that my health was more important then any conversation (which was going to be hurtful anyway) with my mom. Perhaps you need to decide to only have a superficial relationship with your mom? I'm not rude, or unkind to my mom. I just choose not to call her. I do not…

It sounds like you have the ability to do this with diet and exercise and using MFP as a great tool. I would encourage you to seek counseling and deal with the emotional issues if you really want lifelong change. I started MFP 85 days ago and struggled like crazy to lose 6#'s in that time. I finally faced head on an…

Or you can use a product called Stonebreaker by Herbpharm and avoid surgery all together. I have more then a dozen friends who were having gallbladder issues and put a stop to it by going through two rounds (two 30mL bottles) of the Stonebreaker. Several were actually scheduled for surgery and cancelled it after using…

We avoid it like the plague. After having a 5yr old with precocious puberty (she had soy formula) that went away when we removed all soy - yeah, total avoid. And for men, I wouldn't go within 10ft of it.

It may have for you, but not for me. Some of us actually have a strong knowledge of both biology and health. People on these boards are so over the top AMA they wouldn't use a natural cure for something if God himself handed it to them and said it works. Good grief. Do yourself a favor and study.

If you want a fitbit but don't want the cost look at a Misfit Shine. I got mine for less then $50 and have been so happy with it. I did not want to have to charge mine and this runs on a 2032 battery (common to find). I've had it for months and the battery is still showing full charge. It's another option for those that…

I'm skimming 5'3" and currently at 234. Aiming for 150 (which sounds like a lot for my height but is actually almost perfect for me).

ACV increases digestive enzymes which are needed to digest your food. People get acid reflux not because they have too much acid but because they don't have enough and their food sits in their gut fermenting and then backs up causing reflux. The ACV fixes that. It's an excellent cure for acid reflux! Proton pump inhibitors…

After a ton of research I bought a Misfit. I wanted one that ran on a battery because I didn't want to be constantly charging it. When it syncs (via bluetooth with my phone) it tells me battery life. I've had it a month on full time use and it's still got a full battery. I've actually been pretty happy with it. I bought…

Can you tell her something along the lines of "I have so enjoyed our time walking together and I really appreciate you doing this with me. I am needing to up my activity level to running so I have to stop walking so I can run later in the day." Or something along those lines? If you HAVE to exercise at that time then you…
