Eczema is the outward result of an inward immune system reaction - yes. But 80% of the immune system resides in the gut. So someone that has eczema has a gut issue. Heal the gut, heal the eczema. So what can cause gut issues? Food allergies are the #1 reason because they cause inflammation and stripping/damage of the cells…

This has never been my experience but that does not mean it can't. On a medical level I seriously doubt it but I'm no doctor.

The only product I will use is their probiotic. Our son had an autoimmune disease in 2010 and was on high powered, expensive probiotics that he needed to help his gut. I tried relentlessly to find a probiotic that was as good as the gold (it felt like) we were giving him. When I tried the Plexus probio it did it. We…

As the person at my church that coordinates meals for those that need them, I can say it's VERY difficult to have any control over what people are bringing for you. That said, having been on the receiving end as well, I can tell you how much those meals will be a blessing to you. Given your circumstances (and having been a…

Details matter. I would put heavy emphasis on nutrient dense foods and a really good prenatal vitamin (don't know if they do those in UK like they do in the US).

I just don't get this. It's like people panic when someone is pregnant. First, my doctor's rule of thumb was simply eat at maintanance the entire pregnancy. He specifically told me I did not need to add any calories in future trimesters because baby is going to take from you what he/she needs. At 50 more pounds to your…

For sure, because people have different understandings of lent, it will be taught based on what the teacher knows/understands it to be. I was just sharing what I was taught in catholic h.s. Definitely, biblical fasting is a different animal and for different reasons then what is stated for lent.
-
Raised and confirmed catholic. Even in high school, giving up something for lent was impressed upon us to be used as a time of sacrifice (like giving up chocolate or whatever) and any money that would have been spent on what was given up was suppose to be given to charity or the church. On a spiritual level we were told to…

I recently had my first 50 day cycle. From day 28 until day 50 when I actually started I had total cycle symptoms. Some cramping (not non-stop, just normal cycle cramping), bloating (lots), tons of water, and every other symptom I normally get that indicates I'm going to start. The symptoms did not go away until I actually…

My doctor swears by intermittent fasting for lowering BG. I have done it and like it but for some reason can't bring myself to do it these days. Otherwise, for me, lift progressively heavier and moderating carbs (not even low carb) has helped tremendously. Cardio does not really work for me in terms of lowering BG but I do…

I would suggest adding some magnesium oxide to your life if constipation/bloating is the issue. Anywhere between 400 and 800mg a day is normal. Always start at the lower end and use the same amount for 3 days before adding any additional. When you hit bowel function then that's the spot you would stay at. For long term…

I would fail if I could not have at least one dark chocolate mint ghiradelli square a day. Must.have.something.sweet. :)

This actually made me laugh. We almost never go to the doctor unless we suspect a broken bone or something. Dr. Mom kicks in and I start researching. I list out the possibilities of what something could be from the least serious to the most serious. Then I go down the list one by one either testing or eliminating…

Thank you!! These are what I was looking for.

You might really consider progesterone supplementation. It can make such a difference at this in between time!

Oh my goodness! I just realized we go to the same gym in the same town! Your pictures hang in the gym. I have looked at them and read your story a number of times there. Well done and perhaps I'll actually get to meet you.
-
Yep. I use them in the context of CBT and find they work very well for changing the mindset and helping to meet goals. If I'm trying to avoid eating when I'm not really hungry I will sometimes write them in a notebook over and over like sentences had to be Written in school. That sounds crazy but I can get to the end of…

This is a very helpful explanation! I think it describes why I feel so much better when my progesterone is increased. I've had friends say they are bleeding and having periods for weeks on end while in Peri-m. I've had so many friends whose doctors have said there isn't anything causing it so they should just get a…

I totally get this. Honestly, I looked forward to menopause because sick of BC and couldn't wait to do away with it! Lol! My mom was the same way about not telling me things and both my sisters had hysterectomies in their 30's so I really didn't know what would happen. I do think having worked hard at keeping my hormones…

Well, I do know what EPO (erythropoietin) is because I had to give my MIL shots of it when she had leukemia. :s But you are correct, it is also evening primrose oil. LOL I just assumed no one else would know what the other was so I was "safe" writing it that way. Never assume. I know better then that. :# My girls and I…

I mentioned previously that I held a ton of water. I did 32oz. of cranberry juice concentrate mixed with water (about 1-2 oz. of concentrate per 16-20oz of water) until the entire box of concentrate was gone. It took me 24-48hrs to get through it. I was in the bathroom constantly. :D I left the hospital weighing easily…

This is one supplement where quantity matters. I was told minimum 1300mg twice a day. You might check to see how much you're getting daily. Help might just be a matter of increasing how much you're taking.
-
Okay. Got it. I wonder if evening primrose oil might be an option then? It's an omega 6. Might be something to run past your doctor. I mention it because it is known to help balance hormones but is not hormonal in nature at all (as in HRT). It can take a few months of daily use for it to kick into full gear, but it might…

This is encouraging. I turn 47 next week and am a bit young for missing cycles but my mom stopped in her late 40's. I'm not liking the 50 days between cycles that my body seems to want to do right now but I am looking forward to them just stopping completely. It's nice to know things DO improve. :p

And because you have 4 wonderful kids, you would likely benefit from at least taking a multi vitamin or even just a B Complex. Parenting is exhausting and the added vitamins can give you an energy boost while you're losing. I definitely agree with others, up your calories a bit. Add in some good fats and see if that helps.

Yep. My rate of loss is slower then a tortoise but it's steady. I have severe insulin resistance. I have found a few supplements that have helped this past month but mostly I just keep plowing ahead. Just stick to it.
-
That sounds awful! I'm so thankful I haven't really had the hot flash thing. I would definitely be looking at something natural to help. Progesterone or another supplement of some sort. Epo?
-
I'm happy to answer whatever questions I can for you. If any of it helps then that's great.

Oy. Back again to waiting for cycle to start - or not. I'm on day 30. Already past my normal start. Hungry, weepy, nutty, forgetful. Argh. I'm ready for my cycles to just be done. I am dreading if I go another 20 days before starting because the water weight and pms just continue until I start. Last time was 50 days. My…

The company that does the ELISA 96 that I'm aware of (there may be others) is US Biotek. http://www.usbiotek.com/Content/Order/Order.html There is a form that you can see in the middle of the page. That form needs to be printed off and filled out and taken to a doctor that is willing to draw the blood for the test. The…
