I completely agree with some convenience foods. What I don't like is that most convenience foods, like restaurant foods (even in healthy vegan places!), use an excessive amount of sugar, salt, or oil. e.g. I had a catered meal from a local spot the other day - roasted veggie skewers. Yay, right? Well, there was so much oil…

My teens don't currently have a weight problem - but we're cracking down on the junk food and pushing them hard to choose healthy, nutritious foods. Yes, they still have junk food (took them for ice cream as a treat yesterday since they've been so great helping with housework and yardwork). But by and large, we're training…

I am 5ft and currently 134 lbs. I set myself as lightly active and was given 1230 cals. I eat all my exercise calories and am losing consistently 1 lb a week (it's been on the dot for the past 4 weeks lol). I personally feel it is likely that between cooking and cleaning, I probably would be classed as active instead of…

I've been WONDERING about the whole kitten thing for the last couple of days. I figured out pretty quickly it was substitute, but I thought it was an insider joke on here or something that I missed. Most websites just ** out any undesirable words :)

So sorry that u had such a bad experience :( I loved my Mirena - had continuous spotting but preferred that to getting periods. I took mine out at 5 years. My cycle started back up but Started off mostly as very light periods. Even now, 8 years later, my period cycle is still altered. I used to be super heavy for 7 days.…

Hi twin! I just got back on track - so time for you to do it too :) I think what threw me off was not allowing myself the indulgence I was craving. So when I finally got it, I binged bad, and kept it up for several days. Next time I get that TOM binging period again, I'm going to allow myself to eat at maintenance for a…

I struggle with it too. I find it hits me hard for a few days about 1-2 weeks before my TOM and I physically feel bloated. This past time it happened, I let myself go and ate everything in sight for a couple of days. i then convinced myself that I could do just fine without logging. Well, after a week or two of that, I…

For me the first 1-2 weeks are the hardest. I habit hack like crazy - lots of water/hot unsweetened herbal teas and tiny mint candies. A lot of struggle with not feeling satisfied from my meals. Hungry and always thinking about food. Then, it magically got easier. Suddenly I wonder how I'm going to eat all my calories for…

Finding ways to tighten your logging is a big habit change. But it really, really does work. I like seeing the math...and TRUSTING the math. The other thing I have been learning is that weight loss takes endless patience. You've chosen MFP. Commit with yourself to give it a fair shot. Choose a specific calorie goal and…

It was easier than I expected - although I just recently had my first hump where I got tired of logging and ate too much for a couple of weeks and struggled to get committed again. I've gone back to logging - but as always, the first 1-2 weeks, I am starving. I'm just starting to get back to my zone where I am satisfied at…

I picked up a couple pairs of Not My Daughter's Jeans when they were on a super sale and really liked them. Can't wait until I fit back into them again!! (currently a size 8 and they were size 6). I feel your pain - I ended up buying a little stretchy clip that clips on to my belt loops to tighten up the waist. My local…

Someone here said that success is losing at a reasonable pace while eating AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE. Like most newbies, I resisted that in the beginning, jumping all in and trying to go all out. Life happens and the time came when I wasn't working out as consistently as in the beginning. I also got HANGRY sometimes. And…

There are seasons and times when I am content with the lower calorie restrictions of being 5ft nothing tall...and times when it is frustrating being so short. (Especially with 5'11 DH). I do get envious when other MFPers talk about how many snacks they get to eat. I'd have to be super careful with my other meals to have…

I track weekly too. Helps so very much. In the app, I can look at the weekly nutrition which tells me how many calories I have left for the week. Love it.

That's fabulous! You are rocking it. So nice to compare photos and realize how amazing a job you have done!
-
That's amazing!! I love the pants comparison...sooooo looking forward to the day that I can shop for new clothes!!

I hear ya - it's frustrating when u see no real noticeable loss on your body, even when u see it on the scale. I've lost 17.8lbs since January and it's barely noticeable. Yes my clothes fit better and I can wear some tops I had to stop wearing, but overall, I don't look much different. My DH, who has always been at a…

I try to set aside extra calories for the weekend. I hear ya - it seems to be mostly in the weekends that go over!
-
I see. I just named my little mini routine and input it as one single set of reps. And that's what I input into MFP each time.
-
Curious - if u don't want to add calories, why not add it in the strength training section? Why in the cardio side?
-
Just read your comment and I like the way you think. It's not always bad to have a few days of indulgence...and then get back to work again on losing some more!

I just have to share. A few days ago I was feeling great. Since then, I have spent the last couple of days eating everything in sight simply because I got crabby. I haven't completely climbed out of this hole yet - BUT I KNOW I WILL. Just wanted to share that I feel your pain. This is my first big fall in a long time and I…

How easy is a spiralizer? I make zoodles all the time but use a ridged peeler. It is pretty easy but my hands do get tired after a while.

Sigh. I should have worked out more this week. I am about 1-2 weeks away from my period and have been crabby since Monday. Worst of all, have had mad cravings and been eating insane amounts of food over the past 2 days. I had fried chicken wings for lunch and promised myself I would stop after...even skipped dinner because…

A few days off is not a huge deal. I just spent a week on vacation pigging out - really went overboard. Came home 2 lbs heavier. I've now been home a full week and have dropped 3 lbs already and am at my new low. U just have to settle into a new normal - figure out how to live normally within your new calorie goal.…

I don't know what exactly clicked for me. I've always believed in CICO but felt I had to starve and eat "diet food". Tried the moderation and portion control thing but quickly fell off the wagon. This time felt different almost from the beginning. I'm still new though - 15 pounds since the beginning of January. The actual…

Depends on how "bad" your cheating is on the weekend. I just went on a weekend getaway with DH and decided I would eat what I wanted and I banked some extra calories. Had a Chinese buffet for lunch (and surprised myself when I logged it at only about 1500 calories), followed by 1 roll of grocery store sushi for dinner (we…

Ditto - I actually overestimated the amount of cream cheese, Nutella, etc - have sometimes been very pleasantly surprised. Deli meat shocked me - didn't know I could eat THAT many slices :)

Maybe try different types of food? I made zoodles Lo Mein for the first time today - ate a huge portion around 300 calories. I'm still in shock at how full I am. Did something similar with baked eggplant the other day - except I was groaning after about 500 cals or so.
