  • When I strained my hammie while sprinting 13 weeks ago, my husband told me that when a football player does that, he is out for the season! We aren't professional athletes - we aren't that young and fit. Give it time to heal! I'm just now running (slowly) as it still has an occasional twinge/tight feeling. Congrats on your…
  • I run on my country road and have experienced some of the same things as you guys. Once, I slowed down to cross an intersection, and an elderly woman rolled down her car window and asked if I needed a ride! I have been asked directions by mostly women looking for the nearby cemetery; but i would hope that men would have…
  • Warmer temps and vigorous exercise brings on the bright red cheeks! I'm basically accepting of it except for when someone at the gym asks me if I'm OK :/

  • I've noticed that too. I buy most of my tanks at Kohl's and in January, they had just one style of tank - all the rest of the tops were short-sleeved. I buy most of my capris from Marshalls except for Kohl's Fila sport capris "live in motion." They are perfect for me! There is a side pocket for my iPod, and the waist is…

  • OP, thanks for posting. I have never heard of this before, and I was kind of freaked out a few times recently when I smelled an ammonia scent (cat urine) after a sweaty workout. I thought it was another wonderful post-menopausal body change. :/ Good to know that there is a simple fix! Thanks, everyone.
  • This cracked me up! Love it! Some of the women are taking the OP's comments a bit too personnally. Some are warning her about ruining a friendship, telling her that she should permanently pace her workouts with someone slower, blah, blah, blah. Then a guy steps in...
  • I don't think the friendship/working relationship comes first at the cost of your fitness. If you are able to carry on a conversation, you are basically taking a leisurely stroll and not making good use of your only convenient time to exercise. You are feeling frustrated, and since she suggested that you walk ahead, she is…
  • Me too! Though my husband would tell me that my snoring was like a purring kitten, I was unhappy knowing that I was snoring whenever I slept on my back. Also, I hardly ever have heartburn. I don't know if it's from my 12 lb weight loss or from not stuffing myself full at dinner!
  • 8 lbs. A female acquaintance at the gym came up to me and asked if I lost weight. I gave her a thank-you hug! :) (SW: 159, CW: 149. 5'6")
  • Lol, glad you clarified! My husband and I were in a bad habit of drinking 2 drinks every evening. It's easy to fall into the thought process of: it's 5pm, time to have a drink! We started limiting our drinking to the weekends as of the new year. I have 4 drinks per weekend, max. and have lost 9 pounds in 2 months. I mostly…
  • My first post! I'm 5'6, medium frame. Size 8. Mid 50's. Highest weight 159, cw 150. Goal about 140-145. I was slim my whole life until menopause. Yeah. Gained 20 pds in 7 years. I started running sprints and lifting weights 15 years ago and never go more than a few days without exercise. So, not sure how much I should…
