I think the easiest thing for me is to eliminate as much of the needless decision making as possible in order to simplify things and eliminate mental fatigue that's keeping me from taking care of myself. I have five kids, a spouse in the military, and I juggle many things on my own without any family support. I don't cook…

There really isn't a way for the app to determine how many calories you're burning from breastfeeding. You can't use the app as intended for weight loss while breastfeeding because the calorie goal would be too low. There are entries for logging breastfeeding as 500 extra calories to eat per day, but that's an estimate.…

This is a problem that plagues so many women. They don't like their physique, so they're convinced they need to lose even more weight to get where they want to be. And then they get there, and they're unhappy with what they see. They end up looking like a lighter version of their previous self with the same lumps and…

I have four kids who will be t&ting this year. Two of them are in braces and I have sensitive teeth so I don't eat candy, but I don't plan to keep candy in my house for longer than a week. The kids can eat some each day and then I get rid of it. If it's not there, you can't eat it.

My highest weight was 220lbs. I have lost 70 pounds and at no point in my weight loss have I ever eaten anywhere close to 1000 calories.

I'm 5'1", 124-25lbs, and my estimated maintenance is around 2400 calories a day. There is something seriously off with your logging if you think you can only maintain on 1000 calories a day. Get a food scale and start using it diligently for several weeks. I guarantee you'll be surprised by how much you're really eating.

Hi everyone! Looks like many of you are making good progress and hanging in there! Welcome to the newcomers! I got sick at the beginning of October and thought at first it was an asthma flair-up from allergies, but I wasn't coughing at all, just a lot of pain while breathing. Turns out it was an infection of the membrane…

The baby got bigger. I got smaller.

I find it easier to stick to my calorie goals when not drinking on a regular basis. I just prefer to get all of my calories from food. I have a drink or two at social events maybe 5 times a year.

If you hadn't already posted in the past about your preoccupation with your child's looks and weight, I might actually believe this. But I don't. What you're saying just doesn't add up. She needs her injury treated and she needs a parent to model healthy behavior about her body, weight, and food. Telling a child to drop to…

Yeah I'm sorry but I'm calling BS on this. For a child who is still growing and active and barely overweight, I don't buy this. I don't buy that they wouldn't come up with a treatment plan to help her be more active without counting calories first. Get a new pediatrician and see a registered dietitian and stop consulting…

If she's not complying, what are you going to do then? Tell school administration to watch her? Tell her friends to scold her if she doesn't eat what you designate for her? Seriously. If she is resentful of your current methodology and eating behind your back, that should be a serious warning sign to stop what you're doing…

I recommend you find a new doctor because I really don't see this working out in your daughter's favor. Your preoccupation with her weight is also concerning. Did you ever speak to a registered dietitian? Did the specialist recommend weight loss for the problem or the pediatrician? What happens if getting to the bottom of…

I wanted to get into a healthy BMI range while also maintaining as much muscle mass as possible. This is the first time I've been within a healthy BMI in my entire adult life, and I really wanted to know what it would look like but mentally it's been easier to deal with fluctuations since I'm still staying within a healthy…

Not so much soggy as kind of flattened but it does mostly maintain its shape.

<3 I'm still nursing the giant baby man that I'm holding in the bottom left picture so I actually eat about 2600 to maintain. 2400 is my best guess for actual maintenance if I weren't nursing based on my own data.

I'm 5'1" and I've lost weight twice with MFP. Currently maintaining and recomping at 126-27 and a size 2 with an eventual plan to lose a few more vanity pounds. My highest weight ever was 220, but I started this second time around at 195lbs. almost 18 months ago after my 5th baby was born. I primarily focused on calories…

We laughed about it. I expressed humility and joked about what an idiot I was and how I should have acknowledged what I know now years ago and saved myself many years of struggle.

Probably 5 or 6 years ago at least, most likely longer, I distinctly remember having a conversation with a close friend about calorie reduction for weight loss. I completely balked at the idea of reducing calories because I KNEW I was only eating 1500 calories and as a grown, active woman there was no way I could eat less.…

Set your account up to lose a half pound a week and start logging your food intake. You don't need to exercise to lose weight, but you do need to be consuming less calories than you burn. Lots of people find a food scale helps with accuracy (I'm one of them) and I also recommend checking out all of the getting started…

Congratulations on your baby! Since you're only a week post-partum, I don't advise attempting to implement intentional weight loss until at least 6-8 weeks post-partum. The big reason being that you still have a lot of fluid retention and fluctuating hormones that will balance out over the coming weeks, and by that point…

The combination of not accurately weighing everything and going over your calorie goal over 1/3 of the time you've been logging is why you're not losing. Fix both of those things and do it consistently for several weeks. It is highly unlikely that you will commit to even fewer calories if you're not willing to buckle down…

Don't forget the hot dog water.

I haven't read it (and doubt I will) but I've already seen the commentary about it so I can guess what's in it. At one point in time, I would have made similar commentary and used articles like this as justification for staying obese. Confirmation bias.

I understand feeling the frustration. You have come so far and have much to be proud of. Don't give up now! I'm also 5'1" and was over 200lbs. at my highest weight 9 years ago. I'm down almost 100 pounds now and I still have a hard time seeing the new me in the mirror. Have you taken a diet break at all in this time? Diet…

In agreement that it really comes down to genetics. I carried the vast majority of my weight in my lower half. When I lost the weight, I came to the shocking realization that I'm not hourglass or pear shaped at all, but an inverted triangle. There is only a 6 inch difference between my hips and waist. I have small hips,…

Start logging your food every day. Exercise is great for health, but not great for weight loss when you aren't tracking how many calories you're taking in. You can easily out-eat any calories burned from exercise. Ask me how I know. Since you weaned an older baby who was likely relying on solids for most of their…

No. I think we have a tendency to get into the habit of being happy (and stubborn) eating a certain number of calories from certain kinds of foods we enjoy, and thus, stay the same weight. Having to change what we're happy to continue doing, even if it stands in the way of our goals, tends to evoke denial. Particularly if…
