I've had this discussion with friends. One in particular cut out all grains, sugar, fat, etc. on some weight loss plan. Another did something similar. They lost some weight but gained it back. They wanted to know how I lost weight, so I explained CICO and you would think it was some revolutionary idea and couldn't believe…

I'm on team fibroid also and this happens to me. It's not related to weight loss for me. It wouldn't hurt to talk to your doctor about it if it keeps happening.

I'm up today but I expected that. I got my TOM back last month (10 months post-partum) and have a lot of issues with cysts and fibroids causing severe bloating, cramping, and breakthrough bleeding. I started birth control again yesterday to stave off everything so I'll see what kind of improvement that makes. Height: 5'1"…

@Starflight00 I'm just making sure I'm watching my calories. I weigh and measure everything but I pretty much eat everything with no restrictions. I also lift weights and have been lifting since Winter 2016, and I kept lifting during my pregnancy which made a huge difference this time around despite gaining so much again.…

Like the US Military and other health organizations, I consider BMI to be an approximation of fatness (the technical term, not an insult) that can be very helpful for people aiming for a healthy weight range and to lose body fat that may be contributing to health problems. And like the US Military and other health…

Hello everyone! It's my first time posting but I could use the accountability because I'm 6 pounds to my first goal weight! I haven't decided on a final goal weight, simply because I've been overweight or obese all of my adult life and I'm moving into unknown territory and don't know what that would look like. I lost 63…

It's been kind of an interesting experiment for me. Two years ago at the same BMI, I was 4 inches bigger in my waist and 3 inches bigger in my hips. This time around I've been able to wear old clothes that didn't fit until I was 20 pounds lighter the last go around. I don't consider myself a body builder, but body…

Set your account to maintenance and let your baby create the deficit. Also, search the forum for breastfeeding and you'll find a lot more info on the subject. You shouldn't be restricting calories on top of the deficit breastfeeding creates.

This. All of the drama and insecurity is a great sign that it's time to move on. If you don't have feelings of mutual trust and security from the beginning, they're not right for you. Eventually you will find someone where all of that clicks and you'll regret wasting time on anyone else. Use this time to work on yourself…

Cod, catfish, halibut, walleye, trout, etc. are what I eat regularly.

OP is also getting wooed for paying me a compliment. That's cool.

6 pounds to go until I hit my first goal weight. I've been strength training for two years, including through a pregnancy. The first picture was post-partum in May 2017 after gaining 55 pounds. A cool lesson on muscle density: in the second photo I was the same weight as two years prior, but my waist was 2 inches smaller…

I'm six pounds to my first goal, which is still considered overweight. I've reached that goal before and plan to continue in 10 pound increments until I'm satisfied. I think I would be satisfied at the top of a normal BMI range. I'm about 17 pounds "overweight" in this photo. I've been strength training for two years. BMI…

Set your account to maintenance for a few weeks and see how it goes. Your baby will create the deficit and you'll lose as long as you weigh and measure your food properly. If you lose more the two pounds a week, adjust it so you're eating more. I don't recommend eating at a deficit while breastfeeding. It's an ever…

Did your health care provider not explain to you that nursing full-time takes a lot of calories out of you? People like to estimate 500 calories a day but there really isn't any way of knowing how accurate that is for each person. If you're nursing full-time you don't have to set your calories at a deficit. You WILL lose…

OP I'm nursing a 10 month old and eat ABOVE maintenance (1900-2000 calories) several days a week to avoid losing more than two pounds a week. I've still managed to lose 48 pounds. If you're nursing a younger baby I highly recommend you set your account to maintenance and lose more slowly if you're interested in maintaining…

That's based on the assumption that the person knows how to set an appropriate deficit and knows how many calories their baby is taking from them. We don't have an accurate way of measuring calorie burn from breastfeeding. So if they set their deficit to two pounds a week and their baby is taking who knows how many…

The point being, if you're breastfeeding a baby who taxes you 500 calories a day and also trying to eat in a deficit, you run the risk of seriously depriving yourself of calories and hurting your milk supply and other vital things. So there is some protection involved in eating at maintenance (or even above in some cases)…

I've been using MFP since 2014 and when I was nursing a smaller baby in the past I always went by the maintenance advice. That's the advice that doctors and midwives give to patients who need to lose weight after birth. Track at maintenance, and let the baby create the deficit. Or if the patient doesn't need to lose, eat…

Oh and if you search for breastfeeding under snacks it's in there but I believe it's -500 calories.

I'm nursing a ten month old and set my calories for maintenance and lose well that way. When I was nursing a two year old two years ago (Maybe 3-5 times a day/night), I ate at a slight deficit and lost fine. You will be using some calories toward milk production so tracking your food intake carefully (weighing and…

I'm 10 months post-partum and breastfeeding. My calories are set to maintenance because my baby still nurses constantly (and eats all the food and is the size of a two year old) and I lose a pound, give or take, every week. I don't recommend trying to lose more than that. I'm down about 48 pounds now and I'm close to my…

I have five kids and my youngest is 10 months old. I lost 63 pounds before I got pregnant with him with the help of MFP and really got into strength training, and since he was born I've lost 47 pounds. I have 9 pounds to go to hit my first goal, and then I'm going to take it another 10 pounds at a time until I'm satisfied.…

How you store fat and the appearance of cellulite are largely dependant on genetics but I think strength training definitely won't hurt. I'm in my 30's and I've noticed a huge improvement in cellulite in my legs while strength training over the last two years. I was pregnant and gained 55lbs. in that time-frame (I'm…

My advice is to not eat at a deficit while breastfeeding. The best thing you can do is put all of your stats into MFP and set your account to maintenance, and then eat all of those calories. If you have a baby like mine, you may even be able to eat above maintenance and still lose! Nature did this wonderful thing where our…
