  • Hang in there! You're doing great. At the end of the day, the most important thing is to keep working towards your goal--pace is less important than making sure you are always headed in the right direction. You've got this!
  • I love how you are focusing on behavior! It took me a long time to acknowledge my need to modify behaviors. I'm getting better, I think. Today at Trader Joe's I was staring at some cupcakes. I hadn't had this kind since college (3 years ago). Omg cupcakes. 340 calories each. I could eat one a day if I went to the gym,…
  • I think it's definitely from the exercise, and it sounds like good things are coming your way. Keep it up!
  • Good for you! You really exercised impressive willpower. I always gain a little from eating out (no matter how healthy) bc the increased sodium content. You are doing awesome work!
  • @LesIckaBod I buy it as a blend at my local grocery store from the frozen aisle. I'm certain it's probably easy to make at home, but I'm all about super fast, convenient cooking (haha so I'm a lazy cook). I like regular Riced cauliflower too (when dressed or combined with something--alone is meh to me) but the texture…
  • Calorie counting and protein/carb/fat aware :)
  • Hey @sara41164 There have been some great suggestions in this thread, and I'd like to add my perspective. I cook for my picky immediate family sometimes although I don't have kids, so I think your situation is far more challenging than mine. Here is my perspective... It's easy to make delicious unhealthy food. It's harder…
  • Confession time: yesterday was not one of my better days. Normally I buy those frightfully expensive little pints of ice cream bc I find the visual aspect really helpful. I will eat half the carton or a quarter depending on my calories for the day. Generally I get lighter choices for my pints (less than 150 cal per…
  • @biblebabe588 Strength training is awesome, and I’m sure you will beat this plateau soon. I generally see a bump in my weight for the days following strength training bc of the water retention from small muscular tears (all normal and good things). This weight bump isn’t “real” since it’s generally just water weight if the…
  • @WishfulThinning18 @LesIckaBod has some great suggestions! I’ll add that I, too, have found better ways to manage my ravenous days through trial, error, and observation. For me, I noticed that my hungry days often followed days of weightlifting or strength training. Other days appeared random, though. I realized that it…

  • @sara41164 Welcome to the team! I love your message. @biblebabe588 Welcome! I love using this forum as a sounding board and am glad you’ve found like-minded people to talk to on your journey—we are here to support you.
  • Hi, all! I'm Elise, a mid-twenties English teacher living in Va with Aspen, my maltese mix furbaby. I’ve been a part of this team since January. I'm not traditionally a fan of exercise, but I am now addicted to it. I started small with the optional challenges (you’ll learn about them soon if you aren’t already familiar…
  • My father has always pushed exercise, and he’s been pretty good about supporting that. He watches my dog all the time when I’m at the gym and never complains. This week I was at his office for a check up (he is a dentist), and the hygienist said, “You must be so proud” (of the weight loss). He said, “Yes, I am proud.” I…
  • Username: eevang Weigh-in week: Week 3 Weigh-in day: Monday Previous week's weight: 173 Current weight: 170 This has been a good week. I’m starting to do more weight training to start focusing more on toning. I’m now at my second year of college weight. I’ve thought a lot about my ultimate weight goals, and I’ve decided to…
  • @emmclean You’ve got this! It’s so awesome to hear your successes, and I love how even “maintenance” weeks can be successful for weight loss after good habits and commitments are put in place. Keep it up.
  • Time for a SV & a NSV! Yesterday, my weight dropped to 50 pounds lost :) In honor of that, I’m posting a photo from day 1 of my journey (late October) to this week. The non-scale victory? I’m wearing Birkenstocks in both photos, and they had to be tightened two notches to fit in the right photo. Also...the pic on the right…
  • Thanks @LesIckaBod I use these posts to reflect on my experiences and to understand how I feel. Being in touch with my emotions is a big part of my journey to a healthier lifestyle. I’m so glad my posts can help someone else as well! I think it takes time to learn to be kind to ourselves. I remember thinking before this…
  • Username: eevang Weigh-in week: Week 2 Weigh-in day: Monday Previous week's weight: 173.6 Current weight: 173 Hmmm...not quite as much as I hoped/expected. However, I know I’ve been pretty good with keeping under calories this week, and I did some new strength training workouts recently (which can inflate weight…
  • I always start the day tracking but if I know that I’ll be going over and want to eat a mystery food (some random homemade side or dessert that a family member brings), I’ll stop tracking. I’m much more regimented on non-holidays since homemade food is easy enough to track when you prepare it yourself!
  • I’m really impressed by those who are prelogging with frequency! I do it if I have leftovers I know I will eat but that’s about it. My habit is having fairly healthy snacks that I will eat but won’t love. Basically nuts, beef jerky, and protein powder. I keep a measuring cup in the nuts bag. I eat the snack only if I don’t…

  • Today was...not great. First time I “broke” in a long time. Went to the doctor for a 2pm appt and had the bright idea to fast, so I could get the blood work done right after my appt. I didn’t get out until 3:30pm. I really should’ve waited until Monday for the blood work. There was no rush. Ate a healthy planned lunch…
  • Hi, all! I'm Elise, a mid-twenties English teacher living in Va with Aspen, my maltese mix furbaby. I’ve been a part of this team since January. I'm not traditionally a fan of exercise, but I am now addicted to it. I keep pushing myself at the gym and have recently started to run on the treadmill for short sprints. I…

  • Thanks, @LesIckaBod! I’ve been really good since getting back (I’m really glad it was easy to pick up where I left off) and think I’ll have a nice loss this coming week. Being able to prep my own food/choose from familiar local menus really does make the difference. I hated not knowing the calorie content of the cruise…
  • Username: eevang Weigh-in week: Week 4 Weigh-in day: Monday Previous week's weight: 176 Current weight: 177.4 Went on a cruise...not having the myfitnesspal access was the hardest part! I worked out a bunch but not knowing the calorie content of food was tough.
  • @craigo3154 I’ll be out of town this coming Monday but will make sure to weigh in on Thursday when I get back. Just wanted to give you a heads up!

  • Things have been a bit crazy lately. I’ve been studying for a massive test and tracking/exercise has been such a challenge to keep up with this past week. Only 3 days of exercise out of 7 for me (I’ve become very used to 5 or more and really missed those extra days) and tracking has been on and off. I’d estimate I normally…
