It won't automatically track your walking as exercise in MFP. You have to track exercise separately. If you have a Charge HR and your exercise elevates your heart rate to the Fat Burn level or higher, MFP will automatically add calories for that, but if you also track your exercise, it will double up the extra calories it…

Diet Coke doesn't make me break out in hives. It doesn't give me terrible headaches or heartburn. It doesn't make me eat more (I track my calories) and it doesn't make me more hungry. If it did, I would stop drinking it. I don't drink a ton of it, but when I'm craving sugar and I don't want to blow my calories for the day,…

I think this is an important point. A lot of people approach calorie restriction by assessing the maximum they can restrict their food intake without being "too hungry". I have been guilty of this in the past. But there is value to food, and reducing it by too much has tradeoffs.

What do you want to accomplish by eating "clean"? I personally prefer a more balanced approach, where I try to eat more whole foods than I have in the past, but I eat some processed foods for convenience. If you are trying to avoid processed foods, I would say that Special K doesn't fit that bill. But I also don't see the…

I've switched from WW in the last few months. I miss the weekly points, but I stick to my daily points and the consistency has actually been good for me - I think I needed that change. As far as my fitbit calories, I don't eat them all. I find it gives me more extra food than the WW activity points did. I eat some of them,…

Depending on your height and your weight loss goal, you may be at the lowest calorie goal, which is 1200 for women. I don't think MFP will allow you to set it below that.

I am not a morning person at all. When I have had a successful run of morning exercise in the past, it felt impossible to get up when I started, but all it took was for me to start. After a while, it became easier and easier for me to get up, and I got into a routine. I was energized early in the day, felt better all day…

At my heaviest, my wedding ring left an angry red mark on my finger and hurt like hell. I probably shouldn't have been wearing it, but I felt so guilty about it. It was absolutely the worst thing about being at that weight. I'm so happy for you that you are seeing that progress! You'll be wearing it full-time any day now!

I don't think there's anything wrong with the box per se, assuming the contents aren't completely arbitrary. If it helps you to physically put all your food in a box to know that you can't eat anything outside of it, I can see how that would be psychologically helpful. But unless there is some method behind what you put in…

Yes, not eating at night! I used to eat a snack before going to the gym, then I did an hour of weightlifting and 45 minutes of cardio. I would get home at around 9:00 p.m., and eat another snack - basically I was splitting my dinner calories into before and after my workout. I was told by someone at work that I shouldn't…

I got my first comment from someone at work that I look like I've lost weight!
Also, hunger cannot be what you base your needs off of. Many of us gained weight because we ate when we were "hungry." Turns out, it was stress, boredom, lack of control, and many other things that turned into bad habits.
This is gold. I think a problem a lot of people have when they're trying to lose…

A couple of years ago I started to delay my breakfast to a few hours after waking, based on something I read about morning cortisol release. It has made a world of difference for me. I used to be desperately hungry all morning, no matter how much whole food protein and fibre I ate. It made it very difficult for me to…

Don't focus solely on weight goals is such an important one. You can't control your weight, but you can control your behaviour and that is what will make you successful.

This actually doesn't work for me. I weigh myself every day to see the tiny up and down fluctuations that can happen. As long as I don't obsess about daily changes in my weight, weighing myself daily is actually helpful. Doing it once a week I find I put too much pressure on that number, whereas if I do it daily and it's…

Don't focus on the scale - focus on how much better you feel and how much more energy you have. The weight loss can take a while or plateau and that can threaten your motivation.

I'm currently at 180 pounds, hoping to get down to 150-155.

I've found the most difficult part about weight loss is that your immediate result is not necessarily a reflection of the work you are doing right now. When I had a lot to lose, I was working so hard and it felt like results were so slow. It was very frustrating to still be unhappy with my body when I was doing everything…

I appreciate the snark! Sarcasm is my love language too!

Haha, obviously there are differences of opinion, and there are definitely people whose common sense I would question. But in general, I am finding a lot more people who look at things from a much more objective perspective than I'm used to. I am finding that my way of thinking is much more in line with the general…

I don't log on vacation. When I go for a week, whether I carefully try to make some better choices or not, I seem to always come home with a seven-pound gain (idk why seven!), which is mostly water weight. I get right back to logging when I get home and lose it within a week, getting me back into the swing of things. As…

Like many others, I weigh myself daily and track it once a week. I know it can fluctuate and don't freak out if it's off, but I like to see the trends. If I don't lose what I'm expecting in a week, it helps me to know that my weight was lower early in the week, and it will correct itself. I don't obsess about it, and I…

Side note: I completely understand the fear of eating when you want to lose weight quickly. It's true that undereating can cause damage, but I also find that when I don't eat enough, I actually stop losing weight. That's why I need some kind of a tracking system to help me with both overeating and undereating.
