Someone posted this in another thread a while back, and it cracked me up

Yay - I hope you like it as much as I do!

I LOVE my Enell bra. It's the only sports bra I've ever owned that did not require a second bra with it to do its job! It is pricey, but worth it! ($50-$75 depending on where you buy it). http://enell.com/enell-sport.html If you have a specialty bra shop near you, it's good to go and try them on. According to their sizing,…

I got to the gym this morning and I was about to get out of the car when I realized that I didn't have my headphones :disappointed: . I put the keys in the car, turned it on, and was about to leave thinking "oh well, I guess I can't work out today", when I thought "Hey, Step it Up September." So I went in an worked out…

This - so much this!

Ha - you're hilarious! I added you

Does that mean that you haven't had any protein for 2 weeks - only fat? As far as I've read, a "fat fast" should only be done for about 3 days. As for the cravings, eat something delicious/decadent that you maybe never would have considered in the low fat days. Coffee with HWC, steak with blue cheese & butter on it....…

Oh my gosh @neohdiver , you have had quite a year (decade!). That is amazing that you were able to stick with healthy eating even through battling cancer! Your progress is fantastic and so inspirational. Congratulations on making it to your goal! (And beating back cancer & diabetes to boot!) I love your picture with both…

That's awesome!!!

I was googling the number of carbs in red wine (seems to be about 4), when I came across this old Atkins quote, which seems appropriate: “Here’s the problem with all alcoholic beverages, and the reason I recommend refraining from alcohol consumption on the diet. Alcohol, whenever taken in, is the first fuel to burn. While…

Mine has been thinning too, but then it occurred to me to check on my medications. I'm on 2 blood pressure medications - atenolol and amlopidine. It turns out the atenolol is linked to hair loss. Are you on anything like that? I went on it right around the time I started keto, so it's hard to say for sure what the culprit…

I had a plan to dust off and charge up our fitbit and try to do more steps each day than the previous day (as I have no idea what my steps are now), but I can't find the charger :disappointed: If my husband can't find it, I guess my goal will be to stick to each one of my planned workouts for September (every Tuesday,…

I've also read that cortisol can block your efforts to lose weight. Are there any things that you can do in your life to reduce your stress? (I know, easier said than done!). Here's a good article about cortisol: https://intensivedietarymanagement.com/closer-look-cortisol-hormonal-obesity-xxxx/

I love this!

That drives most of us crazy, so a lot of us just hide in this group, where people are actually very open-minded and constantly reading and discussing new ideas. There's also a lot of wisdom up in the launch pad - you should check it out!

Dr. Fung doesn't make it very clear in this post (but I've found his book and YT lectures to be pretty clear), but I *think* (and someone please correct me if I am wrong), is that he is saying that when you cut your calories so drastically without doing much to lower your insulin levels (keto, IF, etc.), your body has to…

This group is incredibly supportive! It's the reason I have been successful for the first time in a very long time. I added you.

@kpk54 - I was just going with what the chart said - not what I would personally do. I like playing with numbers, so figuring out the calculations was fun for me. I also calculated what I would be eating personally if I followed that chart - just shy of 1000 calories. Not for me! It looks like he only advocates doing that…

Or, if you have a good estimate of your total daily energy expenditure (TDEE - such a guessing game!), you multiply it by 0.05 for carbs (calories from carbs), 0.20 for protein (calories from protein), and 0.25 for fat (calories from fat). Then you are eating half of your TDEE, so the other half will be coming from body…

I've never seen a chart like that, but the way I'd go about doing it is this Use a macro calculator like this one: http://www.ruled.me/keto-calculator/ Adjust the protein number until you get to 20% and fat is 75% (you may also have to adjust the carb number). Then, eat 1/3 of the fat grams, and assume the rest is coming…

Sounds great. Not sure if I want to dust off the old fit bit, or "step it up" in another way though....
-
And I just placed a request for it from our library system, so thanks for the idea!

I haven't read that one, but I definitely would! I have read Phinney & Volek book - great stuff. It got to stay, along with Taubes' "Why We Get Fat" and "Good Calories, Bad Calories", when I KonMari'd all of my books (got rid of the ones that didn't "bring me joy." ). Harry Potter stayed too, obviously....

Coffee with heavy whipping cream is an excellent treat  You're in what my sister and I call the "hungry phase", where you're going thru carb withdrawal (cravings galore!). In the first two weeks or so, I recommend not looking at calories at all, and when you get hungry, eat something fatty & salty. That cranky…

Fantastic numbers!!! I am about to get my blood drawn after 6 months keto - your numbers give me strength to resist drugs if mine have gone up since last time.

I gave it up (Diet Crack as I call it) along with all other artificial sweeteners in April. It's been really great for me - I don't think I realized how much it was causing me to crave sweet stuff. As others stated, the "straw that broke the camel's back" for me was reading that they can cause increases in insulin, which,…

@KnitOrMiss - I am trying to come off of atenolol right now! I've had some hair loss in the last few months, and it only occurred to me *last night* that it could be one of my two bp medicines (atenolol & amlopidine). (I added DE a few weeks ago per your advice in another thread!) So apparently atenolol and other…
